So im out driving around tonight in search of places that will have cheap snuggle
and low and behold i find a walgreens (about 20min from my house)
so i stop to see if i can find some of that super DH lip zipper cream (also known as super polident) and i saw they had pretty much every free after rr in stock. PERFECT!
so i grabbed 1 of everything, and get up to the counter and seen this:
Needless to say i called for a manager, asked when this went into affect and he told me this is the rules and i need to abide by them.
I snapped the picture and told him that i would be in contact with Corp. He asked if that was a threat, i said oh no sir, i don't make threats. This is a promise:wink7:

I saw this last Friday. I bought 3 theraflu, with coupons, of course, and no RR printed! The manager gave me a gift card, but didn't like it. He tried explaining it to me, but I wasn't interested in listening! It didn't help that I was in a hurry and had a 2 year old with me!

I've been told the same thing. I just respond....we'll chance it and see. He can't control what the Catalina machine prints....it's programmed by corp. Needless to say, it prints the RRs.
Are you saying he confiscated your RRs?

Oh NO! If this happens at my store they will lose my business for sure. I just came from my Wags and thankfuly didn't have any problems. I love it when everything goes smoothly!

Wow, that's totally unbelievable that a store would even post something like that.
Can't use coupons or RR's , he's got to be crazy expecting anyone to abide by those rules !!!

No sign like that at my store - I guess the store is fully stocked with everything because no one is shopping there with those rules in place!!!

I wonder how long it will be before that store goes belly up. Too much stock doesn't pay for managers too well. LOL

Nope, I haven't seen anything like that at my stores. And it's been working just fine for me all this week.

I wonder where the cashier/managers will hide their heads the week of 10/25 with the Dulcolax Balance RR deal. When the ad clearly says: FREE After RR and Coupon on Pack. :rolleyes24:

Ridiculous. I had heard on a blog that some WAGS were doing this now...just depended on the store; the blog author said that it was not a Wags corporate thing...varied store by store.
I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that most of us will not be shopping at Walgreens if this becomes the rule across the board. If we can't use coupons there will be VERY few deals to be worth getting dressed for. Seriously, I don't know where some of these manager's brains are at when they do stuff like this.
Glad you got a picture too! Keep us posted on what you hear from corporate and if there is any resolve with your store. (Hopefully you have another nearby you can go to. I wouldn't want to go back there...)

There has also been several times where the ad showed examples of using a coupon for savings and then getting the RR as well. I have a couple I kept. One is a half page ad showing Zantac on sale for $4.99 use a coupon from that Sunday's paper for $1 off the get a RR for $3.99 making the Zantac free. They can not say you can use a coupon one time and then not the next. The FTC I am sure would find this all very interesting as it would be very confusing for the average consumer. One week the ad says you can use manufactures coupons right in the ad and the next week you can't because the ad does not say you can? If I see this posted in my area you can bet I will be taking pictures and making copies of the ads saying just you can use coupons, to send of in a complaint to the Federal Trade Commission. They can not change the rules in such a way from week to week because it makes it impossible for the least informed consumer to be able to understand.

I'm beginning to lose interest shopping at WAGS. It's amazing how different rules varies from one store to the next store when it comes to coupons and using RR's. One store told me I can only use on RR per transaction and had to come back tomorrow to use another RR. Of course I went to another WAGS and didn't give me a hard time using multiple RR's with my purchase.

I haven't seen that around here. Sounds like that SM is clueless about coupons. It's really sad for that store. No wonder they have shelves full of the RR products. Sheesh!

I haven't heard the 'use coupons, no RR' spiel yet, BUT...
The other day I tried to purchase two of the nestle candy thats on sale 2/$4, had two $1/one bag MQs, and was told by the manager they will no longer accept two identical coupons... even if I'm buying two of the items.
I had a pretty big order, and this new policy threw a wrench into a few more deals as well. Playtex.... soups... witch hazel....
I went outside and called corporate (leaving my whole $65 order on the counter unpurchased) and was told I would be contacted within two business days. Needless to say, I never heard back from anyone. I wonder how the manufacturers will feel about this new policy?
Pretty sure I'm going back to CVS... I've been patient with wag's crazy new policies every other day... but this one might be the last straw for me.

