I started shopping at Aldi's again for the first time in about a year, and I was ecstatic to get LOTS of stuff, including fresh produce, all for only $20. Stuff that I can't typically get with coupons. Anyways, I went this past Sunday, and I got several oranges, peaches and bananas. I noticed this morning that the oranges have gone moldy on the peel (never in my life have I seen this happen), the banana's went straight from green to brown and spotty...no healthy in between yellow color.

Has anyone else ever had problems with produce from Aldi? I'm confused on why this happened...

The only issue I've had with their produce is that potatoes and onions seem to go bad quicker than if I buy them from somewhere else--they're still fine as long as I use them fairly quickly, but they just don't stay good as long. And the strawberries sometimes already have a bit of mold on bottoms, even in the store--but I've had this problem sometimes with strawberries from all kinds of stores (from Walmart to Harris Teeter to Kroger to Meijer to....).

ETS: And sometimes their bananas, in store, are all either very green or already brown. Obviously I don't buy any then.. but we've gotten bananas there a lot (when they're not too green or brown in the store) and they always seem fine.

Aldis produce is 50/50 for me. Sometimes it is great and other times it seems to spoil very quickly. As pp mentioned I have had the same problem with fruit in other stores(Walmart, Fareway, Hy-vee). When I get home I wash and dry all produce and then put it in the fridge. I can't seem to get fruit to keep if I leave it in the fruit bowl or in the hanging basket.

maybe that's part of the problem. I didn't keep any of it in the fridge...I put it all in a fruit bowl on the counter. I never keep banana's in the fridge, but that's probably the problem with the oranges. Thanks!

Bring it back... they will give you a refund. Quality, taste and satisfaction are double-guaranteed at aldi. If for any reason you are not 100% satisfied with any product, they will replace the product and refund your money. Just return the item to your nearest aldi. (non-food and special purchase items are not included)

I often have that problem with Aldi's produce. We're in Florida and I always put produce in the fridge, so that's not ours goes bad. I don't know what it is, but now I only buy produce that we're going to eat within a day or two.

I was just talking about this issue with my mother in law. The produce goes bad REALLY fast for us. I wish it lasted longer because the prices are so good.

I buy produce at Aldi's, but I try to only buy what I know I'll use in a few days. I love their potato prices, but I have to plan ahead when I buy them, because they usually don't last more than a week. I buy onions and bell peppers when they're cheap, but I chop them and freeze them the day I bring them home. I haven't bought much fruit there, so I don't know how long it lasts.

I haven't shopped at Aldi in forever, but I've also had problems with their potatoes and onions not lasting very long. I will get fruit there (after close inspection), but I won't get things there that I need to last a while. I haven't had as many problems with potatoes and onions from other stores.

Get the green bags for your produce and fruit, they are reusable too, atleast it gives them a couple extra days.
