so i got the pure foundation and a different regular mascara that was suppose to be 50% off but totaled up as free

so i paid 6.xx because she only charged tax on after coipon price then got a 10 rr still a money maker oop $6-7

if they had the true blands mascara it would have been 9.99 + 6.99 - 6.99 and get back 10 rr and 5 rr oop $10-11

from what I've read, the one coat mascara does NOT print the $5 RR, only the pure blend mascara priced 6.99 does. also, they ring up BOGO instead of B1G50 in some stores so its like paying only for the foundation @ 9.99 and getting back $10 and $5 RR. The free mascara @ 6.99 is taken off at end of receipt. this is an easy deal, no coupons involved, just the sale and RR promo works.

I stopped and got a True blend foundation and the mascara. It gave me both the 10 + 5 RR. Took off for the free item but could not use the $4. coupon as thats for the one coat only. So paid 9.99 plus tax

Now i have the 10 and 5 to play with. Instead of doing this all over again and putting out so much money and having all these RR that is hard to roll heres my plan and hope it works.


Buy True blend foundation and a one coat masacra give them the $4.coupon and the $5 RR. Pay .99 plus tax and get another $10. no $5. rr this time

Math:

9.99 + 6.99 -6.99 free - 4.00 coupon - 5.previous RR = .99 plus tax get a $10. RR


Now I have 2 $10. RR's to play with.

Just a FYI reminder.......Walgreens RR are issued by Walgreens and expected to be used at Walgreens. If you have a store that will accept Walgreen RR :BigHand:, but sorry no discussing it here in the Walgreens forums.

Just got back from my missouri walgreens, 7pm. Bought the Almay Pure Blends foundation at 9.99, the Almay Pure Blends mascara 6.99. Rang up as B1g1 free. To make my transaction even better bought the Almay One Coat mascara, black and black brown (waterproof) at 6.99 each x4. They also rang up at b1g1 free, then used the November coupon for that mascara, took off 16.00 for those 4 that only cost 14.00! Used the extra 2.00 overage on Herbal Essence shampoo and hairspray 2/7.00 and used the coupon in mailer for free shampoo and 1.00 off. Drumroll..... paid w/ previous 10.00 RR earned and 59 cent oop! I did a search for "Walgreens Almay Register Rewards" and it came up w/ several blogs w/ the deal on it. I can't remember which one I got the info from so I can't give credit, but heres the deal:

I think that all of the Almay makeup is ringing B1G1, if your store has the B1G1 as opposed to the B1G1 50%. Only the Pure Blends Mascara, Foundation, and one type of Eye Shadow (think it may be Pure Blend also, the sign was on the shelf), are producing the RR's.

Wouldnt you be better to NOT but the pure blend foundation on this tranny....buy something else almay you need maybe? Because your buying a FARR item but not getting the RR bc you are using the $10 rr here
So wouldnt it be better to leave that item there either for yourself later or another customer later since your not benefitting from the RR?

If you wanted more foundation you could just replace it with another non RR type and your oop would be the same but you wouldnt "waste stock" by getting a FARR product that you wont get an RR on :shrug7:

I read on another thread that the RR from the Pure Blend mascara can roll into the foundation but I'm not as concerned with that because I have Quaker RR to roll from last week that I'll be using to pay. I guess I just want to do this in the least amount of transactions possible because my store is great but I know that they have several shelf-clearers that try to do 10 transactions in one visit. I don't even like to do 2. I like to do the least amt. possible!

Oh, and yes, I'd say that the One Coat overage would eat away at the cost of the Pure Blends foundation.

Doing them together in one transaction is okay.

My store isn't doing the B1G1, but if it were what I'd probably do is-

1 Foundation, 1 Pure Blends Mascara, 2 One Coat Mascara

Total OOP would be 8.97 and you would get back a $10 & $5 RR

The more One Coats you get (if you are getting the frees) the less your OOP ends up being

I put the mascara up to scan and the cashier asked if I had a coupon for those. I said yes but held onto it - she said she had to have it as it was only good on ONE of the mascaras! She said I could not use it on all of them! So I told her to take them off then. Then she did the same thing on the Lubriderm - and she had to MANUALLY use the coupon to keep it from deducting the $1 from all 3 that I bought! I told her it had never been done that way - was it something new and she said yes. I think it was something new she made up in her head that day!

