Anybody else have trouble with Special K "$5 off instantly" or P&G $5 wyb 3/$10 wyb 5?

I had NO trouble getting my $12 printout for my next purchase when I bought $50 in Huggies/Ziploc/Glade, even though I used coupons that doubled and brought my actual payment to about $30. BUT the other two special offers in the weekly ad didn't print for me. After spending half an hour waiting/arguing with a manager, I left satisfied with a gift card but I just wanted to warn other people and see if anyone else had trouble.

I bought 5 Special K items featured, so I should have gotten $5 off instantly at the register, but it didn't show up as a discount off either the price of the items or at the end of the receipt.

I bought 3 of the P&G products featured in the "get $5 wyb 3, $10 wyb 5 (off your next purchase)" and that didn't print either. Of course the manager said it was cuz I used doubled coupons and you can't combine the special offers. I don't see how that was true, and told her that didn't make any sense since I had used coupons on the Kimberly-Clark offer and it printed just fine. She said she could call somewhere up the chain of command and she would mail me the gift cards if they approved it, I said no thank you, I will just return all the items in those two deals cuz I live 45 minutes away and I don't want to make another trip to return them if I am denied, which she seemed to think would happen. She went and got some of my coupons to give back to me (I told her there were more she would have to go get) and we waited again for a cashier to process the return. I then pointed out they would end up owing me money because I used a $12 coupon from the Kimberly-Clark deal and the other items in my purchase (the ones I wasn't returning) were less than $12, so she had better figure out how to handle that. Of course she was like "oh, yeah, that's going to be a problem". I said I can tell you the easiest way to handle this but you aren't going to like it...give me a $10 gift card to cover the two $5 credits I should have gotten and I will not have to return the items (which were worth $46 dollars). She said okay. She wrote down my receipt number and stuff to call headquarters or whatever, but it doesn't matter to me cuz I know I did what the rules said and got the rewards I should have earned.

I just wonder if the same thing happened to other people at other stores or that same store. I saw tons of other people walking around with 5 Special K items and 3-5 P&G items and I warned them to be careful.

I did the Special K offer this morningand had no trouble. The $5 comes off automatically and is added in to the "rewards redeemed" total which also adds the doubled coupons to it.

Thanks for one confirmation aquene27, I am thinking about trying the Special K deal again since one of the boxes had more Special K $2 Qs on it. Did you only buy the cereal or did you mix in some of the bars/shakes like I did? My receipt from this first purchase that did not generate the $5 instant savings does not show the extra $5 in the "coupons redeemed" line, only the $10 in manu Qs I used that doubled, then an extra line item for the $12 Kmart savings coupon from the Huggies deal and the $1 Kmart savings coupon for the protein shakes from another box of Special K I bought months ago.

special K cereals are messed up. some of them are in the computer as just CEREAL and not special K. so they dont activate the $5 off. FYI

Special K worked fine for me. I got 3 cereals (1 blueberry and 2 vanilla almond) and 2 bars (1 cinnamon pecan and 1 vanilla crisp).

ETA: My receipt said something about "Special K savings" at the end.

I just bought 5 boxes of cereal. I have the receipt, but it doesn't show specifially the $5 off. Its added into the total saved value. I watched for it when she rang it up and made sure it came off before she rang anything else up! Lol. Hope it works for you next time!

It didn't work at my store either, but they were aware of the problem and manually adjusted all the cereal to $1.25 a box.

I don't believe Tide is part of the $12/50 promo. It seems only Kimberly Clark and SC Johnson products.

I posted in another thread that it didn't work for me either. I had totally forgot about maybe being doubles this week so I went in for just the cereal. I bought 5 boxes handed them 5 1/1 mc and it did not come off. Didn't think anything of it until I got home, I only paid 2.67 for all 5 boxes so it didn't register till later. I did 2 transactions back to back and neither one of them took it off. Five strawberry in 1 order and 4 straw and 1 blue in the other. I will be going back tomorrow and hopefully they will give me a gc and I can get more.

One of the Special K items, besides cereal, must not be in the computer system to count toward the deal.

I went back and did it again today and after a little explanation, the manager gave me a $5 cash card. The only problem I had was after I completed the transaction and got to my car to read over the receipt, I realized the two $2 off two particular Special K items had not rung up. I went back in for the $8 and it took many people almost another 1/2 hour to figure it out and they still didn't have it right. They had is so messed up and complicated, I'm like why can't you just hand me the $8 like Target or Walmart would do, which the manager finally did. With my kids running all over and driving me nuts, I just wanted to go postal. I don't think I can take this any more. If there machines can not work right, I'm done. I already went on Kmartfeedback.com about yesterday's mess, I will be going back on again for today.

Special K did NOT work for me on Sunday. I got Red Berry - the special box with coupons printed on the back. This box has a different UPC than the regular Special K red berry. Rec'd $5 cash from CS. CS gets a bad rap a lot, but they were friendly, helpful, and apologetic.

Would love to see a list of working/not working items/UPCs.

I'm at work and don't have the UPC's on me, but the deal DID work for me. My receipt has a $5 deduction for "Special K Savings" at the bottom. I got:

2 vanilla almond cereal (both had the $10 off jeans thing on the front)
1 blueberry cereal (also may have had the $10 off jeans thing, not sure now)
1 box cinnamon pecan bars
1 box vanilla crisp bars

At our store none of the cats or promos were working properly... thankfully we have very patient mgrs. who gladly handed out gift cards in lieu of the catalinas/$$ off promos.

I plan to do the Special K again tomorrow (no rush today as the store was OVERstocked with the stuff! lol), hopefully it'll work out this next time around!

Well, I went back there today with 5 more coupons, and bought 4 boxes regular Special K and one box of Special K crackers. The $5.00 did not come off (still!!!) and after over 30 minutes of talking to 3 different people and 2 managers (explaining how they fixed the problem over the weekend) they gave me the 5.00 in a gift card, but they said that the coupons I used made the deal not work (which is NOT true, I checked if it came off before I applied any coupons, and it did not come off!).

Their explanation was that "with coupons and the $5.00 off I would be, like, getting them for free." I just looked at them like, yeah? And? Unfortunately the one manager said from now on they are telling people no if they think the 5.00 will come off if you use coupons... it made me very sad, I was planning on another trip tomorrow!!!

I was able to do the deal today no problem..The 5$ comes off at the end on your receipt ( atleast it is suppose to or that is where mine did ) Mine says Special K savings 5.00- right above my tax... I had 3 berry and 2 blueberry and had overage from it...My store is doubling...


I wouldn't see why the Fruit and Yogurt wouldn't work..My Kmart had a display with that included...along with Vanilla something, Cinnamon Pecans, Blueberry and Berry and a few others I think too were sitting on the display...

It worked fine for me today. I also did the P&G for the $10.00. I had called ahead and asked if I could turn around and use the $10.00 on another purchase & was told yes. However, it printed "valid 10/15-10/31", so I could not use it. Rats, was hoping to use it during doubles.

I scanned all the cereals at the price scanner to see if any of them were ringing up differently. They all scanned “SPECIAL K ADV $4/10” except the Red Berries flavor which scanned “CEREAL $4/10”. So maybe if the item is not scanning with the wording “Special K” it will not trigger the deal. So if your store has a price scanner it may be worth a try??

This method worked for me! I went back for the third time to my Kmart, and this time I did not buy any Special K crackers, I just bought 4 boxes of regular Special K and one Blueberry Special K, and the $5.00 came off! Whoo! I had a wonderful cashier today too, I wanted to hug her, she was wonderful with the coupons and didn't enforce a limit at all! :)
