cvs--Coupons and ExtraCare card

I'm just curious - should I give my coupons to the cashier before giving him/her my extra care card? Does it matter? Tomorrow will only be my 2nd official CVS trip and I have it all planned out. Don't want to get there and have it not work because I did this incorrectly.

card is first, then items, then cvs coupons, then manu coupons.

I'm surprised that deals are on BEFORE coupon totals then since they take the EC card first!
