At my last trip to Wags I got a shock. The very nice clerk informed me that I could not use an rr to purchase an item that would generate an rr. She said the computers are set up that way. I said "really? I do it all the time! and it works as long as it's another manufacturer." She said it's not supposed to work that way, and she as a clerk will get in trouble if she does it and it works. I didn't push the issue.
I just got off the phone with customer relations. She informed me that the clerk is correct! No rr's should print if you are using rr's to pay. Then she told me that no rr's will print if I use a mq! HUH!? I told her I do it all the time! Then she said that I cannot combine a mq and rr to pay for anything! And she said I can only use 1 rr per transaction. I said you mean per item? She said No, per transaction. I asked if the was store policy or Walgreens, She said Walgreens policies -that haven't changed recently. So basically everything I've been doing is against policy!:shrug7:She was very nice, butI do believe I am about done with Walgreens. Too many rules. I love CVS. I may miss a good deal at wags, but I will reduce my stress.

I had an employee try to tell me this recently. However, she was really nice about it and said we can try it. So I said let's do it. Low and behold, the RR printed. I sure hope they don't try to implement this new policy because if/when they do, there is NO way that Wags can compete with cvs ecb program.

Sorry you feel stressed stylerkh! Good luck with whatever you decide!!!

The cashiers at my store lately have become very RR friendly.

They will let me know now if by mistake I try to use one from the same promotion and ask if I want to use another one so i can get the RR (because a new one wont print) and now even ask me if I want to ring anything up in separate transactions. Its a nice change and I have been shopping there more and more when the sales are good.

I think its just confusion about how the system works and it sounds like CS is confused too.

To the OP, the next time you shop just add a pack of gum. You could just say "Thank you for the information but my RR is not paying for the new RR item. It is paying for the gum" and then look REALLY shocked :excited12:when your new one prints!

Yeah everytime that me and my sis forget to put enough 'fillers' in then this happens to us too. And they say that they aren't printing because we are paying with RR but its not true. And you just have to ask them to ring it up again and throw the fillers in :-) Walgreens is extremely confusing and not very coupon friendly here too. But some of the cashiers are starting to enjoy talking to me and my sis when we come through now and that makes it a lot easier cause they aren't out to get you because you are using coupons lol.

Glad to hear that things are looking better for y'all, lol :) I'm the one who 'educates' most of the cashiers where I work on how the RR / MFQ deals work ... I even told my Manager that I was 'breaking in' a new cashier the other day while doing multiple transactions, lol ;) Seriously, though, I don't have a problem teaching cashiers (even Mgrs) how the program works. You just have to be kind and considerate, and not try to make them feel like they are ignorant just because they DON'T know how things work. There is no Walgreens policy book / training manual for the RR / MFQ issue, so a lot of them simply have no clue. When something doesn't work, they assume that it's one thing (like not being able to use RRs on a RR item) when that may not be it at all. The best way to handle it (I've found) is to do like another poster stated, just ask if you can try it your way to see if it works, and go from there. Sometimes the issue with coupons has nothing to do with Walgreens or their policies -- it is simply the attitude a cashier has towards coupons / those who use them. I've run into this in my own store -- I just don't go to those particular cashiers unless I HAVE to. I've also made mention of them to my Mgr, telling my Mgr exactly what I was doing, and what was said / done by the cashier. Just because I am an employee doesn't mean that I'm not also a customer when I'm off shift ... and if they are treating me like that, then they are also treating other customers like that -- which is NOT right. I've even had to explain to mgrs b4 at my store that the store is NOT 'losing' money when ppl use MFQs / RRs -- most of them realize it as soon as I start explaining why, others have to think about it for a bit (human nature, the mgr is basically wanting to watch out for the store's best interest -- job security, lol). I really wish they would teach Business Majors the economics side of coupons for stores ... it sure would make things easier!! ;)

i had a cashier tell me this last week about using a manu coupon and not getting the rr...she was very rude about it...i told her that was fine if i didnt get the rr but it was still a good deal....she said "yeah the manufacturers are really cracking down on this"...oh okay....the rr printed out and she was like "oh it printed"....i said thanks and left...

most of them dont know because the manager tells them what they think is right...(my cashiers problem)...sometimes you just have to be nice and go with the program and other times i would question them..like in your case i would of questioned it...and if the manager on duty stood by it i would of left with my coupons and no purchase...

I think what bothered me more than anything was the call to customer service. Either she was incorrect in her knowledge (she seemed very sure of herself) or the computers don't know the rules! lol! I think I'll just take a lil break from there for now,,,,till the next deal,,,,that I can't pass up,,,,,,,:whistle67:

Nope, as your RR will not print. You cannot buy an item with RR from the same item. Example: you bought chapstick, got $3 RR, turned around and bought another chapstick and paid with the RR from the first one. Your RR will not print for the second one.
