View Full Version : Meijer-Coupons did not double--did I do something wrong?

I bought Green Giant veggies and used two IPs for the Steamers and two IPs for the boxed in a transaction. It did not double two of the coupons. I didn't notice until I was home. I had a second transaction where I was using two IPs for steamers, two for the boxed, and two that stated "any Green Giant veg". As far as I knew, these are three different coupons so they should have all doubled. Instead, again, only two doubled. I am trying to figure out if this is because the system interpreted all the coupons as being the same or if it was just a bad day at the Uscan. Please let me know what you think. I am not sure I want to bother bringing stuff back over $3.00 in coupons but I am really disappointed.
TIA!

I've seen that happen with Aunt Millies Q's. Sometime the wording is different but the bar code is the same so the Q's wont double.

Not a bad day IMO, I think it is their "new, updated system" this happened to me last night. I was using 2 .50/1 "steamers" and 2 .50/1 "green giant frozen" veggies (2 different bar codes) and the register only doubled 2.
When I whipped out the ad for back up, I was saddened to see that the wording actually states: "Limit of two identical coupons will double. Additional coupons for identical items will be redeemed at face value." (Is this new wording?)
So, in my case, as I was buying all steamers, I didn't fight it. Even though I know that is not they way 2 different q's for like items have worked in the past!! I don't understand why your q's didn't double if you were buying boxed too, but I think it is their new "smarter system".
Maybe the new system only recognizes the GG part :giggle2:

I think the "identical" wording is the same as it has always been. I know when the warm delights were on 10/10 I got 2 free using insert Q's and 2 free using IP's. Same products, but Q's were not identical. My guess is the Green Giant IP's are identified as identical by the system, no matter what the product.
I am not impressed by the new system. I ventured into Meijer this week after a several week absence, and was burned by the 10/10. The system only took off .62 for my free item, which was the price of a can of Campbell's tomato soup that was not even part of the promotion. :shrug7:

The exact same thing happened to me, my "free" item only deducted .62, not 1.00!

I had 1 of the taco bell .50/1 shells coupons not double and I have no idea why either. I only used 2 .50 coupons in the whole transaction so there shouldn't of been any issue.
I'd forgotten about that until I saw this post. I'll have to watch very very carefully while ringing in my .50 coupons.
And OP, all 3 coupons that you used had different barcodes. I have them sitting right here in front of me. I'd go back and have them fix it honestly.

Thanks, I think you are all right. Unfortunately I don't have the coupons to look at to see what the codes are but if I look at my receipt all the coupons scanned the same code, even though they were for different items. I don't recall this being an issue before, so perhaps this is something with the new system. I had some trouble with the UScan this time with it saying I didn't insert my coupon when I did (and there was nothing in the slot to blow down) so I was worried that was it.
I don't know about you all, but having to do 6 transactions to buy 6 bags of steamers and 6 boxed veggies is really frustrating.

I hear ya :) Months back I had to do 16 different transactions to get all my Steamers Free @ Meijer. I wish Meijer would have unlimited doubles like Kroger. I buy more at Meijer but I never have any Q problems at Kroger.... SIGH!

On the upside, I did find an awesome cashier at Meijer who totally understood usage of the mealbox coupons and mfq. She was so nice and helpful, and is my new favorite Meijer cashier!

I think their system has become too confusing, on the Lysol products I used 2 mq and the Mealbox and once again it would not scan but the cashier did give it to me as a Meijer q at the bottom. On the 10/$10 mine came off at .95 free item and the second one came off as -.45 and below it says Limit of 1.00 Reached. So in reality they should clarify that the 10/$10 does not mean you will get the 11th free, it will give you some kind of computer average.
To the OP I would go back and ask for the money back as to me the boxed vegies are different from the bagged, in particular if the bar codes are different.

I used the uscan Sunday. I did two transactions using the GG coupons. On the first transaction I used 2 for the steamers and 1 for the boxes the 2 steamers coupons doubled but not the one for the boxed veggies. It just so happened the cashier had to come over to approve the transaction and she doubled the coupon while there. I of course thought great the next transaction is going to be messed up also. The second transaction I used 2 steamer coupons and 2 boxed coupons. This time they all 4 doubled as they should. Just another example of a meijer oddity. Strangly enough my $.55 wonder bread coupon that I only had one of did not double. I forgot about that until I got home, so I did not have it fixed.

I think I decided not to go return them since they are a frozen item and I don't feel like dealing with it. Thanks bebebear for sharing your story too--it helps to know that it wasn't just me--I'm glad that your cashier caught it!

Okay, here is an update. I went back to Meijers with the boxed veg coupons, steamers coupons, and the "any Green Giant vegetable" coupon. Note that the UPCs and other codes on the coupons are all different. So, I tried using the boxed coupon and the "any" coupon in one transaction. One of the coupons did not double. They told me that was because the coupons were the same. We looked at them and I showed them that the wording was different and the codes were different. They said it was because they are from the same vendor.
So, is this a new policy? I am seriously going to start to hate shopping at Meijers if I have to separate out coupons by vendor for every transaction.

I was at Meijer in Lafayette, IN yesterday and NONE of my coupons doubled. I nearly had a heart attack! They all said "Do Not Double or Triple" on them so she didn't. She said that was the way she was trained when I questioned it. She called someone and they said to go ahead and double. I think they are making it harder and harder for us!

Check the first 6 digits of the UPC. If the first 6 digits are the same, then it will only double the first 2 Qs (even though the rest of the UPC digits are different on the various Qs). I discovered this with the Lysol pourable & trigger. They both start with the same 6 digits, so only 2 doubled.
Also, the GG Steamers IP says "do not double".

I went to Meijer with multiple 50 cents off mq's for Ragu and 35's for some other product. NONE of them doubled. She must have done them manually. She said that the q's said "don not double or triple" on them and she was trained to follow that. She called a supervisor to ask when I questioned it and she told the checker to double them.
