View Full Version : Harris Teeter: I'm confused. What the heck happened?

I went to HT during lunch to partake of the long awaited triples. The cashier scanned all my items, scanned all my qs and announced my total:

-$1.71!

What?! Of course standing in line I wondered how that happened since I knew I had bought many items that were not going to be free after coupon plus HT's system doesn't allow the q to double/triple past the value of the product.

Once I left and reviewed my receipt I saw the following two lines on my receipt:

RD Associate Rwd Pts: 25.00
SC VIC Associate Rwds 5.00-

Obviously that's what caused my overage (don't worry I bought gum, so no money back to me from HT). But what is this? Did I hit the jackpot? Did I do something special to earn this? I am so confused. Don't get me wrong, I love free money just as much as the next person. I just want to know what it is and is it repeatable?

TIA!:thanks7:

Looks like you got an employee's "Associate Rewards". Did the mgr do an override and use their card?
I have seen it mentioned that employees earn points that can be redeemed for cash, free stuff etc.
That would be a shame for the employee to give up their points like that - you would think it wouldn't be so easy to transferr them to a customer like that.

That's what happened to me several years ago. It was during one of those shop 14 of 16 week deals and get such and so. When the employee scanned the override card it beeped and they scanned it again and it worked fine. meanwhile, the first scan was their card and they got the credit for that week instead of me. So that could have happened if they had their card with their override card.

Nope. No employee card scanned or anything. At least not that I saw. I didn't have any overrides.

Well then maybe you're spending to much time in HT and they think you are an employee so they've started giving you Associate Points!:hysterical6:

I had associate rewards points on my receipts (at the bottom where they tally sub club points, fresh catch rewards etc) for a few weeks but I just checked and they are gone. Weird but lucky you!

I too had the same $5 reward on my receipt.

This was a HT I do not frequent (Walnut in Cary NC) and no manager or anyone else scanned their card or made adjustments.

Maybe a glitch in their computer system?

One time I had a $5 deduction and it said Ranchers Rewards or something. I was at the self checkout. I still have no clue what that was about.

Another time I went to pick up some blueberries for work and had my managers cards and there was another $5.00 deduction.

I'd like to get that $25.00 one tho! LOL
