View Full Version : HyVee ~ Vent HyVee Sick of Overcharges!

Normally on things like overcharges, as long as the CS is good and coupon friendly and it doesn't happen often, I let the occasional one slide. But lately it's been getting ridiculous, and it's not just HyVee! But over the past couple of months I think I've been overcharged more than $20 just at HyVee.

Part of it is those dang ad coupons. I'm not talking about ones that I forget to have em scan, that's my fault, it's the ones I tell em to scan and I think they've scanned it but when I look at my receipt it's not been scanned. A once in awhile oversight is all right, but it's been happening nearly every shopping trip.

The other problem is sale items ringing up incorrectly. That has been happening all the time. I don't like to run to CS for every single problem, since I do the bulk of my shopping there and I like to keep up good staff relations without looking like a "crazy coupon lady" :giggle2:

Has this been happening to anyone else? I'm considering sending an email not as a criticism/complaint, but to make them aware of the problem. They used to be really great about always making sure things rang up properly and that they had all the ad coupons pretty much memorized and would scan them without me having to even ask. But lately they've really seemed to slack off. Who should I contact about this?

I hate that too! same thing has been happening to me @ Fareway lately..

Does HyVee still have the scan guarantee? used to be if it rang up at the wrong price- then you got it free- It's been like 20 yrs. since I worked there, so it might be that way anymore....might be worth asking tho

My Hy-vee still uses the scan guarantee. To op I would talk with the store manager first. My store manager said anytime that I feel there is a problem with stock, prices, staff, ect... to please let him know first. If after I have told him and if nothing has changed he encouraged me to contact corp. He said Hy-vee is based around their customers and that having an item in stock, priced correctly and receiving great customer service is what Hy-vee is all about. Sometimes I am too busy or don't notice a mistake until I get home, but I call the store and tell them I will be in later in the week, I have never had a problem with them correcting the mistake.

OMG!!!!!
I was just complaining about this to DH a couple nights ago.

I am in Lawrence, KS.

Just within the 2 weeks I have been overcharged twice, and it has happened several times before that. I admit I did not do anything about it.

And to let you know, my problems have NOTHING to do with coupons. The specific items I've been overcharged on were things I did not have any type of coupon for.

I am not normally one to send an e-mail/letter, but it sure sounds like I should.

See that's why I haven't gone to the store manager yet (or anyone) because I don't think it's just my store. I've heard other ones in my area are having the same issue. I don't know how their system works. I do check my receipt before leaving the store but it's just such a hassle to go to CS. And last time I did get an overcharge fixed it ended up being a half hour ordeal and the girl didn't even follow the policy (because in the past they did give it to me free) but by then I was just done and had my money back and didn't care. I think I'll give them one more week but if I get overcharged next trip I WILL be getting it fixed and then writing a letter. They need to be made aware of this and FIX it, I want my old HyVee back!

They have a price guarantee... its to your benefit if it rings up wrong :) Just go to CS and get ALL of your money back and it's free..

Good deal if you ask me :)

When I have not had my children shopping with me in the past and I've been overcharged, I have gone to CS to get things fixed. However, I did not know they had a price guarantee. All they did was refund me the difference!

Is everyone sure the price guarantee is everywhere?

I am noticing from our Hy-Vee board here, that it seems things can really vary from store to store (even in my own town). I am planning a trip there tonight or tomorrow.

Warcraft, it happens up north here too.

If I catch my HV store in a mistake, I get the entire amount of the overcharge back in cash and leave with the item for free. Happened to me just a few weeks ago with a big sack of bags of chips for kid school lunches. Ad and sign clearly read $5.99, but rang up at $6.49. I got $6.49 back in cash and free chips.

I just found out about the Price Scan Guarantee today. I bought a lot of the Jell-O Pudding that was on sale for 2/$1. I got all different kinds but for some reason the Tapioca rang up $0.83 each and I got 6. I saw it when she was ringing them up, but I thought maybe I misread the sign, so I paid and then DH took the stuff to the car and I went over and checked the signs and there was a 2/$1 tag right underneath the Tapioca. I went up to CS, expecting that I would get $1.98 (the difference) plus tax back and the lady said I get ALL my money back. I was SHOCKED! Especially since I used a bunch of $1.25/3 coupons, so I ended up making money!

My HyVee used to be like that. I was overcharged on bread once and was shocked to get back my money and get to keep the bread! And it was a very rare occurrence for overcharges to happen at that time, too. What's going on now has only been happening the past couple of months. I don't know if it's just the economy in general that's got everyone down and stressed so they're missing things and not providing the good CS they used to, or if HyVee has changed their system and/or management. Either way from now on I'll just have to drag myself and the wee one over to CS and deal with it :hectic1:

I went back to Hyvee today to look for the ICBINB sticks again (no luck), but I wanted to get more pudding. So I got 30 more boxes of pudding, all different flavors again, like last week. After I checked out, I realized that yet again, I was charged 83 cents each for the 5 tapioca's that I got. I went up to CS and pointed it out to her and the mgr went and checked for the sign and came up and said that they should all be 50 cents. Well I of course used coupons (1.25/3) and my total was $5.42 and they had to give me back $4.47, so 30 puddings only cost me 95 cents! :) They didn't seem too happy, but it is not my fault, especially since the CS clerk last week specifically told a guy when I was standing there, to make sure he went and changed the price in the system and that was on FRIDAY! I honestly didn't expect it to happen again, but I'm glad I checked my receipt. Maybe they will NOW go change the price on the pudding, for the last day of the sale! Just makes me wonder how many people got ripped off this week and didn't notice.

When I went to the University Hy-vee in Windsor Heights (DM) I noticed that once I was overcharged from what the sale sign said. The checker immediately gave me the item for free once they confirmed their mistake. I didn't even know about the policy.

But then a few weeks ago at a different store I was in there early on a 1-day sale and got charged for the regular price. I can imagine snafus happen with 1 day sales and computers. But annoying for sure - I try to look at the screen as things ring up but sometimes it's hard. Especially if I have a kid with me!

I felt like a pain in the neck but a checker didn't scan all of my coupons last week - I think a few were stuck together. He was nice enough about it. But you're right, you do need to watch. :\
