So I ran to WAGs today at lunch to get some of the Air Wick air freshners for free. I had 3 of the compact i-motions on sale for $3.99 and I had 3 of the $4/1 q's. I also had 2 of the regular i-motions on sale for $3.99 and I also had 2 of the $4/1 q's. Finally, I had a rr for $2.
When I got to the checkout the guy rang up all 5 air freshners and I then realized I needed another item so my q's would equal the amount of items purchased. I grabbed a .59 sucker and added it in. I then handed him my 5 coupons and it would only allow him to use 4. I asked why and he said it was because of tax or because I would be making .01 profit. I asked him to take the 5th air freshner off. He then said that would not work but he did it anyway and he gave me my coupon back. Then I gave him my RR and he scanned it and it would not work because my total was less than $2. Ok, so I grabbed another .59 sucker and he added it and then the total was a little over $2. Again, the rr would not work.
Finally, I told him to void the 2 suckers and give me the rr back. I ended up paying $1.20 (tax).
What did I do wrong to not be able to buy 5 and use 5 q's and then not to be able to use my RR?
I'm so frustrated with WAGs!!!!

You must pay all taxes at Walgreens. In my area it would have been 1.40 in tax, no way around it. If the coupons made it come out to be 1.39 in my store-it wouldn't have worked. In my store you must cover ALL tax.

to use the $2 rr the total DUE has to be at least $2 before taxes.

Ok, I understand about the tax thing now.
Any idea why it would not let me buy 5 products and use 5 mfg. coupons?

This happened to me yesterday with the AirWick's and $4 coupons. I had 7 coupons and 7 Airwicks. Six of the coupons scanned just fine, but it beeped at the 7th one. The cashier called over a manager and they did something to make the coupon work, though I don't know what.
It sounds kinda like what happens at CVS when you have multiple items that cost less than your coupon. It takes off the full amount of your coupon for all your items except for the last one, then they have to manually adjust the last one to take out any overage. So if this were CVS then they'd have to adjust your fifth coupon down to 3.95. Maybe that's what happens in Walgreens system, only its not so easy for them to adjust the coupon amount? It seems like the system just looks at the total amount of AirWick purchased and then accepts coupons only up to that amount. So when it gets to your 5th coupon the system rejects it because you only have 3.95 left that you owe for AirWick. I'm only guessing here, but I've suspected this before so hopefully someone will know for sure.

There again, because the total of the Air Wicks was just shy of the total coupon value. If you have a store which'll do manual manufacturer entry (my won't), they might have entered the coupon amount as less so the coupon values accepted just equal the mercandise total. Otherwise, your only good option was the way you did it, void one and take back the "extra" coupon.

At my stores it's because of the .01 overage. Using the fifth coupon made the amout taken off for the airwicks more than the cost of them. My Walgreen's don't allow overage of any kind.

I was told that the Walgreens coupon system has been fixed so that there is no overage anymore-ever.

Right, but most Wags won't adjust a coupon down. If you had 5 items at 3.99/ea and 5 coupons at 4.00/ea, the register won't let you use the last coupon since you are -.01 on each item. To illustrate....
5 items @ 3.99 = $19.95
q1 -$4.00 = new total $15.95
q2 -$4.00 = new total $11.95
q3 -$4.00 = new total $7.95
q4 -$4.00 = new total $3.95
There is only $3.95 left to take off, therefore you can't use a $4 q (unless you have one of those rare Wags who will adjust a coupon down, which most won't).
The register IS set to not allow overages per product, so you purchasing suckers won't help because your item count wasn't the issue.
Hope that helps.
