Thanks to couponing, frugal living, and a complete shift in thinking and lifestyle, DH and I have reached the goal we set for ourselves a little over a year ago.

WE HAVE PAID OFF ALL OUR CREDIT CARD DEBT!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's so exciting!! We had over $13,000 in credit card debt last year and now it is down to $0 (and will definitely stay that way). It has been a hard ride, but we made it! Our other goal was to buy a house, and we managed to achieve both almost at the same time.

Big thank you to everyone on the boards...your advice and good deals have helped us so much in this journey!!

We still have financial goals to achieve of course...student loans, retirement funds, paying off a car, paying extra on our mortgage...but we've come a long way, baby!

I don't know if it's true or not, from my own experience, don't close them all out. You can ask that your credit limits be adjusted (lowered) at the card holders request!!

We've had a very rough few years (financially with credit card debt), but have finally made some progress in the past year...I want to be like you one day (debt free!!!)!

Wow - I'm amazed this thread is still around!

As an update, we paid off my car not long after the OP, and the only debt we currently have is our mortgage and student loan.

We are expecting our second child in several months, and are paying for everything (including medical bills) in cash. We have also worked hard to build up a nice savings that will cover mine and DH's time off from work when the baby is born (aptly nicknamed the Chloe/Jordan fund).

It is do-able, and it is maintainable!
