View Full Version : HyVee ~ Question policy on overages?

This morning I went to buy some toothpaste--it turns out the coupon was for a different variety so it wasn't usable on the deal I wanted, but the cashier told me that I couldn't have used it anyway because it was worth more than the item cost. I told her that most stores just adjust the coupon price to reflect the price of the item. She was a bit of a crank about it and told me that that's how it is so I dropped it but what have your experiences been with this at HyVee?

Thanks!

My HyVee in Muscatine has always given overage. I have no idea what the policy is however.

Thanks--I'm guessing I just need to pull a manager over and they'll change it. But if there's some sort of corporate policy in place I don't know--I'll email them later and see what I can find out. Thanks for letting me know about your experience!

My Hyvee won't give overage, but they will adjust down. I had (23) $1.00 coupons for a beverage that was 99 cents, and I asked the manager if it was ok to use them, and he said they would just adjust down. Of course the register beeped and the cashier acted like he couldnt take them, so I was glad I got approval first with so many free bottles.

That's great to know and that makes the most sense. As long as they'll take the coupon I'm fine with doing it that way. Whenever I've had an issue at a register at a HyVee it's never been hard to get a manager to help so I'll try asking one if I have trouble. Thanks for the info!

I found a copy of the Hy-Vee coupon policy

Hy-Vee - Announcements - Hy-Vee Coupon Policy (http://www.hy-vee.com/company/press-room/announcements/hy-vee-coupon-policy.aspx)

Hope this helps

Well according to the policy they do not accept overage coupons. I don't think I've ever had that situation come up but good to know. O well Walmart does so that's where all my overage qs end up going anyway.

Hi, thanks for the info about Walmart. I'll take them there if I run into that again. I did receive a reply from someone at HyVee but it was sort of vague and he was talking mostly about internet coupon fraud--not the issue at all. I explained again so I'll see what he says. I'm guessing it's probably a no go all the time since the policy does say no.

Like you said, the issue doesn't really come up that often. I have had it happen a few times at Walgreens. They also will price adjust to make it work.

That is were mine ends up. Just take you ad for a PM and then use the overage coupon. Sometimes I just love Walmart but then again it depends on the cashier if they give you the overage or not.
