Sorry, I just need to vent a little. Went into my usual HT tonight to pick up some success rice before my q expires tomorrow. Here is my transaction: 6 x success rice, 1 bag ruffles, and 1 dean's french onion dip. I had 6 x $1 q for the rice and I also had a $5 RR from wags. I wasn't intending on picking up the chips and dip but thought since I was getting the rice dirt cheap I could indulge. I give my q's to the cashier who scrutinizes each one and then instead of her calling the mgr. she tries to be secretive and motion her over concerning my RR from wags. So back and forth whispering goes on and she finally scans it. Mind you it starts with a "5" and doesn't require a mgr override or anything. Of course it had to be my least fav. cashier and CSM working tonight. But they still proceeded to whisper (not so quietly) while I was paying. Most of us here at HCW have had it happen once. I know there are bad couponers that give us good ones a bad rep.

I mean seriously, I still payed $5 oop and I didn't have to pick up the additional items. They were acting like I was trying to rob them blind. It's not my first time using a RR from wags, plus I have an e-mail from corp. last month b/c I wanted to double check that HT accept RR. I have that e-mail saved if anyone wants it posted. Corp. says as long as the wags is in close range to the HT (mine is in the same plaza). Okay rant over, I can step down now. :soapbox:

I don't get why cashiers and managers do this, they should be happy that they get our business when we could be shopping somewhere else, and that our business keeps them employed!

I'm sorry this happened to you . I wasn't aware that HT took Wags RR. I have like 5 (for a total of about $25) that are expiring tomorrow - can I use all 5 in one transaction or is it only 1 RR per transaction? My Wags is in the same plaza as my HT too.

Yes, mine do. They took 3 in one transaction the other day. I did ask first, and the cashier said, "Sure - we get reimbursed for those".
No telling if that is true or not. I've heard that they do get reimbursed, but then again, I've heard they don't.
If they do get reimbursed, then why does there have to be a WG nearby? The mfrs are unlikely to care. I doubt they selectively reimburse based on whether WG is a competitor to that particular HT.
I tend to think HT taking the hit.
On that day I bought 3 gallons of milk. I could have easily bought it at WG instead, so it worked in that case. They got my business.

One of my local HT claims that they cannot take Wag's RR since they don't get reimbursed for them. My RRs were already scanned b4 the cashier called the manager over so they took it "this one time". I did not make a big deal of it since it went through. The closest HT is RR friendly as long as I limit it to 1 or 2 per transaction.

Here is a copy of the e-mail sent to me by corporate. I did forward a copy to those who asked. I had also asked them about competitor's coupons.

Thank you for your email. Our coupon policy should be posted in each Harris Teeter location. These posters outline our guidelines on coupon acceptance, rainchecks and scan guarantee.

We accept local competitor's circular or direct-mail coupons for money off the total order; we do not take competitor's coupons for money off specific items. Also, we do not accept any internet coupons from other retailers. Therefore, we would not accept your Food Lion coupon for $5 off a $20 meat purchase since this is a specific-item coupon. However, we will take Walgreen's coupons for $ off your total order, as long as the store manager agrees that the Walgreen's store is local to your Harris Teeter. The customer service desk at your local store will be able to answer questions about our coupon policy, as well. Please note that Harris Teeter reserves the right to limit quantities in coupon usage, as well as products and to amend our policies as we deem appropriate.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Thank you for shopping at Harris Teeter.

Sincerely,

Aimee

Hi can you please forward this to me as well:
valerie160 @ hotmail.com

I had a major issue with using my Wags register rewards with the cashier and CS manager and i just called the manager to complain and he sided with me (YAY!). But i wanted to make sure that next time I was there and I used my RRs that i had the email as a back up for the cashier. According to my manager, RRs are just like any other manu coupon you can use as many as you have items but YMMV. It doesn't hurt to call your manager and ask.

Please e-mail to me also msidjit9@aol.com

My HT has it posted they will not take any coupons from CVS, Riteaid, or Walgreens. They will only take grocery stores. They get pickier and pickier.

Sorry you were treated that way  I've only had problems using RRs at my favorite store when one certain manager is on duty. I think there is some confusion over whether they are reimbursed for them or not. My understanding is that they are reimbursed because it's a manufacturer's coupon that has the manufacturer's ADDRESS to mail the coupon in for reimbursement, and I think it's coded just like an other man. q. Other store coupons that I've seen do not have any mailing addresses on them because the reimbursement from manufacturers is all done internally with the computer system. Anyways, point being the wording on the coupon with "manufacturer coupon" on the top left and the part that says, "Retailer" and gives the address for reimbursement makes me think HT gets reimbursed.

Personally, I think my HT taking RRs is a win-win for everyone. Of course it's great for me but I wouldn't buy nearly as much from Wags if I had to follow their silly rules to redeem my RRs and I shop at HT more frequently (and spend most of my grocery money there) because I know they take my RRs.
