I use Revolution on my dog and it worked amazing. Never had a flea on her and I like that it prevents heartworms too. But I don't like the price $60 for 3 months. She only weighs 2lbs and the package said up to 5lbs. Im wondering how many of you have been able to get a larger dose and use it twice (half one month the other half the following month)? I have found it cheaper online but its the same price for the larger size dog so Im considering this. And I would keep the extra in something to keep it sealed up. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I've done this, but only with the flea preventive (not Heartworm)

I split the large dose between my 3 small dogs and it works great.

My vet actually suggested that I do this for my pets. For my Chi, I take out 2cc's from my 50+ lb German Sheps tube of Advantage and for the heartworm meds, she actually gave me the next pill size up and told me to split the pills in half. Love it! :)

Thanks so much for the replys. I have split the capstar pills before but never used twice the liquid Revolution. But it does come in a tube with a replaceable top so im thinking I can just put it back on as long as it doesnt leak out.

Yes it works great just be careful with what you use. Some products for dogs aren't the same for cats and so on. However there are a few that are. The one I have used is Advantage. I have purchased amber vials to keep open one in and I buy them by the three packs on Ebay. You can get 1 ml syringe at a local pharmacy. Medicine Shoppe sold me 3 of them for 75 cents (they have needle but that easily comes off) One tube of it does my cats and dogs for 3 months. The 3 pack on Ebay sells for 30-35 bucks. My animals are indorrs so risks of ticks is not good and they are treated for heartworms of course. I even found a chart with how much to give each animal based on weight. As long you store excess in a good container (amber bottles are great) you will be fine. You can purchase those on ebay too for less than a dollar apiece. I got medical grade ones. Can't imagine how much money I have saved. :BigHand:

Great post! One thing to add about buying Advantage in person is be clear you want Advantage and not Advantix. Sometimes it's noisy :giggle2:at the vet's office. :cat54:
