I started couponing last Black Friday. I started with CVS and am pleased with my savings. I decided to try Walgreens this week. I read the threads, gathered my coupons, and off I went. I was excited because this truly looked like a great week to start. When I approached the register, the cashier saw my coupons. I did not have my binder, just what I had sorted and knew I would be using. The cashier said, "I hope you are not planning on using coupons because you won't be getting register rewards if you do!" I had her call the manager. He stated, "Walgreen's corporate policy is either register rewards OR coupons, not both. You need to decide which means more to you before you check out." I was beyond arguing with him because it was apparent that I was not going to win. I just left my cart sitting there and told him "Your attitude is why I don't shop here!" I was so frustrated! I drove to another Walgreens and had no problems. Of course, by this point I did not do the scenarios like I had intended, nor did I get all that I intended, but I did at least do pretty well with what I did purchase. Thanks to all of you that contribute. It is a HUGE help when learning to shop a new store.

I'm so sorry you had a bad experience. I know how frustrating this can be. Thankfully you have another WAGS that you can drive to! I have the same thing where I live. There is one WAGS that I refuse to shop at. They hate coupons! However, I have several other stores to choose from and they are always nice and welcoming. Don't let the bad experience keep you from the deals. I think the really good couponer is the one that keeps going when the going gets tough!

That's just crazy! At my store they can be very picky about coupons. For example, we can't use two like coupons in one transaction. So, if the deal is buy 2 get $X RR I can still only use one coupon. They have never tried to tell me I can't use a coupon and get a RR though. In fact, the cashiers don't even seem to be aware of what will trigger RR and what won't. Today I had two cashiers (one was getting ready to take over for the other). My receipt printed and then an ad from the catalina machine. I waited. The RR's started printing and it printed several. The guy was like "wow!" and I said "well, that's the way to shop" :) He asked what I had purchased because he wanted a good deal. It was funny because I had only done free after RR items this morning... I figured they would have been up on all that. LOL
