Ok we used to have our dog on Reveloution .Due to the cost I opted for flea treatments you get at the pet store and Walmart .
Well we have had no problems till now .
I am seeing fleas.
I have vacuumed (we don't have much carpet most of the floors are wood or tile )
Gave my poor dog 4 baths in the last few days mostly with the Dawn which is the pure kind hypo -allerginic as she is allergic to a lot of stuff.
Sprayed the yard as best as I could .
Bought Frontline and used it last month plan to do it again on the 24th .
I am at a loss on what I can more .

Any ideas ?

unfourtunately the over the counter flea prevention is not that very effective in my opinion. I am a vet tech at a animal clinic, and the number one complaint of fleas is that the over the counter stuff doesn't touch the fleas, and the client ends up having to purchase either the advantage, o rfrontline product. at our clinic we sell the advantage on tube at a time. I don;t know if every clinic does this, but its a good thing for people who can only afford 12.00 every month for flea prevention. Also if interested the advantage company is running a promo for advantage flea prevention, where if you buy a 6 month supply you get 2 months free. this is valid until the end of this month. ideally you want to treat for at least 2 to 3 months, casue the fleas that lay eggs will be hatching in weeks to come. flea baths don't really work good, yes they kill the fleas that are on the animal at that time, but it won't kill the fleas that jump on the pet after flea bathed. any more questions? lmk

No my vet office only offered 3-6 and 12 month supplies
I gave her Frontline on 8-24 I am assuming I have to wait till 9-24 to re treat ?
I wish it was only 12 dollars I paid 44 + for Frontline at 1-800 pet meds
I just cannot believe she got them this year .

We give our beagles a chewable called Comfortis. It starts to work in 30 minutes. The fleas drop off dead. It works for a month, its a good price, and it also helps with any skin conditions they may have. It does not work on Ticks. But for fleas, this stuff is awesome. I just looked it up and found it here. Comfortis: Flea Preventative In Dogs - 1800PetMeds (http://www.1800petmeds.com/Comfortis-prod11039.html)

Our low cost spay and neuter clinic in the county has it for 9.00 a chewable I think. Its very effective. We are finally happy and flea free!:dog77:

We got infested by the neighbors flea bag dogs several summers ago and had no luck with the Frontline at all. Come to find out, some fleas are resistant to Frontline. This being the case, our vet gave us Capstar to kill the existing fleas on our pets and suggested switching over to Advantage for ongoing protection. Within 3 days the fleas were gone. This coming after dealing with the fleas for almost 2 months and shelling out $$$ (we were infested inside & outside!) and thinking there was no end in site. I suggest trying Advantage as it was the only thing that worked for us. :) Oh and no we didn't have to wait the full month to switch over to a new flea medicine, we did it as soon as our vet confirmed that it was okay to do it.

You can try mixing up some Dawn with water and spraying it on your yard. That will kill some existing fleas and won't kill your grass, supposedly. It worked on my yard a few years ago when we got an infestation from the neighbor.

Try the capstar pill and then use frontline. The capstar pill will kill them all right away and then the frontline will keep them off. PM me if you need more info on the capstar.

If the fleas are in the house and in the carpet, you have to vacuum every other day or so to get all the fleas and eggs as they hatch. When you are done vacuuming if you have a canister vacuum, empty it into the trash and take it outside because if you don't, the fleas will jump out of the vacuum and back on the carpet. Good luck!

question should be : where are the fleas coming from???
majority of the time, the answer is the neighbors yard/dog/house or racoons and stray cats.

you can buy a chemical that you can spray on your yad (one you use the hose with) there are many out there that you can buy....this will help with the yard...if you have neighbors, spray a little over the fence...

if no neighbors, then you need to try and find the source of the fleas...do you have stray cats living in a shed? raccoon family somewhere? you get what i am saying

if they are in your house, the best thing to do is get a bunch of flea bombs, open up every cabinet and high tail it out of there...then come home and wash everything and vacuum like crazy..

i feel for you. fleas suck

i learned my lesson one year, the following year i found it cheaper just to buy the good stuff from the vet....if your vet is too expensive, call around to other vets or see if you can get the same stuff from tractor supply or farm and fleet

My dh sprayed the yard .The only animals we get are birds, rabbitts and squirrels.
I recalled the vet and they said I should try Borax on my carpets and that I had to use Frontline for 2 more months.

IDK if you have used the Flea Meds yet, but remember that you should wait a few days before and after applying meds before bathing again. Does that make sense?

Also, my vet has recommened not using BioSpot if buying over the counter flea medicine(they have seen cases of the pets being sick after use of this)

Fleas can also cause your dogs to have worms(this is one of the main reasons vets recommend using flea meds, even when there is no sign of it. Sometimes they can have worms that you can't see to the eye(only through testing)

Okay I might have a way you can do it cheap. I do use frontline plus on my cats and dogs (I buy the huge vial and store in vial. I use a syringe (1ml-no needle of course) and administer like you would small ones. I have a great source for this stuff on ebay (Its a vet who over buys them intentionally) I purchased one tube of frontline plus for 12.99 plus shipping and have the vials and syringes. Its easy to do too. Also I use an oil in my dog's shampoo and they can even eat the leaves. This stuff is something I had never heard of. I presently use it for a number of things (psoriasis, for garden (Keeps all biting bugs off my plants) and on my animals (thru shampoo) Its called Neem Oil. One drawback, you will want to add a carrier oil to it so that it doesn't stink. (It does have an unpleasant oder but mixes with lemon oil it fine to use) Google Neem oil and see for yourself. I have a great supplier for it. Message me if you would like to try it and I can give you suggestions. As for the psoriasis, it has helped a lot along with a couple other natural treatments i use. I never even see a flea around my place as you can use this stuff inside and out and its non-poisononous. Good luck with flea problem. I also have tons of vials andsyringes for the frontline. If you would like to try it that way I will set a kit up at cost (my cost) plus postage, but its pretty easy to do yourself. Don't go for pre-made kits on Ebay as the flea frontline is not a US source. Many come from Australia and other places overseas.
