I still had numerous issues with my GE stopping my coupons from doubling. Now here is where I wanted to get it clarified in easy-to-understand terms for myself and the cashiers that either they should be doubled or not. The cashiers should know whether they will get into trouble or not and I want it in writing with no bones about it. I emailed the director of Customer Service a couple of times over the month, first to find out if "double coupons" really meant for all coupons and what would not double. Here's the last email I got today and it was the clearest and shows that Ms. Carcia knows about basic coupon coding.

My email to her-
I just want to make sure. If my coupon says on it "Do not double" and it's value is under $.99, will it be stopped from doubling by the cashier hitting a button on the register?

Her response-

Coupons Cashier Lane SCO
Starts with 9 9 Cashier does not double SCO does not double Starts with 0 5 (if it has "Do Not Double")
Cashier does not double (override required) SCO does double

These are the parameters for the "Do not double" coupons. The ones that begin w/ 9 9 will not be doubled.
If the coupon starts w/ 0 5 the cashier should not manually over ride it and it will be doubled. (coupons under .99)

Anna Marye Carcia

I also have her cell phone and direct phone line so if there's an issue, it can be resolved. I can take the young cashiers that just follow the rules and listen to reason. It's the older lifetime cashiers that seem to think it's coming out of their paychecks.

Thanks for the info! I have one "lifetime" cashier at my store who loves to override coupon doubling. I usually avoid his line but now I have this info in my arsenal. :wink7:

Just this week I had a cashier not double the Tic-Tac Chill 75¢ off coupons.

She did the manual override gyration for each of my ten coupons.

Long story short, I told her I did not want them, that I would take them to another Giant Eagle, where they would be doubled.

Terry Terrific and others,
the reason I posted this is so everyone can take advantage of my emails w/ Ms. Carcia. Her cellphone is posted under the other message about Do not double coupons. In other email to me, she said all front end managers have the memo sent to them twice, and if there are continued issues to let her know. I would always clarify this with my store if they create an issue and then go to her.
I'm tired of knowing more about coupons and sales stuff than the people who work there-managers, cashiers and the like. My father taught me well. He would argue loudly if stores didn't follow their own rules and sales. He knew about rainchecks and the like, and reported the local Kroger store when they refused to issue a raincheck when they had a sale/he went as soon as they opened the first day of the sale/they said they sold out already and refused to give him a raincheck. This was back in the 70's. He reported them to the BBB and he got the raincheck plus something I don't remember what. We would get embarrassed by his yelling. Now I just whip out my cellphone and explain calmly.

I've been talking with Ms. Carcia also. She is very nice & very knowledgable. But she does have her limitations too. The rules on doubling only apply to corporate-owned stores, not privately-owned ones. The GE in Salem, OH is unfortunately privately-owned.

Does anyone know if there is a list somewhere that shows which stores are corporate? Or maybe we can start a list?

I know the one in Poland and the one in Liberty are not corporate. The Doral Drive, Boardman-Canfield Rd and Austintown are corporate. I'm not sure about Main St in Canfield.
