I put this in the monthly SCR thread for the spend $100, get $30 L'Oreal deal, but I think this deal can stand alone as pretty good, too.
L'Oreal Excellence is $7.99 - $2 in ad q - $2 mq (10/18 RP or $1 9/27 RP) - $1 adperk q = $2.99 (or $3.99)
throw 2 of those with $4.02 in filler (Herbal Essences shampoo/conditioner/stylers are free/MM after qs) with a $5/20 adperk for $1 something OP per $15.98 in credit
OR 3 with a $5/25 and $1.03 filler for a low OP per $23.97 in credit
If you go to the L'Oreal website, you can also get $2 off any hair color coupons.

So Rite Aid is a "participating store" for this rebate? I just found the forms at Brookshires the other day and noticed it stated that the rebate was only good at "participating stores" where the forms are found. I don't know which stores are included and was kind of hesitant to try the rebate anywhere exept Brookshires in case the rebate was rejected because of it. That will make my day if I can do the Herbal Essence deal at Rite Aid + use it for the Pink Kitchenware set!!

Man, Rite Aid is turning into a bummer for me this month. I've already sent away for the kitchen set so there really isn't much I want for this week either. Between that and Walgreens' pathetic sales my life is boring!

Mindy: Just this week's Excellence purchases COULD total up to the $100--if you buy 13 of them. ($7.99 x 13 = $103.87 of credit). It is up to you whether you want to do it like that or not.
What I mean by the credit amount is that I've been trying to figure out how to get to the $100 point with the lowest out of pocket expenses possible. One calculation I used is what would happen if I used $5 off $25 purchase coupons and split the deal up into several transactions that way. I came up with:
$7.99 Excellence cream
- $2 in ad q
-$2 manufacturer's q from 10/18 SS or $2 printable at L'Oreal website
-1 video values q
= $2.99 per hair color
If you put it together in a $25 purchase, you'd have something like this:
$7.99 (- $5 in qs) x3 + $1.03 filler (minimum) = $25 (or more) -$5/25 q=
$3.97 out of pocket ( + filler cost) for $23.97 credit toward the $100 needed to get $30 back from L'Oreal.
Does that answer your questions?

Hey- I just saw on my video value account the new coupon for Quilted Northern. ($5/2 12 packs) Does anyone have any idea how much this is? I was thinking maybe next week with the BOGO Herbal Essences and the BOGO Herbal Essences coupons maybe paired with a $5/$25 and the coupon for the quilted northern from rite aid and a manufacturers maybe I could get it all free. (I have a million of everything else- but never TP. I am holding out for a free sale I think will never come!)

OK here is my grand plan for diapers :) Even though the pull ups are not on sale this week I think this should work out well with coupons.
#1
3 herbal essences shampoo @ $4.19 (12.57)
3 herbal essences stylers @ $4.19 (12.57)
1 Huggies pull ups jumbo @ $11.99
filler candy bar @ $.50
=$37.63
- BOGO sale HE $12.57
=$25.06
-$5/25 rite aid Q
-BOGO MFQ HE $12.57
-$2/1 october video values pullups rite aid Q ( I got 3 for watching 3 videos)
-$2/1 MFQ pullups
= $ 3.49
I am planning on doing this 5 times, using the various $5/20 or $5/25 coupons available, and some video values Q's I bummed off my sis lol.
Then I will have paid OOP $17.45, and get back $3 SCR for huggies, and a SCR voucher for a free huggies diapers. So all together after SCR $14.45 for 6 packs of pullups and 30 bottles of herbal essences :) I am also hoping to get my $10 gift card from the P&G SCR last month to use making it $4.45 OOP :)

I have a question. On my HE coupons, I see it says 1per purchase? It might be a market thing, but for those of you planning to use multiple coupons in a single transaction, do your coupons say 1per purchase (which in my experience beep at RA).

One per transaction = one coupon per time that you are rung up
One per purchase = one coupon for each item you are buying
The reason why the BOGO coupons beep at RA is because they are prompting the cashier to enter a price that the item sells for.
I used 5 coupons at a time with no issues because my store knows that one per purchase means one coupon per item.

