Hi,:wavehi:
One more find today for coupon clippers!
In the Red Plum insert of my local regional newspaper in N VA area, The Times Community News (which has county papers--Fairfax Times, Loudoun Times, etc.), there is a great Competitor Coupon for you to use at HT.
The coupon is a $10/$30 Coupon for Bottom Dollar stores. You can use this coupon as a Competitor Coupon at HT (or other stores perhaps). I found these coupons in the Red Plum insert of 10/21/09's Wednesday papers. It may also be in your Red Plum mailer inserts or Red Plum coupon inserts in your Sunday papers (10/25/09 or earlier). It may be YMMV in your area.:hysterical:
So I grabbed about 20 FREE The Times newspaper for the inserts. Often local regional papers will have the SAME coupon inserts as the Sunday newspapers. Check it out if possible.

I have searched and searched for the regional paper (the Times) but can't find it and we don't get them in the mail here. Guess I need to keep searching, would love to cancel my Sunday paper that we don't even read. I know I see boxes that might be to hold them, but they are ALWAYS empty.

Check out your local libraries in the "freebie" section where newspapers, announcements, etc. are near the Community Bulletin Boards section. Also, ask the Resource/Information Desk Librarian where the papers are located.
Also, you can call The Times Community newspapers and find out where their newstands are located near your home or work location. Their web site is below--
www.timescommunity.com (http://www.timescommunity.com) (The Times Community's site/info.)
Hope this helps--

Don't forget to use the Bottom Dollar $/$$ Competitor Coupon which I posted about in an earlier post. Perhaps we will have Triples next week?:hectic1:

Thanks Foodie!! Repping you. I have never used a comp Q at HT and this one totally skipped me. I will use it now :) Do you know if the $30 is before or after all Q's?

Thanks Foodie. I've seen the boxes, but they are always empty. I'll have to check the library.

They sent me those every week from Oct of last year until July of this year, so I imagine they'll send them to you for awhile.

I just wait till my subtotal reached $30.00 and up ($.01 over $/$$ amount) without VIC Card discounts or coupons (Doubled/Tripled). Then I present my Competitor Coupon then VIC Card and finally coupons, etc.
That way the total is reduced BEFORE ALL DISCOUNTS. This works better for me.
Hope this helps--

I stopped buying the Sunday paper for a while and stocked up on the county papers, but soon realized that they are missing a lot of the major items...I now buy the Sunday paper and buy the county paper for extras!

This may or may not be accepted by stores, it's very YMMV (is that the expression? hehe). My local HT asks for our VIC card before scanning any items in our basket. Also, I tried giving them the $/$$ coupon first, and they always ask me if I have any other coupons before using it, since it is that store's policy to do those kinds of coupons last.

I don't give them my VIC Card first if I have other coupons (Competitor especially). I paper clip my coupons in the order that I wish to give my cashier, etc. That way it comes out the way I planned. You don't have to give your cashier your VIC card/phone # first unless you have coupons that are doubling/tripling, etc. Depends on your scenario.
Hope this helps--YMMV.

My HT *requires* me to present the $$ off Qs first.

Coupon refused in Herndon - I was told Bottom Dollar not considered a competitor since there is not a store in the immediate area.

There is a Bottom Dollar in Sterling, VA. Maybe they just aren't aware of it?:shrug7:
I have found that the herndon location is the least Q friendly in my experience, maybe try another HT if you are able to.

That's weird, does there have to be a store in the same town? My HT is in Gainesville, and the Bottom Dollar is in Manassas. I guess they don't think you'd be willing to drive 10 miles to save $$.

Try the Warrenton, VA Harris Teeter store if it is convenient. That is one great store! Very coupon friendly.
Also, there is a new store in South Riding/Chantilly, VA area. Check it out too.

This was the first time I've ever had a problem in Herndon but they lost a loyal customer when they refused the coupon. Shoppers & Giant both double up to $.99 so HT will only get my $$$ when there is a great deal, triples or super doubles.
The best thing about the Herndon store was the underground parking & it's only a mile from my house but now I just travel a little more & deal with the weather.
I even called corporate customer service & basically got the same response - competitor doesn't mean across town.

The impression I was given was CLOSE --
Shoppers is a mile from HT - Giant less than 2 miles
I told the lady at corporate customer service they needed to add a distance requirement for what they are determing to be a competitor.

I live in Hampton Roads and have been using Publix competitor coupons because we went on vacation a few weeks ago to Florida and I picked upa few of their fliers...and Publix isn't in this area and they are taking the coupons...so I'm not sure that it needs to be "close".

Mine was refused too. I go to the HT in ashburn (broadlands) and they have always been very coupon friendly. Never had a problem until just recently. A few weeks ago it was an issue with my WAGS RR. I spoke to a manager on the phone after the ordeal and he assured me that they would take one Wags RR per item purchased because it is a manufacturers coupon and gave me a $25 giftcard for my inconvenience. Yesterday it was an issue with the Bottom Dollar Coupon. The lady at CS said something about how it says "membership card required" and because of that, they won't honor it. So I broke out my Wags RR and because it says "On Your Next Order" she said they could only accept one of my two RRs. She called over the same manager I had spoken to on the phone and he said they would only accept one per purchase. I told him he had told me something else on the phone but he STILL refused to budge. Soooooo, that store just lost a loyal customer. I will NOT go to that particular store anymore. Too bad they are literally 2 minutes from my house. I will go to Giant from now on unless HT has doubles/triples then in that case I will head out to the one 15 minutes from my house instead.

I didn't know HT takes WAGs RRs. Do they take WAGs catalina's, too, since they are a MQ?

Go to the Ashbrook HT store in Ashburn, VA or Lansdowne HT store (for the previous poster who did not do well in Broadlands/Bramleton areas). There are alot of N VA HT stores; and the Customer Service person needs to re-read her policies.
Competitor coupons are grocery stores, retail stores, drug stores, etc. I used $/$$ coupons from Rite-Aid, CVS, K-mart stores, and other stores before. YMMV also. You can also try the Chantilly/South Riding store in Chantilly, VA area. It is great and a brand new store!
Good luck--
