Its late so I wont tell me horrid tale right now, but I need to know these 2 things before I call corporate about my night at the Battlefield/Kansas store.
Did anyone get a raincheck for Reames noodles from this store ?
Has ANYONE ever had a cashier refuse a RC from another store ?
Thanks. I luv you guys. Will tell my story tomorrow - I need to tend to sick kids and head to bed.

The answer to both of our questions is yes I got a RC for the noodles and yes I have had ONLY the Battlefield store refuse a RC from the St. Louis street store.
I bet I could make a very good guess of the person who tormented you. Older guy thinning hair around 6 feet tall. He hates couponers often makes very rude remarks about couponers. The type that somehow feels you are taking the money you save directly out of his paycheck. The battle field store has been getting some heat from corporate for the attitude of some of the cashiers so yes do e-mail them and let them know your story.

Well Ill tell ya. Ive never had a mean face from anyone in Dillons let alone a rude demeanor. I often mention to cashiers and other customers how much I enjoy shopping there. Last night was horrible and my husband and I plan to contact corporate about it. I quite literally walked out holding back tears and I kid you not - felt sick to my stomache to the extent that I had to make a pitstop on our wya home
We went in on our way home from work(dh) and me working at church with the school kids. We split the shopping list so we could be quicker. I had the noodles with the RC, the Nut clusters ( they were out) as well as 4 boxes of crackers and 6 cans of milk. My Dh had 4 sets of mega event items and a RC for ester C ( which was written for 10 but they only had 3). I was going to do my part of the order and then head back to the van to get some work done (church) and wait for him. We shopped and checked out seperately but had exactly the same nasty experience.
I walked up to the self check lady and asked if her scanner was working so she could beep in my RC items. She said it wasnt but she was very nice. So I went to Ed's line - the only opened cashier. I handed him my RC and he said ( very gruffly)
* I cant take this - Its not from this store - and besides, we didnt even write rainchecks for these!*
Me: ( nicely) which store is it from?
Him: * 107*
me: I dont know which store 107 is ?
Him: * Dont you know where you shop ? I know where I SHOP ! ( almost shouting)
Me: Sir ? Did I do something to upset you ?
Him: No, why ?
Me: Because you are talking to me like I did something to you
Him: Well I know where I shop.
Me: Well, I do alot of different things around town and I shop at whichever Dillons is convenient to me. Maybe if they want us to redeem the RCs in the same store, they could label them with a location we can understand.
HIm: I forget
Me: ( still nicely) Can you accept the RC or can you not ?
Him: Thats what I was just about to tell you, I will do it this time but not again.
He then ignored me handing my money to him and when he did take it, he snatched it and shoved my receipt at me. The bag boy looked embarassed. I was embarassed - this old man was practically yelling at me.
Thats why I wanted to know the answer to those 2 questions. I KNOW that they muct have written RCs for the noodles because they were in ad and in high demand. I also know Ive used RCs at other stores and never heard a peep from a cashier. I wasnt rude, inconveniencing him or overloading him in any way - there was just no reason for it. Id say it ranks as my worst shopping trip ever.
Roger comes to the van and tells me he is so mad ( Its not easy to make him mad) Apparently he went to Eds line as well. His first Q was since there were only 3 Ester C would they mark his RC down or rewwrite it. Ed said flatly and rudely NO. ( My dh knows different bc Ive had clerks mark down RCs for me in the past) So he took his stuff and went to ask the front end mgr if she would do it. She said she would and they went back to Eds line. So he has a bad tude with Roger and gets to his Ester C coupons and practically yells WE CANT PAY YOU TO TAKE THESE OUT OF THE STORE. Roger said, well, you arent going to. ( He would have been fine if Ed had mentioned that and then marked them down to 4.49) Ed calls the mgr over to ask about it and then acts like it was Roger who requested her to come over LOL. He was so rude and nasty that Roger had to raise his voice to be heard. My poor dtr is standing there embarassed - the lady behind her whispered words of encouragement in her ear. The mgr said she can do it for 4.49 and Ed stuffed them in his folder. Roger went back in to talk to the cashier mgr and asked her if they were sending them in as is or marking them down b/c thats wrong. She said that he has to mark them down - and Roger pointed out that he didnt.
Ive dealt with him before but I guess I was feeling a bit more vulnerable than I have in the past because I really broke down  We decided to wiat and talk to mgmt today but then later decided to talk to corporate instead. Maybe if more ppl did this then Ed would be stocking shelves instead of checking. Im going to check out with Ed on purpose later on this week and I plan to have my guns fully loaded. If he wants to give me tude I will inform him in front of everyone that this is the way I feed my family. and if would rather I will get on food stamps and collect 1000-1200 per month from his taxes to feed them instead.
Oh - You'd be proud of my DH . While Ed was telling him how they dont pay ppl for taking things out of the store, my DH was thinking * Ok dummy - you just paid me .50 each to take those Halls outta here * but he didnt:hysterical: Oh- and we realized that big Ed failed to notice that the Ester C RC was from the sushine store :hysterical: so Ive got that on him too.
If someone has a RC from that store, Id love to trade you for a different one. Id love to have one incase I need to prove my point LOL

