I had a buy 1 7up get 1 free from another printable source and they denied that one.

My understanding was that it wasn't BOGO printables they deny it was printables where you didn't need to buy anything to get a free item. I used the BOGO 7up coupon at my commisary without a problem

Same for me--I've had no problems with internet B1G1 coupons but have not been allowed to use internet coupons for a free item.

from the COMMISSARY: Helpful Sites and Info (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1285) thread
YMMV: Commissary accept internet printables, but not for FREE items and coupon must have a scanable barcode.
The March 2006 DECA newsrelease indicates commissaries gladly accept home-printed coupons
http://www.commissaries.com/document.../deca10_06.pdf
excerpt below:
Commissaries gladly accept Internet or home-printed coupons provided they meet these requirements: the coupons must have "dot-scan" bars below expiration dates or bar codes with Product Identification Numbers (PINs), and they can’t be for free products.
I would email DECA to clarify.
Does the printable indicate what site it's printed from, ie, militaryshoppers.com ?

I was at our commisary over the weekend and I was told I could only use printables that have that extra little barcode on it (the one that looks like the barcode on the back of an ID card) has anyone else heard of this?

Mamamudd,
It's either or, not both the dot scan bar and bar code with PIN. Therefore you should have been able to use your coupon.
Did anyone ever write DECA to get clarification on use of a printable coupon for a BOBO?

It's always a different story when I go to my commissary. If my printables don't scan they won't take them period. One of the cashier just let me hold the coupons and then I hand her them as she scans the products. Some say they will honor it as long as they see it....... some don't care and they won't take it at all. Some give me overage, some adjust the price. I never know what I am going to get, but I do know which line to get in :)

Hmmm... I use printable "FREE" item coupons all of the time at my Commissary, and have even had the manager take them...

Can someone clarify for me what the DECA policy means when they say they won't accept coupons for "free" items? Does that mean just the coupons where you get something for free up to a certain price (like a free Air Wick plug-in), or does it also include BOGO free items? Thanks!

an IP $$ off coupon may result in a free item = OK
an IP for a "free xyz item" = not OK
that only applies to internet printed. free item coupons from nonprintable source = inserts, etc are OK.

deca policy is clear. you should always get overage on coupons that scan (they can refuse to take IP that do not scan).
I never know what I am going to get

Thank you! I didn't realize it was just internet printed either. That helps a lot! I'm new, but I've read about rep-ing people. If I can figure it out, I'll do it for you!

I hadn't tried to use any that said free, but if they won't scan, my comissary won't accept them at all.

I had never had problems with printable coupons at my comm, until the other day. My internet coupon did scan, but the cashier said it couldn't find the item. Even though I showed her that I got the exact item mentioned, she would not let me use the coupons. I had her take the items off, all 6 of them, but I think that's rediculous. Some were new items, so I don't know if that was the problem or what.

welcome to HCW!!
in this case, if i were not in a hurry, i would've requested a manager.

Alishea,
The commissary's guidance is that they accept internet coupons providing they meet these requirements-the coupons must have "dot-scan" bars below expiration dates or barcodes with Product Identification Numbers (PINs), and they can't be for free products. If your coupon met those qualifications, I would have asked to speak to a manager as PMFan suggested. If it is not resolved at that level, you can go to Commissaries.com (http://www.commissaries.com) and email the store director or headquarters with your complaint.
I'd like to point out that no where in their requirements does it mention that the coupon must scan!
Good luck Alishea, I hope that you are able to resolve this and use your coupons.

hmmmm, i KNOW i read that policy SOMEWHERE from DECA.
it's driving me nuts trying to find the source document.
but the current information i found does not indicate it must scan........maybe they changed it - which is a good thing!

Thanks for the info, that's what I thought. I've never had issues before with IP coupons. I should have asked for a manager, but I was pretty sure this lady was a supervisor because I always see her helping the other cashiers. Now that I do know their policy, I won't let them do that again. Alot of the cashiers at my comm act like they don't like taking coupons, which makes it kind of a hassle. One girl told me they can get in trouble if they accept a coupon that they shouldn't have. Anywho, thanks again for clearing that up.

yes, i can verify this based on my mtg with my store director; however, it is not the cashier's job to argue with the customer over a coupon. when that happens, call a manager.