I was not happy - but still made money on the Lubridern... :-)

I think it is interesting that cashiers override the corporate policy, which is obviously in place since they are the ones that issue the coupons AND program the registers to take them. Maybe one should call Wags corporate when this happens? :whistle67:

Well that was a mess! They only had one pure blend foundation in my shade and only 1 each in 3 other shades and all the rest were gone.
I got my shade only of course. But that messed me up bc I was gonna do another transaction and I did but grabbed the PB eye instead and since my $3 theraflu rr didnt print I used my 2 $5 pb eye rrs thinking I was buying a foundation as planned but nope got mixed up.

So here's my experience today about 7:40 am

Finally found some PB foundation & PB mascara and fully expected it to be BOGO50% as the whole display had these stickers posted and this is what the ad states.

After clerk 1 scanned the mascara, I stopped her and asked why the mascara wasn't ringing up 50% off. She sent someone to check on the display (no flyer handy). Clerk 2 came up, having checked the display, and hit a button on the register. Mascara price came off (ringing up FREE).

Maybe Clerk 1 didn't hit sub-total and that's why the mascara price didn't adjust at first? Can anyone testify to that?
Anyway, now having only $9.99 to cover instead of the $13.48 I was expecting...my planned RR redemption went awry and I ended up paying $2.70ish oop.
Not bad, I still "made money" having only paid out $8 in RR and earning $15 RR, but I was hoping to not pay anything oop. :)

As of 11am-ish this morning at my store the shelves were 100% stocked and I got mine and I got my RR. I bought the foundation+the pure blends mascara, the mascara came off as free instead of 50% and I received the $10RR and the $5RR. I'm not sure what the deal is with the pp's store, I haven't managed to cover all the thread yet but things were normal at my store.

I was going to pay the out of pocket since I only had $10 and $5rr's from transactions the day before But the cashier was like "your not really going to pay that much are you?" Hey just came from WAGS. I asked when they were gonna get more foundation in. They told me it was discontinued and they were offloading it through the RR program.


This seems to support what happened to me tonight. Foundation was on clearance for $3.49 and I didn't get the RR, but the mascara still produced $5 RR. Going to be going tomorrow to talk to the Store Manager, see what's going on.

I haven't seen it posted yet so I thought I'd go ahead and see if anyone else was able to get the $1/1 IP Brinks Almay coupon. I had written Almay on Monday of last week and by Wednesday they had sent me two seperate links for the coupons.

I got the last tube at my wags and they haven't restocked.

I run the cosmetics dept at my Walmart and I haven't heard about this product being discontinued and I'm still able to order it, but who knows.

The sales lady at my walgreens told me that they clearanced out the older ones and have the newer ones ordered.. I actually was able to find them at 2 different stores and bought them... The sales lady at the first one asked me to grab her one before they sold out...lol

This has been fairly frustrating for me. I'm new to Walgreens and CVS deals, but this sounded like a good place to start. On my first attempt I tried the mascara, w/ Nov savings coupon. She rang it up and told me my total: $4.32. I thought that it was going to be free! I started to ask her if the coupon rang for each mascara, she said it did, and how could I argue that the clearly marked b1g1/2 off was supposed to ring up b1g1 free? So I paid, and left.

Well, the point is to save money not spend it, and I have 2 mascara at home, so I decided to return the mascara and try again with the foundation. The customer service lady had a really hard time doing the return because of the coupons for some reason, she couldn't get it to include the tax. After about 10 minutes she says "Well, I got it to $4.06 is that enough?" *sigh* fine. I'm trying not to make any enemies at my local stores. Every WAGs cashier I've had at 3 stores has been unfriendly and exasperated with couponing. Turns out, they were out of the foundation anyhow, so no deal for that trip.

