View Full Version : Walgreens: How I roll my RRs

OK.....With all the great deals this month and for some reason my store being well stocked, I've been hitting wags hard and generating a lot of RRs. In the beginning, I found it hard to keep track of them all to ensure I didn't use a RR from the Halls to buy more Halls. I figured out a way that helps me a lot....rather than mixing my RRs when buying (usually starting with oldest and working in), I instead group my RRs into identical RRs and shop all the items I want except the one that produced the RR I am using.

To illustrate: I have several of each: $1 RRs from Halls, $2 RR from Dentek, $3 RR from Chapstick, $3.50 RR from Emergen-C, $6 RR from Fusion and $7RR from Vaseline. When I work out my scenarios, I take all my $3 RRs from the Chapstick and buy everything but Chapstick:

0.50 Halls ($1 less 50 cent coupon)
3.49 Emergenc
4.99 Fusion ($9 less $4 coupon)
5.49 Vaseline ($7 less 1.50 coupon)
0.60 for 6 pencil fillers @ .10 ea
==========================
$15.07 Subtotal
-15.00 (5 $3 RR from Chapstick)
==========================
.07 + tax OOP
In this case, I didn't buy the Dentek to keep my OOP to just the tax

I then repeat using the same approach but using a different group of RRs such as the $6 RRs from the Fusion Razor and buy everything but the Fusion

2.99 Chapstick
3.49 Emergenc
5.49 Vaseline ($7 less 1.50 coupon)
0.10 pencil filler
==========================
$12.07 Subtotal
-12.00 (2 $6 RR from Fusion)
==========================
.07 + tax OOP
Here I dropped the Halls and Dentek to again keep OOP to just tax

My thought is y'all already know this but for me it was a revelation....I just hate realizing I didn't get a RR because I used one on the same product again. Of course, I also need to be cognizant of the fact that sometimes the same manu has multiple RR producing deals.

Thank you!! I have such a hard time with rolling. Your concept makes it so easy! I too have been hitting the freebies hard and I have well over $100 in RR, because I was unsure how to roll them.

I wish I can be this lucky, my Wags will only let me use 2 RRs per transaction.

I like the thought. I know I was having problems thinking about what to use the Halls RRs on. I have been using now to get the Glade candles this week with a filler. The only time I have had problems was with the Halls and Trident because one prints from Halls and one prints from Cadbury but they have the same manu. I do the same thing just don't group them that way.

Thanks, John. And reps. I always find myself scrambling at checkout to organize my RRs. You've made it much easier for me!

I know what you mean...it's nearly impossible for me unless I figure my transactions out ahead of time at home to keep things straight...especially with my 2 & 4 yr old in tow. I find that specifically writing each transaction down..then putting the corresponding coupons and RR's together works for me. I then fold the coupons up in my RR and on the outside of the RR write the transaction number from my sheet on it. Then I know which coupons go with which transaction I have on my sheet. It also helps to know EXACTLY what my total should be when I get to the register. Of course...if my store is out of something needed for my transaction then it messes it all up. But my stores have been pretty well stocked and I usually go in with at least 6 transactions written out..so if something's not there for one transaction I skip it and move on to the next one. This way also helps me catch if they make any mistakes ringing stuff up. Like those lovely glade refill candles...sometimes they ring up $2.50, sometimes they're ringing up $3.79 and if the cashier doesn't put the right amount in for the coupon then my total is higher than it should be.

Sounds like a good plan. TFS

One shortcoming to grouping RRs ...

You will be at a Walgreens that is out-of-stock on more than one of the RRs.

Out-of-stock RR items happens a lot at Walgreens.

+

The Berea, OH 24 / 7 Walgreens has a sign plastered at checkout #1 that states ...

• Only 1 RR redeemed per transaction

• No rainchecks on RR items

Some other goodies that I cannot remember.

I really do not frequent this store to often because of its restrictions.
