We have 5 Food Lions in my city.
One opened several weeks ago.
Every week in my mail box I get two ads, the normal one and the one STILL advertising the grand opening of the 5th store.
The items in the 2 circulars are laid out a little differently, but the grand opening ad this week had 7 breakfast items on sale. The regular ad only had 4.
I went to one of the older stores and they would not honor the special on a certain item as advertised in the ad for the new store, that seems to have a grand opening every week.

Should I have expected all 5 stores to honor the prices at the new store?

They didn't, but should they, or am out of place on this?

Read the fine print of the ad. I'm sure it says something to the effect that those prices are only good at the new location. Not all stores will be "participating" locations of those sale prices. The point in the super low prices is to get you throught the door of the new location. You are wasting your time trying to get them to honor them at other locations.

Sorry, but the stores are in the right on this one. But...it would probably be to your advantage to go to the new location if it's within reasonable driving distance. They usually have some great tearpads at the new stores, plus all the great low prices!!!

I agree, they do not have to honor. Cory is right, they want you to go to that ONE store. They are trying to get you in the door and out of the competitions.

so, the 5 food lions are all competing against each other?

I'm ok with what happened, I thought courtesy, not required to honor, might have been extended to the customers that went to the wrong store, etc. The item was not marked on the shelf, so that tipped me off on what might happen, I asked the cashier to tell me if they were only sale and they said yes, but they did not ring up that way, so people in line got inconvenienced by me having to cancel the order. The clerk said the sale price applied and that turned out not so.

I can go to the new one tomorrow and get my items. no problem.

I remember when Bi-Lo expanded all sales were good everywhere and we do have a Super Bi-Lo and a non super Bi-Lo and all sales are honored or all ads are the same, one or the other.

thankfully no.......

but having my go to the new Food Lion for the sale, when 3 other Food Lions are closer to me, is not going to get me to visit the new store regularly.
I just thought all 5 of them would honor the sale. I was wrong. Food Lion is rather strict, even on the sale there is a limit of 2 free.

Thankfully, I have, within 12 miles:
2 Harris Teeter
1 Bloom
1 Lowes Foods
6 Food Lion
4 Bi-Lo

I was going to Food Lion for this particular item. I left Walmart and Target off the list because of their coupon policies the good sales are at the other stores. In this area we are lucky to have so many stores. And if I went out 20 miles instead of 12 miles, I could add 10-12 more of the above stores to the list.
