so i've read on here that you can have as many cvs cards as people in the household. does this mean actual cards on the same account or different accounts for each person? i went to both of my stores and they both said it was company policy that you can only have one account per household. the one guy (my fav employee!) said "you can sign up for 20 cards, i don't care. just write your name on it." and handed me a stack of forms to fill out lol! i genuinely think i am right so i filled one out in my dh's name, but i didn't fill out 20! i had so many dayquil coupons and flex money i wanted to get one more ecb this week. anyway, am i breaking the rules?
also i just linked my email and my card on the website. in my balances thing it says that i have 3 ecb that haven't been used, 2-$10 and 1-$5. it listed one $10 for dove and one $10 for the cold remedies thati got last night. i thought i had already used the $10 dove one, i think during last nights transaction for the cold remedies. what the heck? is it just not in the system yet or something or did i really lose my ECB?!?!? if so can i redeem the lost ecb online?
thanks cvs pros! :) your hard work here teaching newbies is definitely appreciated. last night i scored 7 dayquil and 1 tylenol severe cold for around $3 oop. ;)

I only have 1 card for myself. I've thought about getting a card for dh, but just keeping track of mine is enough work as it is!!
The thing with online...is that it takes a while to catch up. It will show in your account for days or even weeks until it gets purged. I still have one showing from mid-Sept that I spent weeks ago. As long as you keep track of the actual ecb as you are spending/receiving, I wouldn't worry to much about the online summary.

Before anyone gets ticked, I'm simply stating MY opinion, with MY experiences. The "corporate policy" "suggests" one card per household.
I find that people with 20, I have heard as many as 40, mostly just take away from those of us with 1 or 2. Personally my wife has one and I have one. Other than selling product I have a hard time understanding what people are doing with the quantities they are buying. I have stockpiles of things that we use and I do give some items away, but having ten to twenty times what I get would be plain nuts. Not to mention that there is nothing left to do the deals when people use the massive number of cards they have. Many people here also commit fraud, The ads these days often state one per household, that does not mean one today and one on friday, or one per card, it means one. Obviously CVS can't follow multiple cards and going to different stores, so that one is all about conscience.

I have one card and my hubby has one. I use mine all the time but he rarely uses his- there is just no need. And it is a pain trying to kep track of who bought what and with one card. The only times we have used his was when there was a really good sale on something that we need/ use frequently. To be honest, it is a good thing many CVS stores (including mine) take expired ECB because we just do not use his card.

thanks everyone. yeah i don't get the 20 or more cards. and just like http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/images_hcw/misc/images_hcw/spacer.gif elizabethhouts (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/members/elizabethhouts-164063.html) said i was interested in a card for him for this one deal i was doing, i for sure wouldn't be able to use his card regularly, i'm just barely organized enough for mine lol!
i did recieve an email back from cvs and this is what it says:
Thank you for contacting CVS/Pharmacy ExtraCare in regards to how many ExtraCare card's per household.
We recommend one ExtraCare card per household which allows for the greatest opportunity to earn rewards and coupons, (everyone in the house contributes to the one account). Please be advised that your husband is able to get an ExtraCare card registered with his information. For your convenience, you can pick up a set of ExtraCare cards at any CVS location, you can also sign up by visiting CVS.com or by calling us at 1-800-746-7287.
Thank you for giving us an opportunity to serve you.
Sincerely,
Kimberly

so i don't get it. it says dh can get a card with his info...does that mean on my account? or his own account? it seems like a kind of ambiguous response. any thoughts?

I have a card & my dh has a card. They are on separate accounts. Meaning each ecb is "attached" to one particular card because each card has its own individual number. Hope this makes sense.

the number of cards per household is your choice- cvs just limits the deals to each household. so, you can have 3 cards- but only do the pampers deal once per hh. you can do it on your card, his card, or the cat's card- but just once. i keep several cards open because they get different coupons, and i like to have the choice.
but i only did the medicine deal on the red card. (poor purple has to wait his turn).

I have 3 cards, but shop for 3 households.
Online thing - sign yourself and your DH for an account online with CVS Extra Care. Make sure that the email addresses are different under each account, thus you will always know when $/$$ comes into the email which card it belongs to. Also, use different phone numbers for each card.
It usually takes them about 48 hr to update the ECB info online.

So i can have a seperate account for each of us but only do the limit 1 ecb on one card not both? Cause that is kinda why i would want to get another card is to take advantage of those deals more than once.
i guess it depends on if you read that email response as my dh can have a seperate card or seprate account. Still not sure on that but i do feel quite dense right about now lol!
is it bad to want to get the deals more than once if it is ok per corporate that dh gets his own card? Idk its not like i have 20. seriously that is insane. Even if i read the email in favor of dh being allowed to get his own card i feel kinda naughty for doing it.

as a cashier i think it's suspicious and raisesd red flags whenever i see customers have like 5 cards. there's always issues with them trying to use ecbs/coupons from one card on another card's transaction, and 9 times out of 10 they try to return the items the next day. it's so easy to scam the system but like another poster said, it's all about conscience...

I didnt even think about returning them. im so naive! i guess it might benefit someone to have 101 cards i guess.

I believe it is more than ok to have a card for your DH. I personally do not like when people have 20 cards, but to each is own, they might have a reason to... It is perfectly ok to want to do the deals more than once because you have a need for the product. As long as you do not wipe out the shelves on a regular basis, this should be fine. :wavehi:

Wow, this is sad... Return? I do not believe in cheating the system this way or any other way when the system is so easy to operate to get great deals. I mean people should have some conscience...

Technically as an employee you can have more then one card but we can only scan one card per transaction. Like u have ECB on each card you cant scan 4 cards and use all the extra bucks together. Just like if we scan a store card we trash it becuase some people dont care for one and they may have purchased towards an ECB item so it would be unfair to give one a leg up like someone bought $12 of the $20 of candy to earn the $5 ECB then the next customer buys like $10 but neither had a card and used the stores that last person if was given the card would get the ECB when they didnt purchase the entire amount needed for the ECB. I have my employee card and the card i had before i worked there. But i dont get discounts on sale items. So technically if ihad the MFQ i could do seperate transactions on seperate cards to ge tsomething if it was a good deal. I think it makes mroe sense in my head. But if you have 5 cards i dont know of any employee unless they just dont care that would scan ALL 5 in one transaction.

you might want to check with your manager about you personally having more than one card- i'm quoting here from a cvs employee booklet:
EXTRACARE PROGRAM
OPERATIONS MANUAL EXTRACARE PROGRAM
The Employee Discount cards serves as the employee’s
ExtraCare card and earns Extra Bucks through the
discount card. The use of personal ExtraCare cards by
employees is prohibited. Employees violating this
policy will be subject to disciplinary action up to
and including termination.
