So this morning, I purchased dog food on managers special and when I looked at the receipt I noticed it rang up at the original price. Went back in and they gave me the price difference. With fussy baby in hand, I took the money and ran. Got home and realized I should've received full refund due to the Scan right guarantee. Called customer service and spoke to the same clerk and she had her "own" rules it seems. Said it had to be regular price and excluded bakery and meat dept and the policy specifically states it excludes markdowns?? I couldn't find a formal policy, can anyone help?? Bottom line is that it scanned wrong, and it wasn't meat or bakery...

I bought something in close-outs and it scanned wrong. I was told the same thing. Also, last week I bought a cucumber and the sign said 49 cents and it rang at 69 cents. I ran back to double check and I was right. No scan guarantee was given on produce either.

You sometimes have to push the Scan Right Policy on them. They are not usually very willing to shell out the full amount of the product.

SO frustrating! I guess I will try to ask for the manager. Bottom line is that it scanned wrong, therefore I feel entitled to the refund. Maybe it's worth arguing a bit! I've got to go back today anyway!

I was told if there was a price tag/sticker on the product, you would get the difference.

If they have a guarantee, this only seems fair. How frustrating that they fight their own rule.:rolleyes24:

In op's case, you would have only gotten the difference because the scan right guarantee does not include marked items:
The posted Scan Right policy is as follows: If any unmarked item scans differently than the shelf tag at the time of purchase, you will receive one of that item FREE. Item limit $25 retail, excludes Beer, Wine & Tobacco products. There haven’t been any changes recently, except that we added the $25 limit in October, 2009.
Cheesecake, I would have fought on the cucumber case because you were correct
The most recent email I got was from Rebecca King, Consumer Affairs Manager at Kroger Tx/La. I quoted above what her email says.
Hope this helps

Thanks ZM! That helps to clarify it, even though I don't agree with it.