Those are policies made by the store manager. It's not across the board at Walgreens. It's a shame that these SMs don't bother to learn about how to properly use coupons. It will cost their store in the long run since their prices are higher than alot of other stores. Stopping coupon use at their store will definitely put a damper on their sales figures. Makes no sense to me, but it's their choice.

Exactly-even though the customer maybe getting a good deal Wags gets their money from the MQ anyway..
I would think in this economy they could not afford to lose customers.

I think this all boils down to the managers not being educated on coupons. They get reimbursed full face value. Coupons are money. They do not see it that way.
The store manager of the store I shop at is very coupon savvy and loves to see what kind of deals I am getting. I will never see a sign like that at my store b/c he's to smart and coupon knowledgeable to do something that stupid. And this store does great business.

Here's what I really don't get . . . around here (Orlando), there's a CVS within a block or 2 of almost every WAGS. How does WAGS hope to compete with CVS when CVS has no problem taking Qs combined with ECBs on products that earn more ECBs? I just don't understand why there's such a world of difference between the 2 systems. Just my 2 cents.

Don't worry...this will not be true at all stores. We're just in quirk-mode at a few places. Someone got a memo & spilt jelly on a very important word.
I think this is what happened at my store: They once got a memo about RR's being manufacturer coupons & therefore only one may be used per purchase & they cannot be re-used on the item producing an RR, so in all of that some managers limited one ManQ for the entire transaction cause to them purchases & transactions are the same. So, maybe they think NO RR's/ManQ's can be used & still get an RR, since the RR is a ManQ? I think the DM's & SM's just need to be enlightened a little. :wink7:

if you watch for specials at Target and use their coupons plus man. q's sometimes you get the same promotion as Walgreens RR's but you get it in one transaction instead of having to go back and use the RR on something else at Walgreens.

Last week, I went into one of the WG's around me. The cashier tried to say that my RR didn't print because I used a cpn to buy it (Halls Refresher).I disagreed with her and told her to get the manager. I had a second order again only the Halls, I told her to ring it without my cpn to prove a point-again no RR. The third order had my razor-with a coupon-again no RR. The manager came over and she told him there was a issue with the second order, but not the third or first. She said smartly that it was like that(no RR for using a cpn) all day. The manger re-rung me at a different register and lo and behold the RR's come without a problem.
I know the catalina machine had paper in it from the original checkout so what was going on? Somehow manipulating the machine so it doesn't print? Disconnecting the machine? She was too smug about the whole thing.

Same thing happened at a WG that I was shopping at. I use coupon and the RR didn't print. I asked for the manager. She rang me up on the other register and the RR came out. She did say that WG has changed their policy about using RR and coupons. I just hate going in their stores now. Something is always changing when you go in there to shop.

I have never anyone ever tell me that at either Wags I go to. In fact, just today one clerk noticed my coupons and asked about my binder and another clerk asked why she didn't get the Cats and RRs that I did.

My Walgreens never has accepted two identical coupons, AND they won't let you do back to back transactions with identical coupons either. Its ridiculous.

This same thing happened to me yesterday when I purchased the Fusion Razor and Halls cough drops using mfc. coupons and a RR's. Isn't there a number to call for the catalina company if your RR doesn't print? Can anyone give it to me?

I don't know if there are other Walgreens around you, but if there are (and if they are friendly to couponers), you might try contacting the District Mgr, asking him / her to look at the sales trends of the various stores -- and then enlighten the DM about which stores are friendly towards those who use coupons and which aren't. You might also tell the DM about the sign, he / she might not have a clue that it's there. However, they may be just as clueless about coupons as that SM is, and not have a problem with it. Sheesh. Sorry about all the problems you're having with your Walgreens, thankfully we're not all like that. Hopefully you can find one close by that is MUCH more friendly towards you, I'd hate to see you lose out on some great deals just because of an idjit. :(

I saw a sign very similar to that at the store in Snellville across from Ronald Regan parkway's entrance. It was posted on the flyer stand and at all the registers too. This was about 4 weeks ago and I just walked out and went to a different WAGS.
