Another place to donate meters

I posted a bunch of meters on Freecycle tonight, and one of the people who responded is president of a firefighter's association. He says they keep meters in their first aid kits. So, if you're looking for places to donate these, check with your local fire station!

First, TYSM for reminding us to donate them. I think we sometimes let them collect (me :whistle67:) and Freecycle is another wonderful option. I have a Senior Center very nearby but haven't been yet to drop them off and see how many they can use.

I never would have thought of asking a firestation - I have 3 within like 5 miles of my house! Right now I'm saving the Contour strips for a buddy of mine w/ gestational diabetes - if all goes well, she shouldn't have to pay for strips at all while she has to deal with this. But I have those Breeze2's also that come w/ a free test disk (10 strips in the disk) that need a good home... There's also a new birth center that's opened up not too far from me, and I've been meaning to ask if they need any of these for moms that need to check their sugars...

Keep in mind that once the box has been opened to remove the testing strips or disc the groups most likely will not accept the meters. The boxes need to be sealed.

Yes, Freecycle is a great option too. The firefighter guy ended up being a no-show, so I gave them to others who responded, and they all seemed very appreciative. One guy just wanted them for the test strips, and he got almost 200 total strips with all the meters I gave him! The others seemed to actually want the meters, either for themselves or for family members.
