Thanks for posting this. My brain works better when I'm looking at the scan rather than the typed-out ad for some reason.

Weird question - can someone tell me what Rome apples are like? My son loves apples but only "crunchy" ones like Granny Smith or Gala. He doesn't like Red Delicious at all. GS are his absolute favorite (likes that they're both crunchy and tart - LOL) but he will also eat Fuji, Gala, or MacIntosh. Any comparisons on the Rome apples? $1.29 is an awesome deal for a bag of apples but not if he won't eat them - LOL

Rome Apples quite firm and are good for cooking with or making pies. The don't fall apart when cooked. I can't remember if they are a good apple to eat raw. It's been years since I've had one.

I think the instasave expires today (2/3) so make sure you check and use it today if you can! I used mine last week (they were bogo then too) so I'm not able to check but I am pretty sure today's the last day.

Thanks Cory! And thanks for the preview too!
I did Google it and they are best for cooking - flavor develops when cooked, not very good raw apparently. I will probably get a bag if I can find a good chunky applesauce recipe though.

Okay what am I missing here? I find the multi grain but the only other cheerios one I see if for one of the following: frosted, apple cinnamon, banana nut, fruity, chocolate, oat cluster crunch, yogurt burst or berry burst.
What zipcode did you use?

I've been making applesauce like a crazy lady since fall, seems I always find good deals on all kinds of apples.
For an easy way to make apples, peel and cut apple away from core (pieces don't matter as to size).
Place in pot large enough to fill about 1/2-3/4 way and put it on the stove on low/med with a lid on. I usually sprinkle cinnamon onto the apples too as I'm adding them to the pot. Stir every 10 min or so. You don't need to add any liquid as the apples will produce their own and you don't want runny sauce. When the apples break apart easily with the edge of a wooden spoon, it's done.
Pour into a large bowl and use a tined fork or utensil to break up the apples - I don't use a potato masher because my hubby likes it very chunky. Then I add a small amount of sugar, stir it, then taste for sweetness - continue to do so until it's to your preference. I usually only add about 3 tablespoons of sugar to about 8 lbs of cooked apples. I add lots and lots of cinnamon though
Package it and you can freeze it too in portions - I use Ziploc plastic containers. That way you can pull out just the right amount that will get eaten without the family getting 'bored' with it!
Enjoy!

I tried a crock pot applesauce recipe, cooked them overnight, and the house smelled wonderful the next morning!
8 to 10 large cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced or cut in chunks
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 to 1 cup sugar
Cook on low 8 to 10 hours (or high 3 to 4 hours)

Thanks for tips! It won't be long and I'll be having to make applesauce once my HT stock from triples (a long long long time ago) runs out.

I BOUGHT KETTLE CORN!!! I just got a bunch of the Jolly Time and it isn't as good as the Orvilles..
I used a Target/MQ $1/2 (the CS cashier really eyeballed it too but used it) and I had another $1/2 from an insert, PLUS I had the Free soda (2ltr) wyb 2 Orvilles from a tearpad I had found there in January. So for 4 Popcorn and 2 soda it cost $2.59 for it all (soda was $1.59-coupon was for $1.50). Luckily I have a rebate or two I can use to get $5 back for the popcorn too.
