sorry if this has already been asked. i'm still learning how everything is organized here. :wavehi:

i'm thinking of this in particular when used in conjunction with a doubled coupon. for instance...

free salsa when you buy chips. $1.00 q off chips. can i double the $1 q and get the free salsa as well?

thanks!

This totally depends on how the coupons "attach" and the policy of the stores as well as their policy on doubles.

Let's say however, that the store doubles all coupons and that the free salsa attaches to the salsa and not the chips. In that case, yes, you should be able to get $2 off chips and free salsa.

Here's another way of looking at it. Coupons are configured so that the register recognizes them in two ways: 1) "buy both salsa and chips and get $2 off both" OR 2) "buy the salsa in order to get $2 of the chips". In #1 it is basically a $X off 2 coupon. In this case, the register assigns your salsa coupon to the salsa. Then when you hand over the $X off 2 coupon the register beeps because it has already applied a coupon to the salsa. It's like trying to use two manufacturer's coupons for the same item. In #2 you can buy the salsa using a salsa coupon. The register assigns the coupon to the salsa. Then you buy the chips. And the register assigns the $X wyb Y coupon to the chips.

That being said, in my experience, most of these types of coupons are of the #2 variety. The only way to find out which type you have is to try it out.

Clear as mud? :wink7:
