I've had this happen on 3 occasions...yesterday and 2 weeks ago on 2 other days for different products.

The Betty Crocker frosting caused the self-checkout to freeze when I purchased 2 (on sale this week for $1.49) using 2 mfg 50 cent coupons (which double at my Meijer) and the mealbox $1/2 = $3 off a purchase of $2.98. I had also purchased a banana for 15 cents which I did to hopefully take care of the 2 cent overage, but that didn't work.

Also, the notations that had been printing under the product on the receipt, which many here thought were to stop the payment of overages, didn't print. So, I'm wondering if that is still happening?

All of this didn't happen at a "regular" checkout, but I did then have to deal with a cashier that told me they no longer take mealbox coups! LOL

This has happened to me on 4 separate occassions. The uscans don't like mealbox q's when the item will be free.

Yesterday I managed to freeze up all of the unlimited uscans with one order. The cashier kept switching me to another one after one froze. We went through all four before she took me and my stuff over to a regular checkout. The machines are fine until you get to the mealbox q's. I was surprised though that she wasn't getting mad. We were actually laughing about it. For some reason my other coupons all rang in with the same barcode even though they were different. It wasn't just the different Betty Crocker ones, even my Dole and other different brand ones. It was quite weird. The cashier was great though. I had three seperate orders and she did them all together and since the coupons were coming up weird anyway she just rang them in as vender so all of them doubled. So much easier. I am not going to use the u-scans anymore and just do one or two transactions at a time through a regular checkout. The u-scans seem to take 10x as long now.

When I have multiple coupons or a complicated order, I try to go to a line with a cashier. If I must use the U SCAN, I use one near the cashier desk so he/she can help with the coupons. Always count how many coupons you have in case an error is made.

I don't think I have ever made it through the uscan without having to have a cashier come over and input coupons. After all the hassle it is always slower going through uscan than waiting in a regular line behind 3 or 4 people.
