I cut my landline off last month to save 60.00 because we had no need for it

-Cell phones-190.00 (3 lines my husband is a trucker and has to have lots of minutes)
-internet is 67.00 for broadband (we cant get dsl only dial up or broadband and the dial up was annoying me.

-cable-60.00 for 200 channels.

I really have no tips since mine compared to yours seem crazy. I wish we could cut some cost. I have thought about putting the cable down the the lowest package but my husband isn't on board with that.

ANyway good luck!

Land line: we use vonage pay about $26.00 a month

Internet: we get through the cable company $40.00 a month (we have no cable nor TV)

Cell phone: I use a pay as you go. I spend $100 every 6 months or so. My DH has taken over his dad's plan...and now that DH has moved away to another state...I will have to pay for his...so he can speak with the kids and I. That one is $40.00 a month. We may consider if DH job becomes permanent of adding me to that plan....but won't consider that until we know for sure.

Dear Kimberly,
I empathize. I dont know if there is an award for handling three kinds while one spouse is always on the road.
Here is an idea: how can you maximize the returns from the net, cell and cable, if you cannot turn them off completely?
I wish you all the best.

Some companies will let you turn of one or two channels after you are done watching a game or a fight because they dont have a long term contract for example SHO had an MIR and you can have it removed in summer if you are taking a trip to see family.
Just a thought.
Talk to the reps and ask for thir help. always be on a first name basis with your areas rep for all companies, period.
Good luck and thank you fir your response.
Post the name of your cable and net. I might be of help.

Wow- You guys are good at saving on that stuff!
We have phone, internet, cable for $130 a month for all three -Time warner cable
then between 4 people have have a cell phone bill of $180 a month. Dh phone and my phone are only $90..(my mother and sister have the other two phones and pay that half) -ATT

So between the 2 we pay $210...far more than the rest of you. But we need everything we have......Well we want....i should say. And really are not going to do without, but could if it came down to it.

I applaud you all on your low bills!

We had a very old AT&T Plan on our phone and internet. With all the bundled services we were paying way too much for it. I called to make changes to our plan and cancel our landline and got an upgraded plan for $44.95 for phone line and DSL. This is now saving us close to $100 a month.

I also did the same with our Dish service- we cut down on the package since we rarely watched the premium channels and knocked off another $ 50.00 per month. I still need to review our cell service and insurance on the houses and cars. It is amazing to think that I have been throwing away a good amount of money each month for services that we didn't need.

You are saving $720/yr by getting rid of the land line..
If you tell your cable company that you find them expensive, they might give you a better deal.. here's hoping that you save more.

hmm. I spoke to some companies. it looks like you should too once your contract is over.
I know for a fact that att pay as you go has some great offers at Radioshack. you may have to buy a phone and may be you could switch out the SIM cards.
Best of luck.

If you can stand not having the most flashy phone out there, prepaid companies offer really great deals, particularly for those who need to save money. I recently switched over to Net10 prepaid when I moved out of my mom's house and the savings have continued to make it a worth-while choice. I'm saving more than $65 a month versus my previous plan with Net10's "easy minutes" monthly service and while I don't have an IPhone anymore not dealing with a contract or extra fees is really awesome. My Samsung T401G is turning out to be a much better phone than expected and my calling network is very dependable - Net10 even offers international calling which is great for travelling. I haven't yet gotten rid of my hard-line phone in my apartment, but if Net10 continues to be such a quality company, I may be totally with them.

Cell phone: I was paying $65 with taxes ($49 plan) for 600 minutes between 2 lines. We switched 2 months ago to a plan with unlimited calls, text, and web. Paid $160 for 2 phones and $70 a month for the plan with 2 lines. We were dropping a lot of calls on the old plan, but have had ZERO issues with calls OR web in the last 2 months.

house phone: Cut the cord 4 years ago. And even though they tried to scare me from disconnecting my house phone, I had no issues when calling 9-11 on my cell. We were paying $65 for phone/internet together at the time. Now I pay $19.99 for naked DSL. Its fast and reliable.

My challenge now is to find a better deal on entertainment. We get movies from redbox on the weekend every so often, but the selection isn't that much and the new releases sell out quick. We also have a VCR (yes I am a cheap geezer) and buy videos for $1 at goodwill. Satellite is only a good deal for the first 6mos - year, then it's ridiculously high. Cable is highway robbery.

Cell phone~ 2, unlimited minutes, no texting or internet options, always get free promo phone when upgrading~ US Cellular $79

Landline/Internet~ have to keep landline for internet, no extra features or long distance~ GRM $72

Cable~ basic~ $36

We live in a rural area and have only 1 option in a service provider. Can't wait for the day we can lose the landline and bundle the cable and internet.