The Video Values and ad coupons are both RA coupons, so you can only use one of those per item.
You can combine a manufacturer coupon with a RA coupon (bar code beginning with RC) but to my knowledge you can't combine a Video Values coupon and a RA ad coupon. The only exception to that would be the $5/$25 or $5/$20 that are not tied to specific products. HTH.

The sales started in California yesterday so I went to go get the Oral B toothbrush, GE bulbs and shampoo.
Just wanted to alert everyone about an issue with the toothbrush: After I bought all my items I thought my OOP was high and when I checked my receipt I noticed the toothbrush rang up for $4.99 and not $2.99 like the ad says. I went back to the cashier and she was going to just price adjust it but I worried I would have an issue with the SCR.
So we went to the shelf: there are 4 "crossaction" toothbrushes with the numbers 52, 53 (soft), 54 and 55(medium). These numbers appear in the top left portion of the hanger for the toothbrush.
My initial purchase was of #53 which rang up at $4.99. When the cashier rang up #52 it rang up at $2.99 so we returned my first toothbrush and I bought #52 and submitted it for the SCR.
I don't know which number is working for the medium brushes but if you buy the soft bristle ones only buy #52.

Oral B CrossAction Manual TB, (MM), -2.00
Sale: 2.99
Use: 2/1 x 6/30/2010 (found at dentist office)
SCR (#123): 2.99
SCR limit: 1
Total/Math: 2.99 - 2 q - 2.99 scr = 2.00 moneymaker
I'll feel kind of lame going to RA to buy a sole toothbrush. Maybe I'll find some good clearance? I'm outta BOGO HE qs from last month. :shrug7:

If you put it together in a $25 purchase, you'd have something like this:
$7.99 (- $5 in qs) x3 + $1.03 filler (minimum) = $25 (or more) -$5/25 q=
$3.97 out of pocket ( + filler cost) for $23.97 credit toward the $100 needed to get $30 back from L'Oreal.
Does that answer your questions?
Betsy
:rolleyes24: I don't mean to be rude or anything... :rolleyes24: But... Doesn't that add up to $10 oop including the filler cost? instead of the $3.97? :shrug7:

Please explain.
Thanks
$7.99 (- $5 in qs)
= 2.99 x3 = 8.97 + $1.03 filler = 10.00 (minimum) = $25 (or more) -$5/25 q=
$3.97 out of pocket ( + filler cost) for $23.97 credit toward the $100 needed to get $30 back from L'Oreal.
the math is correct. 3.97 OOP plus the cost of filler, the filler must be a retail of at least 1.03 so together that comes to $5 OOP but you could possibly find a filler that has a coupon making it less....... I think you missed the deduction of the $5 off $25 purchase coupon.

One question- what about the pricing of the herbal essences? Will I just have to make sure all my stylers are more than the shamppos since the coupon is specifically for the stylers and riteaid will give the lesser priced item free?

I'm not sure if this is what you're asking, but it doesn't matter if the stylers are more than the shampoo. RA has to follow the wording on the coupon and do as the manufacturer states for the coupon to be reimbursed. So, since the coupon says the styler is free, then RA will give the styler free, regardless of price.

OK, so for a scenario, assuming they are approx 4.99 each, would it work like this?
$4.99x6 Herbal Essences products = $30
$5 filler item = $35
- 5/25
- $15 Rite Aid BOGO sale
- $15 HE BOGO coupons
total = tax ?

I'm no expert, but I think it does matter--not because of the coupon, but because of the sale. I am assuming that Rite Aid is going to make the free item be whichever one costs less. If that's the styler, then Rite Aid and the coupon are going to try to make the same item be free twice. I'm hoping that I'll find items that are all the same price to avoid this.

So actually we should choose stylers that are more expensive than the shampoos/conditioners to make sure they don't ring up as the free items? Or if all the items are the same price, is it the order in which they are scanned that determines which items rings up as free in a BOGO sale?

I didn't use the $5/$25 Q (I'm a relative newbie to RA and was a little nervous about just getting all this free shampoo/styler anyhow), but did use 4 BOGO and 1 free Herbal Essences coupon along with a $1 Oral B Q. Got 5 shampoos, 5 hairsprays, and the Oral B toothbrush for $1.99 total--and will get $2.99 back in SCR, so it was a $1 MM .
Forgot to add that the shampoo/conditioners and stylers were all the same price ($4.49. Looking at my receipt I do see that the stylers are actually the items that rang in for free, so maybe the best bet at less coupon-friendly RAs is to just buy 2 stylers for each coupon.

