What is the best way to use the GOS? What do you spend yours on? I never spend $20 there so I can't figure out what to do. Maybe something that never goes on sale or is never free/cheap? How are you using yours?

I am using mine on Black Friday. There is nothing this week or next that excites me and totals $20. Truthfully, their BF ad stinks compared to last year, but it will help get the $20 GOS spent.

Not sure I can post it because the preview is from another site. There is only 1 true freebie, but a nice collection of things that are like 25c after rebate and cpns (so more or less FREE once you consider a $5/25). So I think I'll get as much as I can of that stuff...and maybe some milk or whatever if I need fillers to reach $20.

I am hoping for one on their Huggies Diaper deals. 3 for $33 and then $10 SCR minus coupons of course....but we'll see if they do one in the correct time frame???

I used mine for a clearance digital picture from that was discussed in a previous post.

Vextra 99.99 @ 75% off = 24.99
frito lay sunflower seeds = .50
Used $5/20
Used GOS $20
OOP .49

OR

Phillips 89.99 @ 75% off = 22.50
Oral B SCR toothbrush = 2.99
frito lay sunflower seeds = .50
Used $5/20
Used .75 oral B
Ued GOS $20
OOP .24

I used mine last year on a pepsi/frito lay deal. They were offering a coupon rebate for buying a certain number of 12-packs and chips/dip. Those rarely have coupons, and pretty much never have good coupons, so it was worth it to get some with almost no OOP.

This year I think there will be enough freebies on black friday week to use it then.

Does the GOS affect the rebate amounts if I use it towards SCR items?

I used mine last week

I dont remember the excact transaction..

Huggies 9.99 - 3 SCR
Oral B Toothbrush 5.99 - coupons - 3 SCR
Papertowels 5.99 or 6.99 ... 1.00 coupon...

Anyway... I did get my SCR for the huggies and the toothbrush.

I am going to use mine when they have the Colon Cleanse product FAR that is about $18. I don't want the product, but do want to roll my GOS into cash. I try to use them to buy other FAR products for just that reason, unless there's something else I really want. To answer a previous post, no - using the GOS will not affect the rebate amount you get back (or at least it never has).

I just barely qualified for the $10 one (still learning from all of you!) and I used it today. Here's what I did:

2 Quilted Northern toilet Paper 5.99 each - $5/2 Video Values - (2) $1.00 MQ = $4.98/2
2 Nair wax strips BOGO 5.99 - $3/2 IP = $2.99/2
Crest with scope 2.69 - .75 MQ = $1.94
Kotex 2.99 - $1.00 IP = $1.99

Total: $11.85 - $10.00 GOS = $1.85 OOP

I think this was pretty good! We desperately needed toilet paper and I needed the Nair, so doing this deal was perfect timing! I will also get back $2.00 for the Kotex and $2.69 for the toothpaste with SCR. I love Rite Aid!

LOL, me too. This is my plan for next week:

colon cleanse: 17.99
benevia drinks: 7.99
dulcolax balance: 6.99
duracell power pix 4-pack: 5.99
subtotal: 41.59 with tax
-$5/25
-$5/1 benevia IP
-$4/1 in-ad RA dulcolax coupon
-$3/1 dulcolax hangtag coupon
-$3/1 in-ad RA duracell coupon
-.75/1 duracell MC
=20.84, use GOS and pay .84 OOP

Then for black friday weekend sales:
philips ear buds: 4.99
oral b toothbrush: 2.99
scope outlast: 3.99
secret deodorant: 2.49
tampax pearl: 3.99
duracell power pix 4-pack: 5.99
schick disposables: .99
subtotal: 27.15 with tax
-$5/25
-$1/1 oral b
-$1/1 scope
-$1/1 secret
-$1/1 tampax
-$3/1 in-ad duracell
-$1/1 duracell
-$2/1 schick disposables
=12.15, use $10 zyrtec rewards check and pay 2.15 OOP

I'll also have to buy 1 more pack of duracell during the week, so my total OOP would be 5.38 for the week. Then I should get back $50.47 in rebates :BigHand:

I got my GOS so quickly that I was able to use it to buy stuff during that second week of the boatload of FAR cold/cough products about 3 weeks ago. Since it was all FAR, and I just got my check today, I turned that GOS into cold hard cash. I always try to "convert" my gift checks, gift certificates, etc. into cash whenever possible.

I'm using mine next week. Here's my scenario!

Benevia drinks 4 pack 7.99 (7.99 SCR)
SUBTOTAL: 35.97
- $5/$25 RA q
- $5/1 Luvs q
- $5/1 Benevia IP
TOTAL: 20.97
- $20 GOS
OOP .97 plus 27.98 back in rebates

I used mine today. I figured with the contact lens solution (7.99) and the fusion razor (5.00 ac), that's about the closest I'll come to $20 in one purchase.

Because I'm a newbie (2+ months couponing), I used the remainder toward organizers! Two accordion files, one for clipped coupons, one for inserts. I'll be setting up an organization system like the one mommydani pictured in the 'show us your organization systems' thread. I bought my purse-sized organizer at Dollar Tree.

I probably could have saved more had I waited for the organizers to go on sale ... I have a feeling that might happen around new years ...

Does the GOS affect the rebate amounts if I use it towards SCR items?I believe the answer is no.

