Ok, so I called them just now....... Frederick rt. 40......... and guess what

:dance7: They WILL !!!!!!!!!!!!! :dance7:

I specifically asked if they would accept the $$/$$ total purchase ones AND the dollar doubler ones. The girl asked the manager, who said yes they would, but I would have to ask for the floor person to come to the register when I was ready because they have to figure out how to do it. They are expecting me later today....told them I would be doing it on Tombstone pizza (my Q's are $1/2, but I want them).

My local store won't accept competitor coupons, either. Usually they have them stuck to the cashier podeum that they need to be on the lookout because someone used one and they are not suppose to accept them.

I know the pharmacy will accept a competitor coupon, just not the rest of the store.

Yay! This is my store and I have the $10/$30 Bottom Dollar coupon! I'm so excited!

Here are my two cents …

+

#1) If Giant Eagle, as a whole, accepted competitors’ coupons I think they would make it an advertising angle, promoting it highly.

#2) Accepting competitors’ coupons usually is a YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary) situation that is usually a result of a competitor cutting into the market share (in their area).

The thing to do is ask a person in authority and not just a cashier.

That person is the store manager.

I learned that one when I asked a cashier if their restaurant honored their expired coupons.

The cashier look at me like I was from Mars … with the attitude that ‘Why in the Sam Hill would anyone honor expired coupons???’

It turns out they did and that cashier got a lesson when I politely asked to speak to the manager and in front of that cashier, the manager said they did indeed honor their expired coupons.

High Five!

Honoring expired coupons and / or competitors’ cents off coupons are marketing strategies used by businesses to win customers ‘over to their side.’

It is all in the cost of doing business, similar to the costs involved in putting out an ad in the newspaper.

Stores know that if they honor a competitor’s coupon, that customer is:

• Most likely to spend more money than planned
• Going to come back to that store more often
• Going to tell others about the store honoring competitors’ coupons

Just ask!
