I try to contact at least 5 companies per day with either a compliment or a complaint (only if I really didnt like their product). I always get some great coupons and today I had a pretty good day!
I emailed Nylabone to let them know that I really liked their dog toys for my cocker spaniel. They sent me a package Fedex today with two dog toys that were probably at least $10 a piece at the store, a bag of dog treats, and a hardback Cocker Spaniel book ($19.95 retail price) with a training DVD! I was so surprised!
Also, a couple months ago, I had a bad experience at a restaurant and I emailed them about it. The manager sent me a $35 gift certificate in the mail to come back again!
Anyway, just wanted to share this!

Thanks, I know I have had a lot of success in the past contacting companies. This was a good reminder to start that again.

When you contact them do you always just give them your house address and email address? or is it something that they ask for when you are sending them a email.

Usually they have a form you fill out with that info,...but if I have to email them, I just type my name and then my addy under that.

Nylabone sounds like a great company! I also contact companies from time to time, and always get a response, even if it's just a letter. Usually it's a coupon for a free product. And I agree... it's worth mentioning, a complaint should be valid, not just for a freebie! I'd say 99% of the time, I contact a company with a rave, not a complaint and they always take the time to write back. Caveat..I use snail mail the great majority of the time. I think they value those letters more than email, but that's just my opinion.

I once left negative feedback at The Land of Nod. We purchased what I thought was a high end play table for my children. The table was made of soft wood and dented easily. It looked aweful after a few weeks. About a year after I left the feedback (I stated my likes and dislikes about the product), I got an email from the company. They had improved there table and wanted to send us a new one, and we could keep the old one. :BigHand:

Thanks for posting this.
I emailed Nylabone *my dogs love their products* and Nylabone emailed me back saying thanks for our compliments and Laney and Slade would be receiving something in the mail. My dogs are REALLY gonna love Nylabone when they get a package from them.

I recently sent an email to Sally Hansen giving them a compliment on their nailpolish. Yesterday, I received a $5, a $3 and $1 off q's in the mail for any of their products which also includes La Cross and N.Y.C brands.Whoopee! I've just been emailing some companies that we buy often w/ just a simple note telling them what and why I like their product. It seems I've been getting q's in the mail a few times a week!

Most of time it does pay to give companies feedback. Even if I have a complaint about a product, I try to tell the company how much I usually enjoy or like their products and was just disappointed in the quality this time. I find it helps to have model number or UPC code handy. I've has luck e-mailing and calling companies. Like the PP said, I'm so bad about remembering to do this just when something is bad.:emb77:

My doggies really love Nylabone now! They got a package in the mail yesterday that contained three toys... on rubber bouncy treat thing, one chew toy, and on sheep that had a tennis ball tummy, and a large bag of Torro bones! Retail cost on all of it was probably $25+ Oh and they included a few $1/1 coupons for me!

I've gotten many q's for free products just asking them where to get their q's, they usually tell me that I have to wait for the inserts, however, have this one on us :)
Alothough I have awful luck when I complain about eating places due to bad food or service. Never hear a darn thing from them:(
Refuse to go to the place again if I don't hear from them.
I only complain when valid.

I know what you mean. My mom holds a grudge for places that make her mad for YEARS. Growing up, there were several restaurants we couldn't go to because they were on my mom's (bad) list! :hysterical:
I compliment 99% of the time, too, and was e-mailed by the Sister Schubert's people that I made their day! They made mine with a free Q!

I totally understand about complimenting it does mean alot. For year's I would not go to a particular place as I don't like seafood, DH loves it, however steak at this place was always tough, no matter how I ordered it. Gave in last year, went, had the best steak, sent email to corporate, even told waitress to tell chef how pleased I was. Next time we went to this place a few months later we got the same waitress and she remembered us, because not many people "don't like seafood and come to this restaurant for their hubbies" she said thanks for the compliment I was impressed she remembered us because this is a high profile busy place.

It really pays off for me. I take old grocery ads and email each company that matches the products listed in the ads. I just mark them off one by one. I keep a list on my notepad of the names, the dates I email them and what I receive from them. Just started doing this again and the mailbox is overloaded each day. Some say no but the majority send great stuff.

Holy crap! My DH and DS recently went to Red Lobster, and it was awful! They charged us $5 for what had to be Kraft mac & Cheese for my son, the dressings were watery and we had to sit in a section that was being remodeled. I emailed the website to complain, and my DH said we got a registered letter he today he had to sign for...it had $50 worth gift cards from them!:hd2:

I sent them an email right after I read this. They said "Thanks."
It wasn't a generic email either. We have a GSP and I went into detail and we do own Nylabone products  Waste of time.
I guess it depends on who's responding to your email and what kind of mood they are in?

I agree it pays to contact companies. Last year I bought some Fruit of the Loom thermals for our first time living where it snows. LOL I had one thermal shirt that got a hole in it on the very first day without any real reason to. I e-mailed them, and they said they'd send me a replacement. Later, I got a package with 4 thermal pants! I e-mailed them back thanking them for the pants, but noted that it was the shirt they were sending a replacement for. They then mailed me 4 free thermal shirts to go with those pants. It was much needed and much appreciated!

I e-mailed Nylabone too, and they just sent me an e-mail saying they'd send me an e-mail for future purchases. No free dog toys or such. :(

I contact a bunch of companies every few weeks. I've gotten sooo much free stuff this way. I put a bit into my messages, instead of just asking for coupons/mailing lists. I've also always had excellent results when I've had product issues. (Please be honest when contacting someone!)
I had a funny one today though. This go, I decided to email KY about how sooo not impressed we were with the yours+mine. They emailed back asking me to call. I told dh there was no way I was calling to talk about this, but he dared me to do it anyways. I finally did today and got this little old lady/grandma sounding woman this morning! I wasn't graphic by any means but felt sooo funny talking to her about it! In the end, they're going to reimburse me for my disappointment! Yippee!

That makes me wonder, and is why I decided to take some of my post out. (specific company & what I emailed about) You have to figure LOTS of people read this forum and never post, or even sign up! I bet they got overwhelmed once word was out that they send freebies. It's too bad, but still awesome that they went above and beyond for some, right?

I know I should have read the thread and multi-quoted some stuff, but this is how I'm going tonight! :hysterical:
That is too funny!! You sure made out well though, right?? :giggle2: Dh used to collect some line of weird brand cookware that a local grocery store was selling week by week. It was horrible, and I told him so much, but he kept buying it anyways. Sure enough, after a few uses, the handles were all falling apart. He couldn't stand that I was right, so he emailed the company. A week later, UPS shows up with a HUGE box. They sent us another set of everything he got, plus some! It was insane!! Of course, it all soon fell apart, too, but at least they have great customer service for their terrible product! :hysterical:
