Some how I got my Albertsons ad in the mail today.
I'm still confused on the Sara Lee deal. This is how it reads:

Buy a Sara Lee Oven Fresh Pie $6.39
Get another pie + 2 Breyers Ice creams Free.

So it looks like you only pay for ONE pie and you get the other 3 items free? Thats how I read it, but it just seems too good to be true.

My ad also has some good store coupons $.88 ragu, $.99 skippy peanut butter.

Another promo
Buy 2 participating Angel Soft or Sparkle items and save $3 instantly in a single transaction.
They're priced 2 for $10. and the HCW database has coupons listed in the 9/13rp.
might work out nicely, especially if we get doubles on sunday.
I like these smaller promos (less room for something to go wrong).

we got our ads delivered a day early also, never happened before, see lots of good deals, chiller pop, lowest I have seen it, the pie deal, peanut butter, with albertsons coupon is for 99 cents, so could we use the MQ for $.75/1 or $.75/2 to make even lower?

They did the pie deal last year, so even though it sounds too good to be true, its not! YAY! I just cleaned my freezer in anticipation. I wonder if 3 year olds would be upset if they get pumpkin pie instead of cake for a birthday party?

If you don't have the insert q for Breyer's, there is a $1/2 IP on save-a-lot.com. They print as MC so you can use them anywhere.

Also wanted to add there's a $1/2 Ragu IP there, making for cheap sauce this week!

Is anyone in the Kalispell Montana area? Do you know if our Albertsons will take coupons for the free items? As in the Pie and Icecream deal.

Yikes! Everyone on our block had a paper outside their houses this a.m. I thought it was just a free daily paper, but I just opened it, and no newspaper, just a sheet of local ads, and all the new grocery ads!! :BigHand:
Give me a little while, I'll start typing it up now. (DH is using the other computer, so I can't scan, but I will if I get the chance)

You're welcome!

I can't wait to find out if we can use the coupons for the free items.

Seems like a really good price on the ground beef, is it? We've been using 2008 fair bought beef but are almost out, so I need to start stocking up.

Gotta watch that Savealot.com place. If you have printed the Q the allotted times, it will print another sort of Q saying that. Wasting a lot of ink. Ugh!

Thanks OP for the link.

Just FYI...at Albertsons in Bonney lake, there is no such thing as 12 oz. smuckers (part of the 5 oyno). They ended up giving me the bigger ones, and then scanning a different item to get the cat.

It's the coupon printing software -- e-centives. Colgate uses that one, too. I hate when it prints the fake coupons - just seems like they're trying to be a PITA, IMHO. KWIM? :wink7:

Also, can someone please post if the Pillsbury Simply cookie dough is included in the 2/$5 sale for the free butter? I still have my $1.25/1 IPs & I'd love to use them before they expire. Thanks!

I was able to use 2 sara lee $1 coupons on the pies, but I didn't press my luck with the breyers coupons. Total was $4.69 for all 4.

Just got back and was refused coupons other than 1 Sara Lee. Also the Buy 20.00 get back 5.00 Cat. is messed up too., There are no 12 oz Smuckers OR any thing on the shelf at 2/4.00. So they overrode the 18 oz Smuckers but due to this that Cat. did not print. They rang up a fake order to force the Catalina and I did get my 5.00 Cat. back. They were very nice about the whole thing.I am pretty sure they should not be taking coupons on free items and If they do...you probably have a new employee/cashier who does not know better. I know lots of people who have luck doing this...but I think it it is just that...luck...

someone on another site said that another shopper got the $15 cat TODAY(11/11). Has anyone had that experience or know anything about it?

FYI follow up on this is;It has been reported that Skippy, Ragu and Breyers ice cream are still triggering the $15 cat wyb $30.00 Reported to be good until midnight tomorrow.

I was able to do the pie and ice cream deal and they did let me use all of the coupons.

I used two $1/1 on the pies and one $1/2 on the ice cream. They had no problem with it and I even had the cashier that hates coupons.

I think on this one "YOUR MILEAGE WILL VARY"...maybe a lot...

Anyone else have the issue with the 5/20 Smuckers Brands promo. Maybe just the smaller Abbie's does not carry the 12 oz Jams..???

I have maybe a dumb question. The 10 for 10 items at albertsons - do you have to buy 10 to get them for $1.00? Or are they a dollar even if you buy 5?

mommycia

We didnt have the 12 oz, so they substituted the 18 oz, and rang other products to produce the cat.

Not a dumb question at all! These are $1 each. If it's part of a promo, where it's 10/$10 after an instant discount, then you have to buy however many is required. But with this 10/$10, you can buy one, two or fifteen!

I was just told there will be Doublers this sunday, atleast here in Southern Oregon, not sure if it will be a slick sheet or not, but he assured me that we are getting them. I guess I will wait to do my pies till then, the store here ordered really heavy on the pies and Ice cream this year so he assured me they won't run out.

If the Skippy/Ragu/Breyers deal is still printing, are the Breyers ice cream from the pie deal counting towards the $30 total? The online price for the Breyers 1.5 qt is $6.39!! 4 Skippy, 4 Ragu, and 2 Breyers adds up to $20.26 by themselves. This is awesome! :BigHand:

Thanks for the UPC list, Superbob!

I thought so , Thank's also my store was almost out of all the sara lee pies , They had no more cherry left and only a few apple and this is the first day , so you all better hurry if you want to do this deal , Guess you all could get rain checks maybe

My store was out on the shelf. I asked for a rain check and she said Oh we have alot more in the back. We will get someone to get them for you!

The store is taking the loss on a deal so 3 free items so they are happy to take manufacturers so they don't lose as much. Every store I have tried takes manufacture coupons for free items.

I just bought 4 pies/4 ice cream... deal worked great! Unfortunately, I didn't have a MC for the pies, but I did have 4 of the $0.75/1 ice cream ones. I also got the $5 ONYO for spending $20 (before coupon). Also, got the free butter. I was all out of the $1/2 pillsbury pie crust but luckily there was a peelie on there. All in all, I saved $105 (plus $5 ONYO) and spent $52. I had to get some stuff for dinner, so all in all, not bad! There were no pies on their actual shelf left but I did find some on an end freezer. I love this deal!!

Nestle toll house cookie dough had $1/1 peelies on them, and they are on sale this week for 2/$5. So, 50c/ea after coupon and doubler!

I wanted to see how the Breyers rang up BEFORE I considered doing the 15/30 deal. One rings up as $6.39 and then is taken off the receipt and the other shows up as free and doesn't ring up at all. So you'd have to buy more of either Skippy/Ragu/Breyers. I can't get my computer to print the Save-a-lot q's , so I don't have any Ragu or Breyers coupons. So, I'm still undecided if I want to do that particular deal. HTH

Thanks!

Diva,
At my Albies they did not have the free butter sign up in front of the Simply cookies. They had it up in front of the other kind of Pillsbury cookies. So, I'd take that as a no. Darn, because I still have those q's as well.

Pooh, that deflates my excitement quite a bit. But - thanks so much for posting the details. I thought I had skippy coupons, but I've been tearing my stash apart, and I'm not finding any. Double pooh.

I saw that Millstone coffee is on Superbob's list, but acc'd to albies online, it's 9.99. That's too bad - there are $1/1 tearpad q's on there.

So I happened upon the GM $15 catalina today by accident. But this is how it rings up.

Sara Lee Pie rings up as bogo
$6.39 and $0.00

Breyers Ice Cream rings up as bogo
$6.39 and $0.00

At the end of the transaction the Breyers comes off.

So here is how I happened upon it by accident. We eat ALOT of pasta, so I thought I would buy the four ragu at $.88 each. I bought 8 pies and 8 Breyers

It rang up like this
Breyers $6.39 x 4 = $25.56
Breyers $0.00 x 4 = $0.00
Ragu $1.69 x 4 = $6.76 (When they scan the coupon it reduces to $.88)
Sara Lee$6.39 x 4 =$25.56
Sara Lee $0.00 x 4 = $0.00

The Ragu and Breyers reach $32 triggering the catalina for $15. Then the Breyers comes off and the Ragu coupon gets scanned 4 times. I had $15 in catalinas to use. My second and third trip I had no coupons for Sara Lee or Breyers so my total was $14.08 each time and I received $15 in catalinas each time.

I did this deal 3 times without MQ's and once with MQ's. I rolled my $15 in cats from yesterday. I spent $45 and I have enough ice cream and pies to last my family half a year. Plus I have more pasta sauce and $15 in cats to use again.

Anyways, hope this helps. This is just my theory on why the $15 in cats printed. Does anyone know how long the $15 cat is running?

I edited the post to make sure people are buying 8 pies and 8 breyers and 4 ragu.

Ugh! Tried the pies, ragu and breyers x4 and no cat. I also had a bad experience last night. Not only did they say that I could not roll the $15 in cats, but because I used coupons, then a catalina, definitely wouldn't print out. So, I still need to call catalina over yesterdays transaction. Should I call on this one as well?

Did you buy 8 breyers (4 of which will ring up at $6.39 each and 4 will ring up at $0.00 and 8 pies and 4 ragu at $1.69?) Reading over your reply and then rereading my first post I think I may have confused people by not writing 4 Breyers at $0.00 as well as the 4 that ring up at $6.39 each. Just a guess. I'm sorry it didn't work for you.

Yes, buy 8 pies, 8 Breyers, and 4 ragu (technically you may only need 3 ragu which would put the total of qualifying items over $30-I happened to buy 4 because I wanted the pasta sauce.)

Not trying to sound weird or anything, but if anyone finds themselves with more pies or ice cream than they have room for, please consider donating to your local food bank. Demand is really up this year, and many of them are getting holiday food 'baskets' together for Thanksgiving. If they have the ability to store frozen foods, I'm sure they'd love to get them! I want to do this cat deal today, but there's no way I can fit that many things in my freezer (I don't know where I'm going to put a turkey, LOL!), so I'm taking in 6 pies & Breyers this afternoon.

I am so psyched about this deal - thanks to all who posted that it's still working today! I haven't been this excited about a deal in a long time. :excited8: I just hope I can find a store with that many pies & ice creams still available...

I might do the Folgers/Pillsbury/Smuckers $5/$20 deal with ice cream toppings ($1.50) I have assorted TP/booklet Qs, some of which would double I think. And the Crisco Olive Oil ($5) with the $1/1 insert & dispenser Qs.
If we get doubles:
Fleishmann's yeast ($1.29 still) with 50c/1, 40c/1 and 50c OYNO = MM
Zone bars $1.25 (55c/1) = 15c
various Quaker $1.67 & $2.50

I just did the pie/ice cream/ragu deal a few minutes ago. 8 pies, 8 ice creams, and 4 jars of ragu. I used 8 .75/1 coupons and my $15.00 catalina from last week and paid $8.08. Woo hoo! Thanks for posting this deal!

I did the deal this afternoon, too. Good news -- the $15 in cats printed. The bad news? I couldn't use any of my Breyer's coupons, and I forgot one of my Sara Lee's at home (I would have only been able to use 4). But my final price for 8 pies, 8 ice creams and 4 Ragus was $9.08 (I had $15 in cats to use, too).

One thing to note about the Save-a-Lot ips: they do not have unique numbers (a fault of e-centives software - mine were printed from different machines at different times). The cashier almost didn't let me use my Ragu coupons because they all had the same number on them (my Breyer's did, too, but she wasn't letting me use the coupons on free items). She had to ask a mgr for permission, and the mgr wasn't happy, but let me use them. They've been told to look for unique numbers. So, just an FYI that you might run into this when you shop, too.

Another possibility of a freebie with doublers, if your Albies has taken the attitude of doubling coupons that say 'do not double':
Mars candy bars are 2/$1. At the checkouts, there are blinkies for 50c/2 bars. So, 2 free bars w/ doubler & blinkie.

Thank you to those who posted about the 8 pie, 8 ice cream, 4 ragu deal. Did it tonight and the $15 CATS printed out.
But, I was accused at the first store of trying to do coupon fraud for wanting to use coupons on the Breyers. And they wouldn't accept manufacturing coupons on the Ragu because I was also using the Albies .88 store coupon. So I left and went to another store. They also wouldn't accept the Breyers coupon, but did accept the Ragu ones and 4 Sara Lee ones. (I have multiple computers.)

