So I went to WAGS this morning after dropping off mommy at her office, I have only been to this WAGS about four times. I go in and asked the cashier how many RR's could I use in 1 transaction, because the other times I only used 1 RR and I just never asked before, she told me you can use more than one. So as I'm walking away she tells me but if you use your RR's to pay I can't give you any RR's that come out, WTH I asked why she said they are not allowed to because since people like me who do the deals and use RR's and only pay cents oop it's like we're not paying at all for all the stuff we get(I kind of felt like she was calling me a thief) so I said If any RR's come out you wont give them to me she says no. I asked so what do you do with them keep them throw them away and all she says is yes, yes what you keep them or throw them away, another cashiers jumps in and says we don't get our money back we're actually losing money because of people paying with RR's. I just left, can they do that can they keep them or throw them away? It just doesn't make sense

No they can't do that. Someone there needs to be informed or the cashier is just making some $$.

I don't think they can do that. I did the triaminic deal this morning & used a $6RR from P&G, only paid $1.xx & cashier was more excited than I was. Honestly I think these cashiers are making up rules, I would have asked to speak with a manager. I wish a cashier would tell me that they are going to keep my RR. Some of these cashier are real sneaky.....I watched my cashier scan my gillette fusion q & slip it in her pocket, like I wasn't standing there!!!

That reasoning sounds silly to me. If the store is losing money because people use the register rewards and they don't actually want people to use them then why on earth would they give them out and be promoting them.
I think that cashier might need some additional training.

Forgot to add that before I left the first cashier told me I can call the manager so he can explain it to you but I just walked away. I have been there before and payed with RR's and have gotten RR's back.

The only way they would be losing money is if they are throwing away the RRs and not turning them in for reimbursenent
You should have shown her the wording on the RR that says they get back face value plus 8 cents

I'd put a call into the manager and write to corporate. If they're not giving out the coupons that are advertised, that's false advertisement. Further, if they're keeping your coupons (ie. stealing them, whether they keep them or toss them) that could be coupon fraud. Either way, it's unethical.
On the other hand, I would have walked away too - It's too much hassle to deal with poor customer service like that.

Ahhhh.....reading stuff like this reminds me why I don't shop at Walgreen's anymore.

Anything that prints out of the machine during a transaction is the customer's property. Not giving them to you is theft. It belongs to you since it printed with your purchase. I would definitely call corporate and if you wanted to take it further, contact your state attorney general's office. I'm sure they would LOVE to hear that one.

It comes down to one thing..jealousy and its a terrible thing with cashiers and customers saving money:whistle67:

Sounds to me like the cashier saw an opportunity to keep the RR that were going to print. I know that has happened in my city before at Wags and I'm sure it happens other places. I agree that a call to the store manager and then corporate (if the SM doesn't give you any help) is in order!

I think you are in my area, what store was this at? I want to make sure I talk to a manager before I do any future transactions there.

I am so fortunate that all of my Walgreens stores are really great. The majority of the employees are very nice and helpful and the managers are also very accomodating. If a cashier ever said that to me (about not giving me the RR that printed after I PAID for my items---whether I paid by cash, credit card, RR or man. qs) I would immed. ask for the store manager and then would start taking names. As a PP said----those items are yours and by not giving them to you they are in essence stealing them from you. Not good, not good at all. I'm sorry you had this experience.

Some male cashier once threw away my RR, I told him exsuse me why you throwing away my RR , he told me well it was just advertisment. And I told him, and who are you to throw away MY Advertisement/ RR? He got all PUFFY and told me well if you want it ,,,,, fine ! grabbed in the Trash and threw the RR in my Bag.
It was my RR for $ 8.00 so I am certain he would have fished it out after and used for himself.

:dance16: <--- The dance these cashiers must be doing after fishing peoples RR from the "trash" ....... so sad. The cashiers at my store would NEVER do something like that I am almost sure of it. They even ask me sometimes how many I am expecting so they can count to see if they all print.

Yeah, I would have told her to call him over then. If they're gonna make up or enforce rules like that, then there had better be confirmation from a higher source. Then I'd probably call Walgreen's corporate and ask them about it and find out if it's ok for individual stores to do this.

Not only that, but if that is the policy that managers are allowed to enforce, it needs to be clearly marked at the registers or in the stores so smart customers (like we couponers) can take their business elsewhere!

Wow, We just got a Walgreens and was hoping to change from CVS but now I'm a little skeptic!! Sounds like it might be a bad idea to try and learn a new way to shop!! I sure don't have the time to argue with CVS AND WALGREENS!! LOL