11-08-2009, 09:54:27 AM
Wouldn't work for me. I don't want the stylers--just the shampoo and conditioners, so I'm definitely only getting one styler for each coupon. But I have a pretty friendly RA.
I'm planning to have them scan a styler first, then shampoo, then styler, then conditioner, then styler, then shampoo, etc.

I actually printed out this email about the rite aid coupon policies and took it with me to Rite Aid today (I didn't have any problems but wanted to be prepared). The email states that the stores will take BOGO coupons on a BOGO sale and that the items will then essentially be free.
Here is the link: Rite Aid Coupon Policy (Mod Edit--changed link)
(http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/riteaid/259055-rite-aid-coupon-policy-corporate-sent-me-10-27-09-a.html) Mods, I wasn't sure if this would be against the rules or not. Please delete if it is. :)

Ok- I am confused, lack a significant number of coupons, and am out of shampoo.
I am a bachlorette sharing an 8x11 box with another person, and I have no room to store. How can I get one free bottle of Herbal Essences? Will I have to pay for the styler? What coupon should I use, and where can I get the circular? Can I get the circular this week, or do I have to register and wait until next week? Can I print it from here?
EDIT: Oh, ok- do I go to the store where the buy one/get one is happening, and then use a single buy one/get one coupon from the circular. Ok. I think that's doable.

I did this today. I put the Herbal Essence styler on the counter first so that it would ring in with the price. I put the Herbal Essence shampoo on second so that it would ring up free. I gave the cashier the bo shampoo, conditioner or styler and receive a free styler coupon. That made the styler free. It went through with no problem. Both of the items were the same price.

Manager came over and said, "yep, that's right, you can't get them both free." I politely said, "that's not what your policy states" and he said, "you must be looking at an old policy"......I politely asked for my coupons back and left.

went to go hand her the b1 g1 free qs and she tells me that they dont accept them on b1 g1 free deals. she said she got yelled at this morning for accepting them. She called her manager, then I handed the cashier the rite aid coupon policy and told her i brought this just because i had issues with this manager before and i told her if i was her i would call corp and let them know how she was treated by her manager for following rite aids q policy. the manager walks up and the cashier handed her the policy And I said i brought this just for you from an email from corporate since i had problems with you before and corporate said that i should NOT have any issues but if i did to have you call them so that they can inform you of how things actually work with coupons. She didnt say a word!!!!!! she took the policy ok'd the transaction and off she went. RA;s customer service number is pretty good. I had a problem with a manager at my local rite aid about a month ago because of coupon usage. I called CS and they totally went out of their way to make me happy. Within a couple of hours the DM was calling me back to apologize and let me know I had every right to use my coupons.
Now before I go do a deal like Herbal Essences, I email CS to make sure it's okay, then when the cashier or manager gives me a problem (like they did yesterday), I let them know that I've already spoken to the higher ups, and have the DM's cell number on speed dial. They're learning to deal with me and my coupons now:wink7: Oh an always carry a copy of the coupon policy with you.

The HE coupon is buy one shampoo or conditioner and get one styler free.
With your scenerio, you would pay for one and get the other 5 free.
If you don't want to pay any OOP, you could buy 2 shampoos or conditioners (or one of each) and 2 stylers and you would get all 4 for free.

with 2 coupons for bogo HE you can get 4 products free, 2 from the coupons and 2 from RA.
you can get 2 shampoo, conditioner, or styler (or mix/match)
and then you need to get 2 stylers for the coupon to be applied to. since that is what the coupon dictates.

