I went to Meijer today (Detroit area) and the non-sale price is now 2.something for one gallon of Meijer brand milk. It used to be (I think) 1.98 and then on sale for something less. Most of the other places in our area are 1.99 for the non-sale price. For example today at Target all types of Target milk were 1.99. CVS for 2% milk only is always 1.99. Anyone else experience this?

Well I personally hope they are raising the prices a little bit. Farmers are starting to go bankrupt and soon we will be getting milk from China too. Just my 2 cents!

yep, in the GR area it's now 2.29/gal...Wish it would stay low longer, it was nice paying under $2/gallon!

OP, not sure where you are...but Aldi's here had a commercial for $1.49 gallon milk. It has been that price here for a few weeks. The commercial didn't have an end date...but, I wouldn't mind if it lasts a loooong time. The farmers can't be much worse than any of the rest of us. (My husband has been unemployed for months.)

I got milk for about $1.75 last week. Non sale price at our store is about $2.19 a gallon.
Low milk prices at the stores are not the reason diary farmers are struggling. It is the companies that collect the milk that are not giving their fair share to the farmers. Right now farmers are only getting about $11 for every 100 pounds of milk they produce. It was the same when it was was $4.00 a gallon. So even if milk prices were to go up to the consumer, the farmers are still not seeing it.

Thank you for the info. It's sad to see. We have a lot of farmers around here and I heard on the radio that they were having a day where everyone poured out a gallon of milk so production would go up. IDK..it was weird, but anyway. And for the person saying, "Who isn't going Bankrupt." I'm one of them that is pretty close to it so I wasn't trying to be rude or anything.
I hope things for everyone start getting better soon.

I was going to mention this. Aldi is always cheaper on milk than the big stores, unless the big stores are having a really good sale. I also get eggs there most of the time. This week eggs were .78/dozen at the Aldi near me.

I was just super happy to see the organic milk go on sale a few weeks ago ( Meijer brand) usually it's only the non-organic milk... it's super annoying esp. as more and more pedi's are recommending that young toddlers only drink organic and less and less family's are willing to buy the chemical slush they call milk... no growth hormones and antibodics with my milk please.

Milk is 1.75 (limit four) this week at Meijer. I noticed today that Target increased their prices to 2.09 per gallon. CVS is still 1.99 for 2% milk.
