Giant Eagle: Information from Answers.com (http://www.answers.com/topic/giant-eagle)

Chairman, President, and CEO:

David S. (Dave) Shapira

+

Q) Do you want favorable results from a Giant Eagle situation?
A) You go straight to the top of the food chain … the CEO, no one has more clout and no one else will do.

+

Think about it …

You write to the CEO (one page, no novels), they receive it and they then send a communication to the District Manager with an implied ‘Deal with it.’

Q) Who is gonna ignore a communication from the CEO’s office?

+

Here is how you would address your letter’s mail-to address:

GIANT EAGLE, INC
ATTN: MR. DAVID SHAPIRA, CEO
101 KAPPA DR
PITTSBURGH PA 15238

+

I find that the most effective form of communication is a snail mailed letter.

With an email or a telephone call it is very easy for them to blow you off.

A snail mailed letter creates a most excellent form of a paper trail (which cuts down on misunderstandings).

+

Your communication:

• One page - max, short-n-sweet, no novels
• Using your computer's word processor, compose, save, allow it to ferment for xx hours, then review / revise
• An introduction paragraph, a body paragraph, and a conclusion paragraph
• Proofread, proofread, proofread
• Your communication should be easy to read and neat
• Photocopies of supporting documents help immensely
• Wrap up your communication with a suggestion (solution) that is a win-win

Not all situations should go directly to the CEO. I believe the store manager should always be given the first opportunity to resolve a situation. If there is no resolve, then contact corporate customer service. If still no resolve then the CEO.

I always give the store the chance to right a wrong or clear up a misunderstanding.

Like the time I snail mailed a letter to the manager of the new Giant Eagle located in Southland Shopping Center in beautiful Middleburg Heights, OH.

It was regarding the dire need for speed bumps.

A letter addressed to the CEO of a company is the way to go when the store drops the football (uncaring or unresponsive).
