:shrug7:I posted a comment on this under my other post, but I thought it deserved it's own posting.

Did you see Cub now requires you reach your total on the catalina deals before coupons are applied? It's in fine print on the add. I have never seen it posted on the weekly add before last week. 2 of the offers required before coupons, and the other one didn't say.

I ignored it and tried to get away with it, and the coupon didn't print at the register! I asked the cashier why and she said that is because you used to many coupons. I guess they are starting to crack down on that? It's really to bad for consumers because it was always such a good deal.

I did see this. but this weeks deal of buy $20 get $5 from GM still prints out a $2.50 oyno when you buy 4 granola bars. So I was surprized to get the $5 and the $2.50.

I have not had a problem with getting my catalinas all week but I bet the minute I do they will point to the ad and tell me that's why I didn't get it! I think it is just worded that way to make life easier for the store if it doesn't print.

what am i missing?

if the deal is buy 20 get 5...you get $20 worth of items and you've hit the total required. now you pay first with your coupons (lets just say that totals $10) and then you pay the balance with your debit (or whatever) and you get your catalina.....that would be reaching my total before coupons and i should get mt CAT. how is this different than the way it always works, everywhere?

My Cub ad states "Coupon generated at checkout. Purchase of participating products after manufacturer's coupons must be made in one shopping visit." I still haven't figured out if this means the price must be $15 before or after coupons are applied. I wish they would have written it in clear wording.

I take it to mean that you must meet the $15.00 before coupons are applied. If you apply $5.00 in coupons and it only "totals" to $10.00 the CAT won't print because you didn't meet the critera. Not all CAT's have the same restrictions which is interesting. We did have a problem a month or so ago on a CAT where I KNOW we meet the minimum after coupons but it didn't print. I went to customer service and they have us the CAT coupon. Later I went home and looked and the ad did state that you must meet the total before coupons are applied. I agree that the wording is horrible. I next CAT I do, I am going to first try to do it without meeting stated rules to see what happens, just to test it out.

This is sooooooo confusing. I read that next week, we are going to have lots of Pillsbury rolls deals. One of them is buy 4 get $6 OYNO. Would using coupons prevent my catalina from coming out!

If catalina deals do not work with coupons anymore, who would participate in them? Geez, it's like paying actual money for things that aren't worth that much! Aaargh!

:hysterical:
Since I started couponing last December, I have become such a frugalista (sounds better than "cheapskate", LOL!). I can't believe I used to pay "actual money" for things like cereal and other premade goods!

It is so great to know there are others out there who are of the same mindset. :wavehi:

I have the Cat printout for the PIllsbury event and it says nothing about total after coupons, so I think (hope) we are in the clear :wink7:

I haven't seen many "Buy X quanity" deals. If it's an actual quanity and not a $ amount, then coupons would work fine, and you would get a good deal if you have the right coupons.

The CAT'S still work with coupons it just requires you to buy more in order to qualify than you would have had to buy before when you could apply the coupons and meet the requirements BEFORE the coupons were added in. It does get confusing sometimes.

Guess I won't be doing anymore buy x get $x deals anymore if that is the case. Wish I knew for sure though. Is there anybody who works at Cub that can confirm this?

Jenny - I just looked again at my register coupons that prinited and I do see that deal with Pillsbury. Doesn't start until the 6th. You can use coupons on that deal. I doesn't state anywhere you can't use manu coupons. I wonder if that deal is going to be advertised, or if it's only through the register printed notice given.

Thanks so much! Repped ya. It would have been sadly funny if I went there on October 4th, bought the correct items, used coupons, and did not get my Catalina.

Again, thanks for letting me know! Definitely appreciate it.

Strange, my Cat printout says it starts on the 5th. I wonder if they changed the start date :shrug7: My Cat printed last Saturday. Is yours more current? Maybe I will wait til the 6th, just to be safe :wink7:.

Can anyone specify the Pillsbury cat? Ours are labeled with buy 4 get $2 oyno. What would get me $6?

Hey Jeni -

I did the CAT for the Pillsbury today and it worked. The CAT this week included the Pillsbury products, so you could double up. On the display at the store it only displays if you buy 4 of the products you get $2.00 back, but the print out at the register 2 weeks ago said if you buy 6 you get $4.00 OYNO. I bought 6 and used coupons and I got the $4.00 print out + the $10.00 for the weekly CAT. ALTHOUGH this week you had you have you total of $25.00 before coupons were applied. I know, I know...you had to buy more, and in my case my pantry is FULL, but it was a good deal with all the coupons I had for everything.

Do you mean before or after coupons? In other words, did you spend $25 after coupons? And thank you so much for the info on the Pillsbury! I tried to rep you, but I gotta spread the love. Thanks again girlie!

The deal was if you bought $25.00 of the products after coupons are applied. Sorry it's so confusing! I just picked out what I had coupons and marked the ad so I knew I had just over $25.00 w/o the coupons. I think I had 11.50 in coupons, so still got a good deal, but I had to buy more to get the deal.

Thanks so much jaswany! If it's not too much trouble, could you tell me what you bought? You don't have to tell me the actual scenarios, just some of the items you bought. That way, I can get a good idea of what's a "good deal" this week. Thanks again! I'd rep ya, but I still have to "spread the love."
