Can we make a list of the food banks in the area or other places that will take both food and non food donations?

I'm not exactly sure which non-food items you are referring to. I do know the Food Bank in Delmont off of Route 22 took bottles of Loreal kids shampoo yesterday. They also take frozen food.

Anything non food really. Toiletries, cleaners, etc. I have searched for food banks or places to make donations around here and the closest one is like 50 miles away it seems. I just thought if we had a list it would be easier for people who haven't donated before to start.

My church accepts donations of anything non-perishable, freezer and refrigerated items depends on their storage area. Once a week, they have a time when people can come by and pick up items. If dropping off, you leave it by the St Charles statue inside the santuary. Perishables must be left with the church office.

Actually you can see the top of the church from Southern Park Mall if you look west down 224.

Here is a link for Frederick with 8 area foodbanks:

Frederick County, MD - Official Website - Emergency Food Program (http://www.co.frederick.md.us/index.aspx?NID=166)

In addition, my church works with 'The Frederick Rescue Mission' which operates the 'Frederick Community Kitchen' that serves meals daily in addition to giving food boxes. They had to turn many families away in Sept for the boxes because they did not have enough food for all of them so the church did a food drive one Sunday.......it was amazing, in all there were 2 pickup trucks filled with food that morning when all was said and done, and thanks to God and this site I was able to donate alot! The Rescue Mission website is:

The Pgh Food Bank HQ in Duquesne (the nicer section of Duquesne - lol) accepts all non-perishable items as well as H&B and cleaning/paper/etc.

The Women's Shelter of Pgh's accepts H&B items - here's a link to their current wishlist: Women's Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh - Ways to Give (http://www.wcspittsburgh.org/Page.aspx?pid=350)

Bethlehem Haven in Pgh also accepts H&B as well as other items -- here is a link to their current wishlist: Bethlehem Haven, Wish List (http://bethlehemhaven.org/public/index.cfm?SubductedCat=1&WebPageID=45&SubcategoryID=17&TheMenuItem=5)

North Hills Community Outreach has a great food pantry in Allison Park just a few minutes from the McIntyre Square Giant Eagle. THey accept perishables, frozen food, canned food and non food items. The non food items they ALWAYS are in need of are kleenex, toilet paper, paper towels and tampons, soap, shampoo. The reason they need these items is because people can't purchase them with food stamps. Thanks for your donations.

I know someone already mentioned the food bank in Delmont I just wanted to put the contact info. I just spoke to them and they are more than happy to accept frozen food. (think birdseye)