Holy Cow Tracy! I'm so sorry all that crud happened!! I would for sure call. In my year of couponing I have never had any bad experiences to speak of, nothing like that anyway (knocking on wood now). That's crazy. There is nothing wrong with using coupons. I'm just enough of a loud mouth I would have a cow if someone spoke to me that way in general, not just about coupons. You are a better person than me, I would probably have been kicked out of the store and been arrested for assault, lol!:whistle67:Ok, not really, I'm too old now, but you get my point, lol! There is just no sense in being treated badly, at any store, for any reason. Ugh!
I would say in general, that mega-couponers are rare. So, when one comes through the line, it gives the cashier a little something extra to do. Like, get on a power trip and feel important for that 5 minutes out of their 8 hour shift!! Always has to be a bad seed lurking around!
Keep us updated when you call!!
Hugs.....

I didnt check the dates, but will this event go thru next week as well ? If so, I was thinking -- maybe we can all plan to meet up and line up in Eds line - one after another - with our mega deals and coupons. Bring your rainchecks too ! Anyone else game for meeting on Eds Wednesday shift and give him a run for his money ?!? I still plan to call corporate - but I was thinking.... will this EVER even get to Ed on his level ? My DH is game as well so we have 2 carts -- anyone want to up the anti ? BTW - There are B1G1 Halls Qs on the display at this store. That ought to drive him bats - cause he will have to actually write in the coupon value =)

HAHAHA! I would meet you, but I'm all out of mega sale coupons. That would be funny though! I went through Ed's line last night and he didn't seem stressed. The skunk-haired lady bagged my groceries. One of my Snuggle q's beeped and we checked the items in the bags to make sure I was correct with the number of items, and I was (I still don't know why it beeped, but he pushed the Q through anyway). Maybe he already had a little talk with management before I came through?

Ed's probably harmless- I think his bark is worse than his bite. He's gotten to me a few times, and honestly, I do try to avoid his line if possible. I think he is just gruff in nature, and maybe doesn't mean to make us cry (he has had me almost in tears before, too). I don't know why some cashiers want to give couponers a hard time, I really try not to be annoying or snotty about my coupons- and I do everything right! I understand how you feel!
I don't remember if I've used RCs from other stores there or not, I think I usually redeem them at Sunshine- they are super nice there! Anyway, I figure I just ought to smile and be nice even though every time I approach his line I am all shaky inside! Good luck!

Im always pleasant with cashiers and do what I can to make thier jobs easier-- including silly things like making sure UPCs are facing the right way to zip by the scanner. I ask people how they've been and care about thier replies. Ed cant pin this one on me. I treat him the same way I treat anyone who helps me at a store.. Im glad you consider being yelled at and embarassed harmless, lol but Im not that thick skinned =0P

I totally know what you mean! I agree with you- he shouldn't treat us like this! I really am not thick-skinned either- I just feel kind of sorry for him and figure I shouldn't let him get to me (even though he really does). I just feel bad for him- I do want him to be nicer to us- but would hate for him to lose his job in this economy. It's a hard situation. I wasn't trying to take his side- I just equate him as one of those cranky older men (like in the movie "Grumpy Old Men") :) Like I said, I DO avoid his line at all costs!

I think it's a problem with the Battlefield store in general, though. When I go in there, I'm always on the lookout of one of the "non-head cashiers" and I would rather go through their line rather than one of the head cashiers. They are a little brash. I understand being accurate and making sure all of the coupons work and are scanned, but I don't have to be treated like an idiot. The head cashiers could definitely be a little more pleasant, it wouldn't kill them.

