Got this is an email from Foodlion, thought a heads up was needed!

Dear Valued Customer,

As an MVP card holder and as one of our customers who has indicated a desire for e-mail messages from us, we are sending you this alert regarding a ground beef recall by one of our suppliers.

Fairbank Farms notified Food Lion LLC today that our company received a portion of fresh ground beef products that are part of Fairbank Farms' national product recall. The recall is isolated to 93/7 ground beef purchased at Food Lion stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. In an abundance of caution, any customer who purchased 93/7 ground beef at Food Lion with the sell by date of Sept. 21 through Oct. 8 should return the meat to the store for a full refund. The company is removing any affected product from store shelves immediately.

Thank you for being a valued customer.

I got this email too - I have to say, I think is is kind of ridiculous to send out an email on November 2nd about ground beef with a sell by date of September 21 through October 8th!! Yes, I know folks could have it in their freezers still but I don't save the packaging when I freeze ground beef, I just wrap it in foil so I still wouldn't know if I had any of this or not.

Boo on Food Lion and Fairbanks Farms for this one!!

Yep! Boo on them! I got the email too (don't *think* we got any *that* lean from FL though). We divide it up at home, re-wrap and freeze. Who knows if we have bad stuff or not?

Does anyone know if the Sirloin we bought and had ground last week would be part of this??

I would be concerned that it could have been processed on the same equipment as the contaminated beef and wouldn't want to chance it. I would take it back for a refund.

You won't need to worry about that. This was sold starting 10/14, more than a week after the re-call period.

I'm sure we had some meat from that period, but it has been long gone. Hope we don't die.

It is for the PRE ground beef, not what they grind in the store. This meat was sold at other stores too, not just Food Lion, they had it on TV this morning, they say Bjs and Walmart are part of it too.

Pre-ground meat? I've never seen than at any of our area Food Lions. Truthfully, Wal-Mart is the only place I have ever seen the pre-ground stuff, and I wouldn't buy meat from Wal-Mart is it was the last place in town.

I'd just go cow huntin'...if you know what I mean.

Our Lowes Foods only does preground.

I don't buy it from Walmart either...I learned that a few years ago.
