CVS -- Won't take Cover Girl coupons!!

This is my first post to HCW but I've been a lurker for about a week now. Ive learned SO MUCH about couponing and CVSing here!! So thanks so much!! :)

Anyways today I tried to go into my CVS to buy the 2 deodorants (and get 5 ECB) and to get the CoverGirl foundation with the free face makeup product (I have a coupon for this). I also had a coupon for the $1 off any CG product. I also had the $5/$25 coupon for filling out the online survey. I have $9 in ECB that I was going to use, too.

So I go to check out and I give her the 2 deodorants and the CG foundation and the CG powder. Then I give her the 5/25 coupon, then (2) $2 off for the deodorants and then the $1 off CG product and then the buy one foundation get the other CG face product free coupon. She told me I couldnt use both CG coupons at once! I saw her scan the -$1 coupon first and then try to rescan it or something so it made the register beep. I'm pretty sure she did it wrong but she told me I can't do both of the coupons. I told her yes you can, I've done it before.... Im really confused?? I thought I read on here that you CAN do the free CG face product with the -$1 coupon, one for each item?? I tried to explain this to her (I think it was the manager) and she got a big attitude with me and I basically cancelled my order and told her I was going somewhere else!!

Who was in the wrong here?? Im so confused!!

Coupon acceptance is ultimately up to the store manager, but yes....you should be able to use two coupons when purchasing two items. The cashier was certainly in the wrong, as the free q was for the face product and the $1 q was for the foundation.

I would just go back and try again, maybe you'll get a different cashier that knows a bit more or is willing to be helpful. It may have helped to ask for a manager and calmly explain the situation (if you had time). We all have to be very patient with the cashiers, because in the end....if they don't want to take a coupon and the manager isn't willing to either, it's their choice and there's not a lot we can do about it.

Well then I guess its a good thing we have 3 CVS's in the area!! lol It wasnt really that she wouldnt take it, its that she was just plain rude about it... And I had my 9 mo old with me, for goodness sake!! I thought all old people were nice??? LOL

That's why I like having more than one CVS in the area too...you begin to learn who gives couponers trouble and who doesn't!!

Generally I have found that most stores (not limited to CVS) DO NOT accept an extra coupon on top of a BOGO coupon. Some coupons are coded not to allow this. You can always try, but I consider it an extra if a store does take it. Just like with all stores and cashiers we all have different outcomes. I never count on them taking both, but I would want them to use the BOGO coupon. We can always try and hope for the best. It is really up to the store/manager on what they will accept, but rudeness should not be tolerated. I just cannot stand it when customers get mistreated.

yes i would agree that this has to be different from store to store, I have been shot done too many times to I havent tried in a while but I have had it done for me also so I would try a different cvs and if they tell you no just have them take those two things off the order so you dont have to completly reshop:smile:

I agree with some cashiers allowing it and some not. I know who is going to get huffy with me too and I try my best to avoid them but I have 5 CVS stores within about 10 minutes of me:) Most of my cashiers just push things thru when they beep I have had a few who do the 1 over and some who do the fine tooth comb:rolleyes24:, but I am not trying to get over on anyone so bust that comb out baby:hysterical:.

I had a newbie cashier who examined both of my coupons and then did try to scan both of them - but they both beeped!? So he tried to tell me that I didn't buy the right ones (although the coupon says ANY cg item and ANY foundation).

I tried to tell him that what I was buying WAS foundation - but he insisted that it had to be the ones "with the plastic caps" that was pictured.:shrug7:

I was too tired to fight with him - so I just got the 1 so I could get my ECB's and get out.