Many SCR (Single Check Rebate) items are purchased by me using manufacturer's cents off coupons and Rite Aid $5.00 off of $25.00+ coupons.

I have always gotten the full price of the rebate item.

+

Think of it this way ...

The way your rebate submission is processed (and paid out) is by checking to see if you purchased the correct rebate item.

If you did any discounts, at the time of the purchased, are a moot point (not figured in to the processing of your rebate submission).

Hurray for our side!

And it gets even sweeter----my daughter did the GOS in October but she gave me her $20 certificate as there are no Rite Aids up where she is in school and she didn't want to mess with it (her words, not mine---I know, I know, I was just appalled when she said that!). I used it on BF and with that and the qs, I ended up paying $10.65 (paid with a RA GC so no money actually OOP) and I have already qualified for the $20 Holiday GOS!! WooHoo!!! LOVE my Rite Aid!!

Also, is there another GOS coming up? How often does Rite Aid have a GOS event? I am new to Rite Aid and would like to use my $20 GOS for purchases that will earn me another GOS is possible!

Hmm...hard to say. Last year there was only one, the holiday GOS. They didn't have a fall GOS at all. So they may be increasing the number, but I wouldn't really expect another one to roll around until after next summer, at least. Hopefully there will be another good rebate week to use it up.

I actually used it yesterday and got a great deal on paper towels and tp, which I needed. These items are hard for me to stock up on!

I bought 3 Bounty 8 pack paper towels (6.49) and one 12 roll charmin tp (6.49)

The total was $25.96
I used: $5/25
.25 Bounty
.25 Bounty
.25 Bounty
.25 Charmin
$20 GOS

My OOP was .03, and I earned a $5 SCR from the P&G deal. :BigHand:

how does it work, I am confused? I thought I will receive a RA DC for my GOS (it is my first time) OS, it is NOT a GC but a certificate that I need to spend at once?

I havent received it yet, am I supposed to request my rebate for December, in order to receive the GOS certificate?

Thanks!

SavinginOhio
01-05-2010, 07:15:51 AM
The GOS comes as a certificate, not a gift card. It needs to be used all at once in one transaction.

To request it, go online to your SCR account and log in. Below the December SCR data there should be a link that says "To see your Rite Aid Gift of Savings status, click here." Go to that page to see what you have earned and request your GOS. If you earned a $20 GOS by spending $100+, it was requested automatically for you when you reached the $100 total.

sO, do I order it seperate from my regular december rebate cheque?

and also does it have an expiration date?

Yes, you have to order it seperately from the December SCR. I don't rememebr the exact expiration date, but I think it was sometime in March or April?

About how long did it take you all to get your GOS? My dh and I each earned one, they were both mailed on January 4th. I received mine over a week ago, his still hasn't shown up at his work. I'm starting to wonder if it's lost or if it accidentally got tossed or something. :( Will RA replace it if it doesn't show up? I know their FAQ say no, but has anyone had any luck getting a lost SCR/GC/GOS replaced?

He got laid off (on Christmas Eve of all days!) and our 4th is due in less than a week so it will really stink if he doesn't get it. He worked for family so they're still checking the mail at the shop for him but it wouldn't surprise me if it got opened and tossed. :(

The only thing I can suggest is that he call and talk to a SCR supervisor at the toll free number and see what they say. I'm not sure if the GOS's are coded to tell if they have been cashed or not or if they could make the one they sent VOID etc. :shrug7:

Gift of Savings...a promo that ran in Dec. where you could earn a $20 Gift Certificate when you spent $100 (which was b/f q's...so VERY easy to do).

BTW...check out my MM scenario for the GOS in the 1/31 thread! Awesome way to convert the GOS to an SCR check..to get cash in your hand!

I plan to use my GOS tomorrow and I have TWO questions regarding the use of it.

1) Can you use it to absorb sales tax to get your OOP REALLY low? After using my $5/$20 VV, my $20 GOS, and all my MCs, I will have around $5 in overage. My sales tax will be approx. $2.86. Can I just find some fillers for around $2.14 and be good to go?

2) Has anyone used theirs to purchase an SCR item and have it go through. The certificates say "not to be combined with any other offer" or something to that effect. I do not really know what they mean by this. I do not want to waste using mine on SCR items IF it is not allowed and/or they will be denied after submitting them.

TIA

1. I don't know the answer.

2. Yes, I have done this with several GOS....the SCRs go through just fine.

When I used mine, I didn't get enough somehow and they gave me ~.25 change. It is supposed to be used just like a gift certificate I think.

I think (and am not certain if it has to do with where you use it or if it works anywhere) that the last time the GOS certificate rang up as basically a store coupon.

If this is the case, then it would likely deduct sales tax (unless your area doesn't do that with store coupons) so the tax wouldn't be used as part of the certificate amount.

dancinmama
02-01-2010, 09:41:58 AM
Thanks for the replies.

BillyGr is correct. All the Rite Aid coupons subtract sales tax. I ended up getting $1.53 back in change and will get $22.99 in ESRs for (3) Profoot, (2) Garnier, (1) Complete Saline, (2) Chex Mix, (1) Colgate, (1) Heart Health Advantage, and (1) Dawn w/ Olay. I think I'll take it.
