I just got back from Lowes. Assist mgr was telling me that 10/6/09 will be the last day to use greenpoints in the store. LF is changing the rewards policy. Instead of giving you GP, they are going to give you a $5 coupon for every $300 that you spend in store. (each visit's total wil go towards the $300)

GPs will still be good online for 2 years.

I asked about the bonus points for reusable bags and she said that those would be worth 5 cents. (I am assuming 5 cents towards your $300 total).

I looked on the Lowesfood.com site and I can find NO reference at all to the greenpoints program other than donating GPs to charity.

Well I guess I might go ahead and try and spend my Green points...good to know..Not like I shop there much anyway-not sure how I got the points I got-other than those shopping bags.

Lowes Foods is getting lamer every day. Not that I used greenpoints that often, but it was nice to be able to use them to get $5 off my total order every few months.

Didn't this rumor go around a few months ago too?

I am going by Lowe's this afternoon so I am going to see what I can find out.

Yeah, this is the third time this rumor has surfaced this year.

But truthfully, I could care less. We had to get a new LF card back in early May. We haven't used any Green Points from the new card and we've only accumulated 786. I guess that mean we've only spent about $80 in LF since May.

However, we have saved almost $800.00 since May.

You need to start re-using Lowes bags or bring in cloth shopping bags. Each bag gets 50 points a pop. That is how I accumulate all mine. I forgot my bags the other day and when I looked at my receipt I had only earned 7 greenpoints for the entire transaction. I was king of bummed. Usually I get about 200-250 per transaction.

My LF head cashier did confirm the change. You can use GPs to get giftcards online(so she said) or spend them in the store for items (she said until October 1st for my store). Then it will go to spend $? get $?off.

My friend in CS at my Lowe's said he hadn't heard anything about it but he did also admit that they often don't find out about things until the last minute so I'm going to keep checking with him.

I just got back from shopping at Lowe's tonight. I was told by the cashier and the CSM that the greenpoints are ending Wednesday,September 23 not Oct. 6th like I had just been told a few days ago at another Lowes store.

shouldn't they be informing the customers? I guess they're going to pull a Walgreens. (I'm still a little miffed about the ESR ending and them not informing anyone!)

I was given a flyer over the weekend by the cashier. It listed an option of donating your points to the harvest food bank. The points are officially ending.

SO I wrote CS on line to ask what the deal was...Here is the response.

Good afternoon Mr. xxxx, (though I am a Mrs!)

Yes, something great is coming to Lowes Foods customers! At this time we are unable to disclose details. We are always looking for ways to provide our customers with better value and look forward to sharing our new program on October 7, 2009. Until then you can still earn and redeem points at Lowes Foods.

In the meantime, feel free to visit www.greenpoints.com (http://www.greenpoints.com/) for a complete listing of items for purchase by redeeming your points including products and gift cards. Rest assured; you will not lose your greenpoints. When the greenpoints program ends, you will continue to have the ability to earn and redeem greenpoints through greenpoints.com.

We look forward to sharing our new program on October 7, 2009 - You will love it!

Maybe the new program will be better than Green points.

Just received this email from Lowes.

As one of our most valued customers, I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce you to an exciting new rewards program that we will launch on October 7th. The name of the program is fresh rewards and it is designed specifically to reward loyal customers like you!
As a loyal customer, you will earn fresh rewards on all eligible purchases every time you shop. The more you spend, the more you earn. Additionally, a wide variety of promotional offerings will allow you to earn fresh rewards at an even faster rate. Each time that you earn $5.00 in fresh rewards, your Lowes Foods cashier will provide you with a $5.00 fresh rewards cash coupon that can be used towards your next purchase. There is no limit to the number of fresh rewards cash coupons that can be earned, and you can redeem as many as you would like in a single trip!
There is absolutely nothing that you need to do today to participate in the program. You are pre-enrolled and can begin earning fresh rewards on October 7th. However, you should stop by the Lowes Foods customer service desk once the program launches so that you can get your new fresh rewards card.
As we transition to fresh rewards, we will also retire the Greenpoints program. Rest assured, this does not mean that your Greenpoints will disappear or lose their value. By visiting http://www.greenpoints.com/ you will find that there are extensive options to continue to earn and redeem Greenpoints, including dozens of gift card choices at terrific values.
I would like to personally thank you for your continued loyalty to Lowes Foods. We are confident that you will be as excited about fresh rewards as we are, and we look forward to seeing you in our stores again soon!
Sincerely,
Steve Hall
