We were at Kroger on 20 and Great Southwest, a manager was bagging my friend's things and saw she used coupons. She asked if she had been there for the super double day. Said yes and the manager said they were going to have another. To be on the lookout for the announcement very soon.

When I was at the last Super Double sale one of the cashiers said Kroger's use to do this all the time. I don't remember them ever doing it before but I've only been doing the coupon thing about 6 months. How exciting! Hope we hear more news about this soon.

Good, I am going out of town and I will be sure to clip clip clip while my dh drives!
And yes, when I moved to Houston in 1999 *cough I used to shop at one of the Galleria Kroger stores that would triple .50 everyday. They changed that after less than a year of me here and I have NEVER seen $1 doubles.
I used to have to drive to Austin 5 years ago for the Albertsons double/triple events(ahhh memories) But then Albies went Out of business in Austin too and then I traveled to Portland for 1 doubles event at Kmart but it was really NOT worth the drive given their prices. and Portland store stopped participating anyway.
So this will be GREAT if it becomes a regular thing! You guys will see me at MIDNIGHT everytime this deal comes around :hysterical:

We are still eating on what we got last time!!

I was talking with one of the managers after the last Super Double and he said if they did it again, it would be certain hours, say 9am to 9pm, and not advertised as being one day like last time. He said that would assure them that they wouldn't have the problems that occurred last time with people coming late at night, when they were short staffed.

Maybe they should staff for it since they will know the turn out from the previous one :whistle67:
Ok - maybe that was a little rude. I showed up at my store around 10:00 and asked the manager if their machines were going to turn at midnight and how many transactions she would let me do. Once I talked to her and she saw some of the other usual late night couponers (when the children are at home sleeping w/dads and no lines) they asked a few employees to stay late and help with the checking out. :BigHand:
Fingers crossed this happens again and soon!!!! I see a little piece of shelf in my pantry. And my parents have been staying at the house for two weeks so I need to restock :hysterical:

Just wanted to add....a Kroger manager here in Houston said the same thing about an upcoming Super Double day. He thought it would be closer to the holidays. He said that next time they would be better prepared with their stock by becoming informed about what coupons were out at the time and then stock up on those items. We shall see....

don't know whether to shout for joy or filled with dread ... we just got most (still working on a couple) of the store computers back to doing 3 d/t after the last Super Doubles ... :rolleyes24:
sorry ... not one of my better days today, energy drained with arguing with companies about their policies and trying to find people that can/will do something to fix 'em.
Perhaps I should have said:
Good, now they know to list it on their calendars to reverse any Q limitations at xxx time at the end of the sale!!

i agree with you murphy and dont think that was rude at all. youd think they would have had a couple extra people there even if they werent sure it would be how it was. if i was a manager id rather be overstaffed for a promo like that, and be able to send people home than be understaffed and have to put everyone through hell. i know how bad it was when i went to the store, i can only imagine being there as a cashier doing that ALL DAY!
it would be nice if the managers would order extra stock of stuff we have coupons for. im sure many of us would love to walk the store with managers and our coupon binders and help them with that lmao

This would be soooo exciting!! I would be more than happy to sit down with the store manager and tell him everything that will be wiped out. That way they can have more than enough. I missed out on so many things because my hubby was too scared of me going out at midnight. But he now knows since I missed some deals that I really wanted that he will not have a choice. Maybe since we are moving closer to my parents he or my mom can go too. The other will have to stay home with the sleeping baby. (I should correct myself here he is no longer a baby but a toddler)
Anyways, hopefully this time I can be super organized and it will be awesome!! I am sooooo excited. Too bad we did not get the house we looked at with a 9 x 9 storage room in the house. That would be full!!

You and me, both, girl! ... Let's see ... saw a (forgot what it's called) "Rent a Room" storage building that looked like it's not used a lot ... maybe a group of us oughta buy it and have some room to store stuff! ... I'm still liking the idea of building/buying a warehouse and living in it! ... maybe having a recycling center in it, too so folks can bring me their newspapers -- inserts REQUIRED, of course!!:hysterical: otherwise, I'd have to charge them for bringing their papers!! Can see DH now, "oh yeah...? Well, you better start saving a lot more money to pay the utilities and taxes on it! not to mention the AC!" -- Think I'd have to do a lot of "creative accounting" for him to believe we'd break even!

When I was in Clute store yesterday, I saw the same manager who was there the night of the first super doubles and I asked him about the rumor and he said he had not heard anything, and he said he would have received an email if there was another one coming....so if there is, a may still be awhile down the road (with my luck, probably the week before Christmas, or something totally crazy like that)

I spoke with my sister in law, who has worked at Kroger 25+ years and she said that there will be another super double day. She is the one who programs the weekly sales in their system. She just did not know when but said she will let me know as soon as she found out. FYI, she is in Humble.

When I spoke to the manager at the Atascocita store a couple of days after the last superdoubles sale, I was commenting on how professional and calm the TWO GIRLS working at midnight were, esp when the computers weren't switching over and every coupon had to be overridden to be doubled, lines were a mile long, etc. He said it was corporate who told them how many cashiers they could have on board overnight. Hopefully they'll know better next time!
We need another superdoubles ASAP. Oh, Kroger........do you hear us?:wavehi::wavehi:

i'll be excited for another double day but man that day was just HARD! it took 2 days of prep working matching coupons to freebies and then the sales. got GREAT deals but w/2 full days of prep work (and working things into multiple trans to get things to triple etc) and then finding ppl were there @ midnight and everything really good was gone, i just don't know if i'm up for another. plus the lines were about an hour long. all my eggo's were thawed when i came home!
i hope they find a better way to do this or maybe do it more often so it's not such a mad rush for a 'once in a lifetime opportunity' LOL

I agree, it does look a lot better in there now. I was in there today, for the first time since the last super double day. I normally shop at the Kroger on the South side of the Loop.
I am hoping against hope that this next Super Double doesn't come yet, lol. I have to be out of town until the 19th! Does anyone have confirmation on the date yet? I can't imagine it would last a whole week anyway! Are they crazy?

Maybe not so crazy as smart ... if they did it during a mega event, people would use their 50¢Q and less anyway just to get the mega items ... . I hate to even write what my other thought is on having it for a week -- instead, I'll just say that these retailers are often "crazy like a fox."
