Okay do you guys normally buy everything you want or leave some for others. I have this rule I follow in always leaving a few on the shelf for someone else. Today I had stopped at Walgreen's and they were out of all three items that I wanted. I went to Target to and they were out of everything. Then I went to Albertsons and found what I wanted. Air Wick Freshmatice Kits on sale for $5.99. I took all 11! I have never done that but I was so frusterated today.
It really was a great deal. They are normally $12.99 a piece. They were for sale for $5.99. I used the $5.00 coupon on each one. My total was $10.89 plus I had a $5 cat so total was $5.89. They include the sprayer and the can of spray and 3 AA batteries. Great deal :BigHand:
Every glade/scented product that has been on sale I have missed out on because of the stock being wipped out.
Was I wrong to wipe them out?

Funny you ask that today. I also normally do not. I bought some glade products at walgreens, I asked the cashier if they had more in the back. He said go ahead and get what you want we have a truck coming tomorrow.
( as I was leaving I felt so bad, the manager came to me and was like if you need me to order you anything just let me know by 12 on Wed. , I said I would not have taken them all but he said it was okay)
I felt so baddddddddd!!!!:(.
I mean I have been shopping before and had to get a rain check several times becuase items are not available. I even went to the store 3 times in one week and was always out.I do not get mad, I always get a rain check.
Glad you found what you wanted today.

I try not to wipe them out but sometimes it has to be done....if its a hard to find item or a hard to get one and i have had trouble getting it I will wipe the shelf out..I have twins that just trun 3 and I live way out of town so I have to get what I can in my shopping trips to make it worth it to me plus if the coupon are within a week of being out of date i will wipe it out then....but most of the time I will try to only take 2 or 3 at one time and leave some for full price payers...
tommorrow I have 6 different coupons that I am going to use and I have 10 of each so look out shelfs...

It depends - I have definitely taken the last 5 Glades from Target and not thought twice about it and I bought the last 6 Chinets too, but I don't think either amount is excessive to be considered 'shelf clearing'. I think the real reason I won't do it though is because I just don't have plans to buy that many in the first place. I have specific guidelines for myself when it comes to shopping and I just keep myself to them - so normally it does not involve shelf clearing. Even the items I plan to buy many, many of are usually well stocked and I'd have to buy 400 to clear the shelf!

It really depends for me. If it's something I know we need like 10 of and that's all they have left, then I will. If it's something I could live without getting all on the shelf, I will leave some for others. If it's something on clearance that's a super awesome deal, no way will I leave any!

Exactly my thoughts. I have to do whatever it takes for my family to survive because I live in a small town and it is hard to get the deals sometimes.

But what you guys are describing isn't what I think of when I hear "shelf-clearing". Shelf clearing is when you do what the jerk did at the ONE and ONLY Publix for 30 miles around here.
They restocked the Nestle morsels last night. Unloaded the truck and all. So they were FULL to the brim.
Some idiot came and bought ALL the morsels at 7:30 this morning.
I've been looking for those things for what now, two weeks? I was in there at 10:30, asking when they would be back in stock.
IDIOTS!

If there are obly 5 left of something, you bet i will take it. If there is a lot more then no. I do really try to leave some for others. I had been looking for those dang wipes from Target that makes free after coupon. After 4 target stores and several different stops there i finally found 4 pks last night. I was good and only bought 2pks.

I take what I think my family will use in 2 months. My family has no brand loyalty at all so I know that within 4-8 weeks another like item will be on sale for a great deal.
As for shelf clearing...if there is something that I know we use a lot of (dog food for example) I will get a good amount at the beginning of the sale but not clear the shelf but on the last day of the sale I clear them out if I can. I figure I've given everyone else a week to take advantage of the deal so no guilt for me.

Don't feel bad - I found the i-motions at walmart - plenty on the shelves, so I only bought 2 & was going to get 2 each time I went back....there were never any on the shelves after that. Same way with deals at the grocery stores - if I wait til the last day of the sale, it never fails and the shelves are empty. Get the stuff while you can b/c if you don't, you'll lose out....

I generally shop my BiLo in the afternoon of the last day of the sale... and usually i've ordered multiple Qs for the items. If using all my Qs mean clearing the shelves, then I do. I figure by that time most ppl that wanted the deals have already gotten them.
I try not to shelf clean at WM, but have once or twice, but my WM gets at least one truck everynight, so I know whatever I buy will probably be in the next day.

This is not exactly an intervention kind of thing, although we're happy to recite the couponer's pray with you - give me the strength not to wipe out the shelves.
I have been known to wipe them without remorse because I understand the whole mechanics of how stores need to move inventory. So it doesn't bother me. Sometimes, you just have to get the good deal - it is what it is. With my husband being in Iraq, I can't help but clear shelves because I am not schlepping 3 kids in and out of the store to make multiple trips. It just is what it is.

There are only a few instances in which I will clear a shelf:
1. I KNOW we NEED the items and that many
2. The sale is ending that day
3. There are under a certain amount left on the shelf- for instance if the deal calls for buying 3 and there are only 3 left I will take all 3. I will not take the 12 that are left to do the deal 4 times though.
4. It is a clearance item

I have never cleared a shelf out unless there are only two or three items on the shelf. I look at it this way. If my coupon is not getting ready to expire then a rain check is just fine by me. Unless its something I need right then. Congrats on your great buy!!

You know, I use to have remorse on "shelf clearing"....but 2 years ago, I was doing the adopt-a-sailor thing and everytime I ran across a great deal for things I could send them (and I had coupons for), I shelf cleared.
Usually, however, it was at Wags and I asked the manager ahead of time. Then, I'm in line checking out one day....and had clearer's remorse....I'm standing there in my head thinking, should I put some back?? Then some grumpy old fart came up behind me and made some smart alecky comment about how many I was buying and that I couldn't possibly use that many and that was just insanely rude in his opinion......and I turned to him and asked him what he has sent to the troops in the last 6 years????!!!!
He said, oh, you're supporting the troops? I, of course, answered yes and then he changed his tune...of course to the war HE fought in...blah blah....I smiled and politely said, so, next time you see someone buying a whole bunch of something, you might just inquire nicely if they are supporting the troops or something before you bite their head off. He sheepishly walked off.
Of course, I don't think that would work with the airwicks though :giggle2: Even though it gets funky over there, there is prohibition on sending them via airmail because of the explosiveness!!!
