I call about not getting the full value off when getting a free and using coupons.

So here is what she said.
recent new laws regarding coupon redemption- Then went into a speal about cash value. then goes on to explain that I cannot use a coupon on a item that I am getting free. Ok I get that. Because if the item is free and the I get $$ off I am getting cash value.

But my issue is I bought 10 soups, and one meijer english muffin. I figured I paid for the soup, and used coupons on it to do so, then I get the muffins free. I did not use a q on them! I can't help it if the computer chose the soup instead.

Same with the yogurt last time. I bought the items needed with coupons, I did not use a coupon on the free!

I will be calling her to reexplain my position

Keep calling!

Okay, this would be a real PITA, I know, but you could scan your free item after you have scanned your coupons for your other items...that should work, right? Get the coupon values off first so that your 11th item rings up as free.

Hey, that's a great idea.... why didn't I think of this? Thanks!

did the muffins show up as free in the first place? You have to scan in the free item as the actual 11th item.
I was worried last night because of all the problems with the registers but I made sure to scan in all my coupon items first then scan in my free item 11th and it didn't mess up in 4 orders so that seems to be working.
The not doubling coupons thing did have to be manually fixed but it wasn't a big deal. She could see I was using different coupons.

I tried scanning my coupon items first then the items without coupons. The register showed that my non coupon items came off as free. However, when I was done and my receipt came out, 3 of the items that were shown free on the screen, were not free. I was overcharged. Then the soups I bought kept ringing up at 1.26 not 1.00 so that messed with another few sets of free items. After manually fixing the prices, they had to manually fix the free items which should have been non coupon items. However they took it off my soups. So when I scanned my coupons, they wouldn't work. The cashier had to force them in. I had a bad trip this week. :hectic1:

I’ve never tried using the coupons right after certain items because the register tells you to save your coupons until last when you first start. That would be a great way to make sure you’re getting credit for the MB Qs if the u-scan would only let you scan the MB Qs yourself. I have tried scanning the 10 for $10 in order before but the register rearranged everything and still chose the free product itself.

I also had trouble with the soup last week, the Campbell’s Soup at Hand. I had one on each of my two transactions that scanned at $1.19 instead of counting as the 10 for $10 get the 11th free. At first, I was told I got the wrong soup but then I showed her that the ad included SAH. So she then said only certain varieties must be included and I told her there was a tag under that flavor advertising the sale for that particular flavor. Then I couldn’t get her to understand when I felt my refund should be $1.19 instead of $1.00.

Will my total refund was over $4.00 because I had MB Qs that didn’t come off at all with one being because she didn’t scan it, I actually saw her just lay it over. She tried arguing with me that I bought the wrong stuff but I wasn’t going to have that. Finally she asked me what I though my total refund should be just to get rid of me, but she gave it to me in the form of credit coupons. She said to use them on my next transaction to get the credit. I use the envelope system now and often use my allowance within less than a $1.00, so I wasn’t pleased with not getting actual money back that I could use at my next stop. That’s as big a crock as Wal-Mart willing to only refund your money for a return with a Wal-Mart gift card sometimes.