If the *ahem* redhead head cashier is checking, I will purposely wait in a longer line. I'd rather gouge my eyes out with a fork than deal with her. She's the one who tried to tell me they don't write RCs when they are only out of some of the flavors/varieties of an item. Tried to get out of writing me a RC for McCormick Grinders because they still had a couple flavors left, but were out of most.
I think everyone who has a bad experience there should let corporate know. It's a shame how they let that one store get away with such rudeness, especially since it's the closest store to me. LOL

I don't think I've seen her- I usually go at night and weekends, though.
I do wish I knew- what is the official Rain Check policy? When I got my RC for the Nut Cluster there on Sunday, the head cashier said they weren't supposed to write them if there was ANY parts of the deal still in stock- like the Post Cereal (but I didn't have coupons for those!), but she indicated the boy cashier I had could do whatever he wanted- so I told him that he could write me the RC for the Clusters. In the past, I've never had them tell me anything like that. One time Ed told me on those deals where if you "buy 4- get $4 off"- they can't write those with the extra $$ off- just the sale price. But yet I've heard of people getting them written with the price reflecting the $$ off. I just really need to stick to the Sunshine store I guess......
You know, maybe crankiness is just a thing head cashiers have- because when I did a retail job our head cashier was mean- she treated each customer like they were a criminal and was trying to cheat the store. I think they take their job a little too seriously!

I just knew it had to be good ol Ed that got to you. Don't let him fool you anyone he is not at all nice to anyone my best freind has a daughter who works their and he is just a mean nasty person by nature. They have had sooo many complaints about him. You should hear some of the stories that other cashiers tell about him. No one knows for sure why but even the mangers kowtow to him, they have often wondered if he is related to someone high up the corporate totem pole to get by with some of the things he has pulled. I will not shop at night at that store just to be sure I do not have to even see this horrid man. Humm maybe when you email corporate you should give them a link to this thread look how many of us have told about how rude he is. I do have a rain check for four bags as that was the number of coupons I had. If you need it it is yours as I got it the very first day of the sale due to them not having any stock out. Used the coupons later in the week but kept the rain check to get some more later if I needed them at the sale price without the coupons.

I am going to be by the battlefield dillions tommorrow night. Every year we go to Galloway Full Gospel for their hellelujah party. I will make sure that I go before and after the party. I have a bunch of rc from sunshine I can get on his nerves with. It doesnt even matter if I get these items. Its just the fact he is so nasty. I almost feel sorry for ED. He's got the coupon patrol on his back now. he,he.

This night is a safe, fun filled, and spiritual alternative to Halloween. We will provide a delicious Chili dinner, games, fun, skit, Gospel presentation, and Candy (my favorite) for every child. The event is free to all who would like to come. Call 863-7053 for more info.
When: Saturday October 31
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Where: Galloway Full Gospel Church.
3357 Farm Rd 146, Springfield MO
(1st rd North of Sunshine & West by pass, right on Farm rd. 146, Church is on the Left.)
the skit is 1st, then the adults usually go eat while the kids go to all the classrooms and collect "stamps" on their paper, once they get the required amount of "stamps" they get a walmart size bag of candy. 18 and under. I have been going to this for the past 11 years, and the kids and adults always have a blast. You can come dressed up, but they ask no blood, devil etc costumes.

She refused my wine tag coupons one time because in her words I would be getting the item too cheap and she was not about to let me get by with that. I told her fine and left my entire cart and went to another store.

Something is seriously wrong. Did you talk to someone at corporate? Did they send someone to read this thread? Because the red-headed meanie was eerily nice to me last time I was there. I was waiting for an alien to pop out of her head or something. It was a little scary.

LOL! I think I will stick to the stores on the North end of the city which is where I live.....I've never really had any real problems with the ones on Kearney and St. Louis......other than the occasional clerk who will skip a coupon in my stack. But they are nice to correct it.
I did ask one time for a RC for something that was on sale, yet not in the ad, and they gave me the RC but then turned around and said that.......they really only give RC's for things in the printed ad....

OMGosh I thought I was the ONLY one who had problems with ED and the Red head lady with the white spot. UGH
Ive called and talked to Mike (store manager) MANY times on him, when I went in there one time about 10 months ago he YELLED at me in front of EVERYONE up there, I was in TEARS and left with nothing.
And the poor little old lady that runs self check-out is as lost as they come. Bless her heart.
I wish there was another Dillons by my house besides the Battlefield one I would gladly go there before I go and almost want to stick a fork in my eye. lol
My SIL lives by the Sunshine store and they are always so nice and wonderful.
Thanks for making this thread I thought I was all alone with my Ed problems.