Cashier at one store mumbled something about a new coupon policy, and said that they need to be able to see the tiny outline printing around the internet coupons which I normally cut off. Anyone heard anything on either of these?

I looked at the policy and couldn't find any wording about using coupons on free items. But I would like to know if it is coupon fraud, I haven't heard this before and won't try it again until I can get proof that it isn't. I would also love to show them that the accusation was unjust.

Again thanks for all the great info.

It's definitely not coupon fraud to use the coupon on the free item. Not sure about Albertons policy; this type of coupon maneuver is always YMMV. Personally, I never have any difficulty using coupons on free items (knock on wood)

The Ragu situation is the one that would tick me off the most, because it is ABSOLUTELY, 100% allowed to use a store coupon and a manufacturer's coupon on the same item - it's called stacking.

If I were you I'd go back and talk to the manager about that - being accused of fraud is completely out of line!

Thank you to those who posted about the 8 pie, 8 ice cream, 4 ragu deal. Did it tonight and the $15 CATS printed out.

Tried the 8 SL pies, 8 Breyers ice creams and 4 Skippy PB this morning @ Albertsons. No cats. Couldn't confirm since nothing else did print from the machine but other machines on different registers were printing stuff.

Wouldn't Albertson's love to get the coupons for the Breyers/sara Lee pies? They are losing money by giving them free anyways, but are getting back a little by the coupons, when they send them in, you would think they would welcome coupons on free things. IMO.

I got 6 pies and 6 ice creams last night, was told I could only use 3 of each coupon because "you can't use a coupon on something we're giving you for free". To which I pointed out to the cashier..."well you just told me I could use 3 ice cream coupons and that you're giving to me for free...right?"...long story short: it was late and I was tired and didn't have it in me to wait for a manager and argue my point or the coupon policy.
So I just got off of the phone with customer service and explained the whole "scanned items vs. coupons" thing and he said "comparing your transaction scenario with the coupons you had to our coupon policy...what you are saying makes 100% sense to me, I agree with you, you should have been able to use your 12 coupons for 12 items as long as all coupons were for 1 item each (as in not $1/2 or something)." He told me he'd send the info to the store director for me and they'd get back to me by Monday.

I guess we'll see :shrug7:

****UPDATE****
I just got off the phone with the store director. He didn't budge, told me it was the people in charge of the Idaho stores that sent it down telling them to only accept one ice cream and one pie coupon per "Deal". He also mentioned that the email he got said that the reason was that if they accepted all 4 coupons it would bring the total down to $2 and something cents and that it would turn an already amazing deal into something that would end up either losing the store money or the vendor would be losing money...I told him "I'm sorry to tell you this if you're not already aware of it, but I sometimes get things for free at your store and walk out only paying tax, I'm pretty sure someone has to end up footing the bill for that as nothing is produced for free...so what makes this deal any different?" I got irritated because he kept repeating "you're already getting a fantastic deal"...but I kept my cool and wasn't mean to him. I talked to him for over 20 minutes. I'm still irritated, he didn't make me feel any better.

I don't understand all this talk. Either they get $6.39 cash from one of us or they get some cash and some Q's. Either way, they will get $6.39 in the end. They aren't getting anything extra back by taking the Q's and even have to wait for the Q money. The extra 8c per Q they get just covers the extra time it takes to process them.

Am I wrong?

It's clearly against Albertsons coupon policy to deny the use of a manufacturer's coupon along with the ad coupon on the Ragu. The $1/2 that most of us are using will not make the item free or a moneymaker, either, so they can't use that excuse.
As to using coupons on the free pie and the 2 free Breyers, I can see where that would be a YMMV, just like it is when some of us try to use a cents-off coupon on one item, and a b1g1f coupon on a 2nd item.

I think the new policy you're talking about may be because of an increase of photocopied coupons. I had this happen at Albies way back this summer during all the Klondike/Haagen Dazs ice cream deals. At first the cashier told me they'd only take IPs that were in color. I went to CS to get the money for them, and the person there called over a mgr before she'd take my IPs. Turns out that the word to the cashiers was to make sure there is that tiny border around the coupon, because it contains a unique ID number (as does the front of the coupon) and a time stamp from when it was printed. The only major coupon printing software that I can think of that doesn't do this is e-centives, which is the software sponsoring the Ragu/Breyers, etc.