Ugh. The next time I tell you guys I'm calling about a SCR, stop me and tell me to just beat my head against a brick wall instead.
Ok, I called and got the scoop. Originally I bought a 40 soft toothbrush, which is supposed to qualify for the SCR. It was ringing up at $5.49 and I didn't notice till I paid. I returned that one. I bought the other one pictured in the ad, and it rang up $2.99. When I called, the woman just told me that the 40 soft is the one that qualifies and that I bought a toothbrush that is going to be on rebate 11/26-11/28 only. She said I bought it too early. I told her I bought the item in the ad, and also told her about the other one ringing up $5.49. She put me on hold and came back and said that "as a one time courtesy, I'll be sending a $2.99 check to you for the rebate even though you did not buy the correct item." Whatever. They need to check their records. I told her I'd spoken with others who did not have the correct Oral B qualify for the SCR either. I also told her that the 40 soft is obviously not programmed right because I bought that one first (the one that rang up $5.49) and it didn't qualify for the SCR. Luckily I still had the receipt for the one that rang up wrong. It's just a mess, so double-check your Oral B rebates.

I did read your post earlier and wrote that down, but that item was not working at my store. It rang up $5.49 instead of $2.99. RA's position is that people are not buying the correct toothbrush when what they have listed and what is ringing up as a SCR item are totally different.

HTH.
I've done it before...it is the same as Walgreens...when they have a coupon in the paper, one in the monthly booklet and one manufacture.

yeah! I did this deal 3 times yesterday, I couldnt believe there was any left on the shelves for me, I either dont have any competition here, or they just had restocked both stores!
question for ya'll though, are you finding a decent selection of stylers? The 2 stores nearby only had a selection of 4 different products, took me forever to find them! cause I was looking for.... at least 10 diffedrent products... not the tiny 1 foot shelf space HE had. (there were all kin ds of poo/conditioner, though....)wondering if I might have better luck at a bigger store, will make the drive if it is worth it

My store only has a few stylers too. Not much variety there, but like your store, I have a ton of shampoo to choose from.

My cashier started to give me a hard time and I did the whole explaination that my coupon was paying for the one that is the 'buy one' and she was so iffy. I explained that I had already talked to Corporate when they had the last BOGO sale (cover girl) and it is there policy to accept them.
She did so, not very happily, but she sure changed her tune after I offered her a set of coupons so she could pick some up as well!

I bought the small tube of St. Ives lotion (.99) and was able to use the RA VV (1.50)coupon on it with no problems, no beeps, no questions. The coupon excludes trial size, but the lotion does not say trial size and has its own spot on the shelf. YMMV

I dont know how much is HE for in my store but I have 5 qs so 5 X $4. xx is less than $25 to qualify for pink cookware offer i need something P&G for $4.XX or $1.XX depending on if my store has Oral B crossaction left or not. I checked my P&G qs and havent seen anything for a trial size item and dont have any idea what to buy to get the best deal (cuz dont wanna spend more than a buck for this offer since I need nothing for now)
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Isn't Tide P&G? My store has travel size packs for $1.39. You could use the $1/1 coupon, too. Makes it a cheap filler. I am assuming travel tides would count towards the rebate, but I don't know for sure.

I had a manager argue with my on the HE deal today. I pulled out my copy of the Q policy and showed her, and she still argued. So I read out loud the part about BOGO Qs and "essentially making both items free." There was a low whistle from the person in line behind me, obviously impressed! It was funny but embarrassing too. The manager did the deal without another word, and they kept the Q policy. Hopefully the employees will read it and it will help other customers in the future!

my backup plan was luvs using the $5 coupon I got in the mail... if you have one that should make diapers 2 or $3. and if you use the $5/20 or 25 rite aid q then you could grab a filler just to eat the overage and pretty much get everything free. I would guess the luvs should be about 8 or $9 but I dont know exactly.

At my store the Luvs were pretty expensive. I think they were somewhere between $11-12. I know RA regular price for Huggies and Pampers is $11.49 without a sale or coupon.

I was really surprised the last time I was there because Luvs are usually cheaper at other stores than Pampers and Huggies. Hopefully I'm wrong! :)

Actually, going back to feyzanour's question about filler for the cookware rebate...I called and was told that the $25 had to be in one purchase. You might want to call to verify before you waste a stamp mailing it in case your purchase is not valid.

Ready to laugh? I just double-checked today at my RA and Luvs are $14.99. :hysterical: Riiiiiight. Like I'd EVER pay that. I won't even pay $9.99 for Huggies or Pampers.

Call them. It's all messed up. SCR customer service tried to tell me I bought the wrong item but I bought the exact item pictured in the ad. Something is programmed incorrectly. They made it right for me.