Next, I read about some good deals using the Healthy Savings Coupon book. I've been to 2 Wags and no one knows what I'm talking about - they all show me the Nov book and say that's all there is. Is this not in KS/MO stores? Neither of them had the foundation in stock, either.

So, approximately 5 trips to various Walgreens later I'm out 26 cents and have yet to get any good deals. I kind of like the "treasure hunt" aspect of couponing, but I am about ready to give up on Wags. I've spent way too much time both researching and driving to stores to be empty handed - that's no deal! Plus, the unfriendly cashiers really make me feel like I am being trashy and a pain in the ass. :sad:

As for the Healthy Savings booklet with the Lady and kids in front, you're not alone. Many ppl can't find that one.

My advice, don't give up. There will be other deals that come along.

I'm wondering if they're discontinuing one of the types of foundation but not the other? Online Wags has two kinds listed, one has SPF and is $9.99 (what my store has) and the other is $13.99 with no SPF. Maybe they are discontinuing the one with no SPF? Confusing lol

I came to write the same thing! The week of the B1G1 1/2 off sale, my store had the empty spots and price tags for the foundation at $13.99. This week the space is filled with the foundation at $9.99. Since they didn't have any of the $13.99 I don't know what was different about them, but it seemed like they were switching out an old for a new. Anyway, I really like this stuff so I'm hoping to get a couple more. Now just have to figure out what to use the RR on.....

I bought the Almay Foundation today to roll some RR's and when the $10 RR printed the expiration date was 11/20/09. One week from today! They are ususally 2 weeks so I was hoping not to have to shop until Thanksgiving. Did anyone else notice this? Thanks.

JaneRads don't get discouraged. There are so many deals out there soon you will be swimming in free makeup, shampoo, toothpaste, body wash, razors, the list goes on. I refuse to pay for toothpaste now since it's always free! I can never find coupon booklets that everyone talks about either.

Does anyone know how long this deal is through? Is it only the foundation that is producing the RR now? Thanks!

Agree with cwilliams! There are so many deals out there that you can't get discouraged when one doesn't work out. When I can't get one, I just move on to the next! :smile:

I think the foundation is a monthly deal, I read. I could be wrong though.

Mascara is no longer b1g1 or b1g1 50% off. Eye shadow and lip product still had tags up for RR... AND I did find foundation in stock.. but RR had exp date of 11/20... Hm... Can you do returns IF you return the RR with the product? I would have been farther ahead keeping the RR I used to pay with in the beginning....

after reading a lot of reports that the PB foundation RRs are expiring in a week when they bought them this week, I'd rather not roll into the almays.

I'm better off keeping my RRs earned this week that can be used till TD or BF.

If I get the one week exp on almay foundation, there is nothing next week that interest me to spend the $10 RR. I will lose if I roll my Bayer RRs buying the PB almay. M2C.

You ONLY get 1 $10 RR even if you buy 2 foundation, its 1 RR per offer. I guess you got confused thinking it was BOGO so you got 2 and disappointed to find out, you had to pay full price for the other one since it printed just 1 RR.

Just curious, how did you end up with $17 OOP after using 3 x $5 RRs? the 2 foundation should've been only 19.98 less $15RRs = 4.98 plus tax. UNLESS you bought an expensive filler to use an extra RR?

as to returning one, if I were you, I'd gauge my store(s) as to friendliness scale. if they are firendly and reasonable after you explain that you got confused with the offer that is why you're returning the other, you may get your full refund. BUT, in case they already strict to begin with and you want to continue shopping there, I suggest you weigh your options carefully because if they perceive you as one of those who frequently buy with intent to return, they may not be friendly anymore.

Picked up another PB Foundation today. $10RR printed with x11/23/09. My next test will be Thursday.. I'll grab another one and the $10RR SHOULD have a x11/26/09. I'll let ya know!