So, to be safe, we'd better leave that little border on our IPs, and hope for the best with the others.

I think we can't stress enough here how important it is to NOT copy coupons. It is so so so so so wrong. I would hate to think that our couponing could be ruined by one or a few people.

I have mentioned here before about taking peelies and was promptly told that there is nothing wrong with taking peelies from one store to use at another. Well there is a Glade promo going on and I have been shocked to hear how many people are taking the coupons in the LID even from the store that has the deal going???? Can't we just all agree to some skeleton of a couponers code of ethics?

Honestly, I just have to say that this has been repeated so often lately that it's starting to sound accusatory. (Not from your post alone, Melaniee, don't take me wrong)

I'm sorry if I sound accusatory - I honestly don't mean to. It seems to me like lately there has been a more tense relationship between stores and shoppers. Unfortunately, there are multiple things happening at the same time, and they're having a cumulative effect:
-retailers (like pretty much every other business) are worried about their bottom line. When times are tough, increased asset protection is one way stores try to take care of themselves. Thus, they're more vigilant.
-the bad economy is getting more people into couponing than ever before
-some people are honestly ignorant about printing vs. copying (I see it all the time on other boards related to shopping and deals, too)
-some other people know full well, but are using the bad economy to take advantage of people by selling and/or using counterfeit or copied coupons
-in good times or bad, there are always those store mgrs & cashiers who just don't 'get it' about couponing, and misinterpret or make up their own rules

Frankly, I've been very pleasantly surprised at all of the great promos and rebates in the last several months. I was sure that the economy was going to cause everything to dry up, making tight times even worse. We may all have to turn on our charm (even more than we already do :wink7:), and keep showing the stores that we appreciate the deals. Obviously, we don't want them to lose money because they'll stop the promos. On the other hand, they need to see that our shopping their promos does increase their bottom line, even when we use coupons (duh, we know that, but not all of them do). Hopefully, if things start to turn around, the atmosphere will start to relax a little.

OK, back to your regularly scheduled shopping! :whistle67:

I was told the same thing for Southern oregon but we don't have them either, So I went and found the manager and asked him why he gave bad info and showed him the flyer without doublers he acted shocked and went to his office and grabbed the ad he was sent and no doubles go figure he had one from last weekend on top of it and saw the doubles from it and thought it was this weekend, But he did show me a one page copy of next weekends ad and it has 3 doubles for sure. It looked like it will be printed inside the paper itself and not a slick sheet though. I am depressed I had a ton of deals ready and waiting on doubles!!

What's not to understand? Albertsons is losing money by giving away two icecreams, and a pie, so you'd think they would accept the coupons on free things to get atleast some money back for the deal. It is all the same in the end, but Albertsons is not losing any money over taking coupons for free items, which is what I'm trying to see.

SweeieV, I think we are sort of saying the same thing. But, in the end, Albies will still only get $6.39 for this deal, either all cash or part cash and part Q's. It will all add up to $6.39. If it is their policy not to take a Q on an item they give away then that's their policy and we should abide by it. They aren't earning any more money by accepting a Q on a free item either.

They may have a deal with the supplier that doesn't make this deal a loss. We don't know these things and if someone does know I would like to know. But, taking a Q on this deal will not earn them any extra profit. It is what it is.

OT but got the first free issue of 'yes!' today, came with a full size issue of RP with Unilever Qs:) According to a link posted on SD the Tacoma area is one of a few areas in a test marketing of this. Also had the ads for Office Max, K-Mart, Sears, Safeway and Best Buy. No Fred Meyer or Albertsons ads. I'm thinking anyone in the Tribune subscription area could get it.

I agree 100%. If anything taking coupons on this deal might make them lose more money (if they are losing money on this deal to begin with) because more of us will buy more of the pies and ice cream. Of course we don't know if they are actually losing money on this deal or not. But taking coupons does not make it better for them unless they are making a profit on these items; then they would make more money because more people would buy them and they would be making a profit on each one.

I did this one (folgers only tho, got 5 of the things) using the MQ & the sq (tho that only covered 2 of them, which was fine). & i got the 5. no worries.
