I've read posts which seem to indicate catalinas are issued in grocery stores, drugstores, well, just about everywhere. I have yet to get one, although I'll admit I haven't tried couponing in drugstores yet So what's the deal? I've never gotten any in Publix or Bi-Lo. Are they just a "sometimes" issuance?

Catalinas are the things that spit out at the register when you check out. They're about the size of your receipt and spit out of a separate machine next to the cashier. I think all major chains have them. As to when and what they spit out, that depends on what you buy. Certain things trigger the cat to print. Even if there's no good coupon, often there's an advertising cat that spits out advertising a future promotion or a local event or something. The cashier should hand them to you along with your receipt.
Although I'm across the country from a Publix, I have been in them in the past and I'd be pretty sure they have catalinas. Bi-Lo is a pretty major store so they probably have them too.

Make sure to check the individual store threads, most have a Catalina sticky or sub-forum that lists current deals. At Walgreens, they are called Register Rewards.

Thank you both. I do know what they are, it's just that I never paid attention to who was issuing them, pre-couponing! I'll check the sub-forums now.

Hey! Just wanted to let you know, Publix does not do catalinas. The only places I personally from expierence know is Target, and CVS. I am knew to couponing as well, so Don't know exactly who does them, but I know for a fact Publix does not.
