So I tried this at my new local non coupon friendly wags

FREE PLAYTEX GLOVES, .01 MM
TOTAL: -.01
SALE : .99
MQ: $1/1 (5/3 SS, 6/28 SS)
AD Q: .99
RR: NONE
MATH: .99 in store - 1/1 MQ=.01 MM

I had 3 packages of gloves, the store coupon and 3 manufactures coupons. I was told by the clerk and then by the manager that i could not do it because it was too much. I explained that most stores just adjust the last coupon down to make up the difference. They told me they can not do this.

Am i doing something wrong?

You just unfortunately ran into the negative side of the YMMV - some WG stores will not accept coupons that are greater than the price of the product.
You could give corporate a try, because the official policy is to adjust coupons down, but the manager does have the final say from what I understand.
Sorry you ran into that - you did nothing wrong by the way.

Hammer....I can give you a suggestion. I work for WG and although it is a coupon friendly store we do not accet a q for greater the the value of the item purchased. What about if you bought 4 bags ( don't know how many pairs in a bag )? $3.96-3.00 MQ's would equal about .25 per bag. Still an excellent price !!!! HTH's !!! P.S. When you do it tthat way your q's shpouldn't beep.

Did you give your manufacture coupons FIRST and then the store coupon? If you didn't then it probably beeped and that is why you had problems. We've all had it happen to us, so don't worry about it. Or as the other poster said just get 1 extra pack and it should go through fine too.

I think she is correct, too. I know there are some stores/cashiers/managers that won't allow to scan Man Q first, or won't even accept both IVC/WAG Q and Man Q. Or, sometimes cashiers are being so "good" that before I get to hand my MQ in, she/he would scan the IVC/WAG Q, lol.

Due to 1 cent overage on the MQ, it beeped. If you handed MQ first, then WAG Q (from the ad), it would've given you 1 cent overage. I just did it today ($2.29 - $1MQ - $1.30 = 1 cent overage), and it worked just fine.

So, if your store/cashier lets you scan MQ first, then WAG Q (or IVC), I'd do it that way

Yep, watawata is correct. I did this deal on Sunday. I handed the cashier my MF Q & RRs...and then "oh by the way I have this (wags) Q for the gloves". No beeps. Try "forgetting" your Wags Q until the end. ;)

I did give the store q first. I did not know there was an order. Thank you all for your help.

nanshaw2001- I only had 3 coupons because the store coupon listed the limit as 3

LOL, yes I try "forgetting" the wag Q or IVC until the end, too! But very once in a while I did actually forget (especially when I have my kids), then I end up banging my head later!

I had a young girl ring up the mfg q b4 I could even get the things out of the buggy... Also I would try buying a few other things when doing that deal so that it doesn't look so obvious that you're getting them FREE. For some reason cashiers look at me weird when I don't have to give them anything other than tax. BUT if I pay with the RR they are cool with it. Just my 2 cents and in this economy its really only worth 1/5 of a cent.. lol

I did this deal yesterday--she scanned the Wags coupon first, and my mfg q's didn't beep. I think it just depends on the store and whether they'll even try.

I thought walgreen's would not take more coupons than items? 3 MQ's + 1 AdQ=4 for 3 pkgs of gloves?

Wags ad coupons and IVCs (the monthly booklet coupons) do not count in your coupon count. That's why a lot of the cheap ad q items make great fillers. And to the pps who said adjust the coupon down, I believe there have been a few threads about this. From what I understand it is fraud to adjust the value of the coupon, but it IS acceptable for them to adjust the price of the ITEM up to fit the value of the coupon, if your store will do that for you. Also coupon order is YMMV. My store will void your transaction and start over if you "forget" the Wags qs first. Basically OP, every Wags is YMMV and hopefully you get lucky :wink7: And IA with what a pp said, throw in something cheap so it doesn't look like you're getting stuff free, it helps.

Wags corp has changed the official answer on this now. They now say it is coupon fraud for them to lower the value of the coupon. I am actually surprised we are still allowed to talk about it here. Other things along these lines, that are ymmv, are not allowed to be discussed at this board:shrug7:

Did you'll find the one in the ad? I went this morning for the first time this week and I only saw the Handsaver gloves with 1 pair in each package. The ones on sale is the Handsaver gloves with 10 pairs in a package. I also saw disposable gloves with 10 pairs in a pack but this isn't the right one. I'll have to try another store.

I thought this same thing, but a clerk walking by me noticed my perplexed frown, and told me the coupon is for EITHER package - the hand saver gloves (which is a one pack) or the 10 count Disposables.

Oh! The handsavers seem much better (thicker) than the disposables and would prefer the former over the latter and I have so many of those coupons. Thanks! I too would have had a perplexed frown at the next store.

some people have reported in the past to buy another pkg, then have it voided after q's are scanned ~ i've never tried this myself tho

Yes This works the best!
If you want to buy 5 and the 5th Q beeps just say ok take one off get your coupon and it will be fine. I have to do this often when the Q exceeds the value. Also I noticed that with the gloves it didn't matter the order when I did the wags coupon last it shorted one for whatever reason. I bough 9 and it took of 8a it said. SO that was a problem.

Best way, have em void one off when the last Q beeps possible overage this way too.
