I realize that it has been dicey lately with confirmation of Super Doubles and then no Super Doubles, but I am trying to do some long term planning and wondered when the next coupon event might be. Anyone have any idea? Sure appreciate any info you can share.
Thanks,
Linda :BigHand:

Per Aidensmommy on AFC, she has this week's ad and there is no SD or triples this week. So it won't be this week.
Unfortunately, it seems HT has done a very good job of proving all 'advance' info we thought we had to be wrong. I don't think it's possible under the current circumstances to guess when they might do it again.

It would be nice to know when the superdoubles/triples were going to happen. I agree it would make it easier for planning. I might not stock as much for the unknown in-between times.
Lately one HT store I go to seems to be too stressed with over the sales. Some of the part time (teenage) staff are a derogatory about coupons, being real protective, going out of their way to search for any deviations. I guess it is there attitude, it makes one feel like we are being scrutinized every time coupons are shown. One young part timer said that management said they are losing money on the triples/superdoubles. He made me feel like I was stealing from the store! I hope new management is not influencing them the wrong way in taking care of their customers.
On the other hand the staff and checkers that are long timers (usually older) (buying their own grocery's and paying their own bills) are helpful. They go by the rules which we expect but their attitude is one of helpful, cheerful, actually glad that you found a great buy. They make one feel welcomed and say hello to the regulars. This goes a long ways in what store gets my non coupon money.

I did see her post there. I found it interesting that in her opinion the ad was missing 2 pages. Also noticed a lot of HT brand items on sale which normally happens on a coupon event.

This is really interesting because at my HT I find the young guys (early 20's) the most coupon friendly and make the most comments about how much I saved, how much I got, the coupon binder organization, etc. There are 2 I try to beeline for. The older cashiers seem annoyed with me that I get better deals than they do. But overall the CS at my store is really good but they never give any hints about anything coming up.

I really hope for a super doubles sometime before the end of October. I have some Qs for $1 off ONE bag of candy (most candy Qs require more than one bag purchased) that would be great to double. My HT is near a Kroger, and the Kroger matches HT (Kroger is often a better deal). I have come across SO many coupons and catalinas lately for $1 or $1.50, and I think "remember that for super doubles".

I was told this week by our manager friend that they will be cycling in the weeks upto christmas, probably every 2 weeks however for now they are keeping hush on when next one will be.
Apparently too many people are planning for it, and then taking advantage (e.g using too many coupons per day) so the stores are taking a little break.
The wilson, nc store which is my local is always full of us couponers, and the manager said they are getting calls every day from people asking when next one will be. They don't want people to be able to plan for it so they are trying to mix it up he said.

Wouldn't it be hilarious (not sure it that is the right word) if we woke up tomorrow and it was SD or Triples! I would really have to hand it to HT for successfully keeping the lid on it.
.....My guess is Oct. 28 - Nov. 3 though.

I think you are right on the dates. I'm getting ready hoping for some different stuff on sale. I don't need any more biscuits, brownie mix, chex mix, fruit snacks or pizza rolls! :giggle2:Still cleaning it out from last triples.

clippyclippy, I had the exact same thought this morning---wouldn't it be ironic if I got up tomorrow morning and checked my eVic email ad and lo and behold!!! Super Doubles!

They have the %10 wine discount this weekend. Doesn't that usually fall at the same time as triples? I am thinking maybe they are going to surprise us and do triples this weekend...maybe just wishful thinking. They also have lots of HT brand stuff on sale...another thing they do during triples. hmmm...the sure do have us all guessing!

I'm fairly new to couponing and have been so disappointed in my HT. I've had cashiers (2) steal from me (cpns), tell me mine were no good (only to set them aside for themselves?) and just be downright rude and not at all helpfull. One even came off the register to come down an isle to ask me if I had any rice coupons. Stupid me...I gave them to her thinking it would build relationship that would come in handy. I guess she saw me coming. There is a FL across the street and a Krogers within a mile...both do more business except on trips or SD. I'd rather pay a little more and be treated well...I never have a problem at Krogers. I hope Harris Teeter in Durham NC wakes up and smells the couponers and values them.

lallyy, I'm just curious, which one? I go to the new one of Guess Rd. I had a cashier try to keep my ONYO cat at the Kroger off Guess earlier this week. My total was $8.xx and the cat was $4 ONYO. He looked back and forth at my total and the cat and then handed me the other two coupons that printed and tried to hide the ONYO!! I had never had that happen before. I like the Kroger on N. Roxboro, but I won't shop at the one on Hillsborough Rd anymore because they won't take IPs.
Sorry to get OT... my Qs are still such a mess... I really need to clip and file. I have no idea when the next big event is but I do hope we have one this month!

