Here we go, regional turkey prices at Giant Eagle
My North East Ohio Turkey (18lb and up) .59¢ a pound
Anyone got a higher price?
Last year, those on the West side were higher....
I wish someone would let Giant Eagle know about the internet. When they do insulting things like this....it just makes me want to go to Walmart.

Yes...
I just checked my other ads and Sparkle has HoneySuckle for 88c and Marc's has HoneySuckle for 59c.
Thank you so much for posting this! I am going to Marc's after work today to check out their selection. That's the same price as Honeysuckle at GE, but I don't want to have to buy an 18-pounder if I don't have to.

Wow, someone just reported $0.37/lb on the new week sale thread but I don't know where they are. I understand some price variances by area but from $0.37 to $0.79 is ridiculous! I will be taking my turkey business elsewhere. I try to support my local grocers as much as possible (Heinen's and Zagara's) and usually only buy the loss leaders and super hot deals at GE anyway.

The whole "Giant Eagle Brand" thing makes me laugh...I keep picturing special GE turkeys being bred just for GE stores. Like how can an animal be any sort of brand? Aren't they all the same? :giggle2:

I have to go to Erie tomorrow - wondering if it'll be worth it to get my turkey there LOL. Of course, I have no idea where to put it or if I could even do a $30 transaction.
I'm still $120 short at SNS to get a free one and not sure I'll have the money or energy to shop that much by then.
I may just head to Walmart and get a .40/lb turkey and call it a day

That was probably me. We've got 37c/lb in southcentral PA. Giant Eagle brand, 18 lbs. and up, with a $30 minimum purchase. With all the fabulous sales/coupons going on this week, I'll have no problem hitting the $30 minimum.

Each time I see this thread title, I read it as "turkey price by religion" and I think to myself .25/lb for Baptists, .33/lb for Catholics, etc...:giggle2:

I just saw an ad on tv last night saying our GE will price match any competitor's turkey price. When they're already at 37c/lb, I guess that's not going to be much of an issue for them around here, but it's worth checking into to see if other GE's are doing the same.

Also confirmed ($.40/lb.) at GE Market District in South Hills Village / Bethel Park - picked up a 22.xx pounder for $9.xx. Thank you WalMart for some honest competition!

I really thought more people would be upset and choose NOT to buy they're turkey at GE. There is no reason for them to have such significant price variances as $0.29/lb. in one area and $0.79/lb. in another when GE is buying all their turkeys at the same price. It's not like they're sourcing them locally in each market and are subject to the market price in that market, thus they have to charge accordingly. I hope others will choose to reward other stores with their turkey business, but understand if you can't or don't. Frankly, I find this insulting by GE and I personally will not be buying any turkeys from them (and I'm not even looking for the cheapest price because I will be buying a fresh or all natural/non-injected turkey so they lost out on an even higher priced turkey from me).

From what I learned from a GE employee is that all GE's are paying 91¢ a pound per Turkey so they are taking a lose no matter what price they are selling them for. I would guess the actual price of them being sold at, would be the amount of lose each individual store can handle.
Since there is a commercial out for 40¢ per pound I would guess each GE would have to match that.

I checked today after seeing the 40c/lb commercial and the Latrobe store had a handwritten sign showing GE Grade A Frozen Turkeys were 40c/lb. Told my mom and she stopped at the Greensburg store and they had them at 40c/lb too. I forget the brand, the sign said GE brand but I remember her saying it was some other cheapy-brand. She got a 21lb for @8.50
So it looks like they are honoring the commercial no matter what region you're in :-)

I ended up getting my turkey from Marc's because I got a better price there. Apparently I am a turkey snob and needed a brand name turkey, so I got a 12.5 lb. Honeysuckle for $.59/lb ($7.xx). I did LOL at the person who made a joke about the "GE brand turkeys" because I'm sure it doesn't really matter.

Maybe I need to travel up North because I'm a Honeysuckle girl. Then again adding on gas costs might make it the same as buying it here at $1.29/lb. :giggle2: Hmmm maybe not.
$1.29*30= $45 (!?)
or
$.59*30=$18 + 12=$30 I think there might be a road trip in my future.
Is there a limit on how many? Hubby is asking for two since he is attempting to deep fry for the first time.
ETA: Buehler's has some for $.99 so I will probably go there or see if I can price match. :BigHand:

Nope, no restrictions and no minimum purchase. I don't know what kind of selection there is left though!

Thank you. Impatient me found the ad online then called around to see if GE would match it. No since it is out of the surrounding area. Called Wal-Mart and they will match it. Not sure what's left, but if nothing else GE will most likely match Buehler's ad. I'm a happy camper.
