I need to make tarts for my kid's Thanksgiving party on Thursday.
I have had a box of Pilsbury pie crust froze in my deep freeze. I just took it out to defrost in the fridge. I checked the date at it states: Best if used by Nov 8 08. A year old! I could have sworn I bought it not that long ago. :shrug7:

My question is do you think it is still okay? It went from the store to the freezer. I don't want to get anyone sick but need to know if I need to go to the store tomorrow.

Has anyone made the tarts that were on the Rachel Ray show last week? Just wondering, that is what I am going to try just make them a bit smaller kiddie size.

Thanks
kate

I've used pie crusts a month or two past date but never that long. Mine have always been okay though.

Thaw them and taste them. If anything will go bad in them it will be the shortening and the crust will have a funky "off" flavor. If they taste OK, then they should cook just fine.

If they taste funny I would not use them.. the date is for the freshness not there to mean they are bad by that date.

Already in the trash!I was thinking the same thing. It is just a really busy week and I really didn't have time to stop at a store.

Okay so where is the best deal? Food Lion, Kroger or Walmart? :wink7:

I'm in NC. Walmart.

Also check your coupon stash, there were coupons in the newspaper recently.