If the cashiers are not working according to the coupons policy or try to "steal" from customers, please bring the matter to the manager's attention. Not only that it will help you but other shoppers too. :)
Cheers...

I'd also be curious to know which Durham HT you're having problems with.
I regularly go to the new Hope Valley location, and the old 54/F'ville location, and I've never had any problem unless the coupon simply wouldn't scan (which usually means I set something wrong during the printing process). I usually have a mix of IPs and normal coupons. I never get challenged or overridden. If a coupon refuses to scan, they hand it back to me.
For what it's worth, I've also had no problems at the SuperTarget by southpoint, the krogers around here, or superwalmart. I've found most cashiers in this general southpoint/rtp area really don't even look twice.
Then again I am not as good at couponing as some, so I do not have huge stacks of them or <$10 total grocery bills. Maybe the stores do some kind of 'profiling'.

Bummer about the north Durham HTs. I'm in southwest Durham, very close to the HT on MLK, but I'll go up Garrett to the one on 54 or the one in Hope Valley sometimes if mine is OOS of something (so nice that all 3 are within a few miles!). The cashiers at all 3 of those are generally VERY nice and even applaud my couponing (and yes, I'm one who usually has a stack of Qs and very low OOP totals.) Morning shift of workers always treat me well!

Seems like they do wait until the end of the month for these. Maybe it is just me, but it seems to fall that way quite a bit.

At my HT they are raising prices big time so the next super doubles will not work out as well for me unless they have sales on the things I buy.

To be honest, it's getting harder and harder for me to justify shopping at HT at all even with the coupon specials they've been jerking us around on. I've said for a while the big issue for me is that they have the best meat, but they're not giving me much reason to buy anything else there. I can learn to live without steak if it comes down to it.
I'm repeating myself at this point, I guess. I'll try to stop. It would help if they built a Lowes or something near Southpoint, or if Publix would finally capitalize on the expanding NC market. :)

Oh, man, if only a Publix would come to the Triangle somewhere. That would be AWESOME. I do think that HT is starting to feel like they have no competition---they did all of these triples and Super Doubles and now they are going to sit and figure that the new customers they pulled in during these events will continue to come and pay HT's quickly becoming exhorbitant prices. Competition is good!!

I have never had a problem at the North Durham HT. Everything seems to go smoothly and the cashiers are friendly and complimentary of the great deals. I be sure to always have my stuff in order and hand them my coupons in the right order. It also helps to mix up the like coupons as not to risk having them "missed". My only complaint is the slack stocking. If you miss out the 1st day or 2 then you can probably bet the good deals are limited. :BigHand:

Sorry it took so long to answer you guys...the location I was referring to in Durham was on Guess Rd. at Horton. I went back there yesterday, did my own checkout and had a young man do my coupons. Low and behold all went well...no glitches...and I saved $60 with the coupons I had. Only spent $89 oop. So, I may stick it out with them until I have another problem. It's so convenient...I only live 1/2 mile down the road. You are right, the prices there are getting out of hand and normally without coupons I would never shop there. It just happened that they had awesome meat deals this week and some good manager's specials. I won't go again for awhile until SD or triples. I can't afford the regular stuff. I do better at K's even though they only double to $.50, their regular prices are better and they have more specials weekly. Maybe HT will see that SD and triples doesn't guarantee customers the rest of the time.

Someone once told me that they read an article that showed HT raised their prices 20% during triple coupons. I'm not sure of the validity, but I will only purchase items I can get for FREE or under $1 during Triples to avoid their price gauging.

I wouldn't be suprised if they did raise their prices on everything else during sales, it's a good (though sneaky) marketing technique; which is why I only buy the free or oober cheap items (that I need!) during triples and SDs. Kroger has better every day prices, and Food Lion just plain scares me :scared3:: During my first and last time trying that store - there were security guards at the door... not very inviting. PLus it was a hot mess in there!
